ActionScript 3.0 :: Web Service/Web Method Not Being Called

I am having some trouble with my flash application not calling a web service when displaying through a web server.
When I open the html page that embeds the flash file in my browser directly from the hard drive i.e the absolute path to the file. The flash file loads up calls the web service and displays the value returned from the web service.
However, when I open the html page through the web server i.e through localhost the flash file also loads up, but it breaks when calling the web service...it is as if the web method isn't being called.
Is this a problem with flash or maybe the web server configuration? I have changed my flash global security settings and everything to include my testing folder.

Using the web services panel, I've connected to a web service, but all the method calls will only show the param structures/types - not the result structures/types. To the best of my knowledge, I'm sending the right parameters, in the right structure, but always I get an empty response.The web services panel:

I wonder is anyone can look at this code and tell me why calling the removeSelectedChild works when called from the same document, but returns the following error when called from the child document/component.
"ArgumentError: Error #2025: The supplied DisplayObject must be a child of the caller."

I'm working on a animation for a charity and i need to make some birds fly around the stage randomly, and change _xscale depending which direction they are moving.I have an if() statement to check if the new destination point is smaller or bigger than the current _x position of each bird. This works perfectly, but when i use the continueTo() method, that if() statement isnt being called.here is the code for the birds.

Anyway, I have a game with keyboard input and mouse input, and after certain mouse inputs I want to set the focus back to the stage in order to continue listening for keyboard events. I have a simple method in the document class:

Where "theCommandLine" is a movieclip which gets attached, and is where I send the keyboard events to.
The problem I'm having is this: When the method gets called in internet explorer, it sets the keyboard focus to the URL bar, so you type stuff in, and then hit enter and it reloads the damn page.

If I have movieclips called "test1", "test2" and "test3" in the _root, I can use:

How do i use the "_root['mc']" selection method if all my test mc's are in another mc called layout.I have tried this but got a syntax error.

I am experiencing a strange problem when I want to bind a service to a button or something else:

I can add the services to the Data Services panel but I have two strange things:
1) when I want to configure the return type he doesn't let me create a new ValueObject type, I only get the bottom datagrid which states: Properties returned by the operation: Property: country_Id, provence_Id, city_Id, id_cdpc, district_Id with the related values on the right side. Why can't I create a new data type on the top?
2) When I accept this and want to add the service call to a button (drag&drop) I get the following error: Error occurred while generating code. Make sure that there are no compiler eroors and try again after reopening the file. Componentn type services.cdpc.CDPC not found... (ps: When I perform a Test Operation everything seems to be ok, I get the expected output values)

I want to load an external swf called 'signs.swf' into an empty mc called 'signholder'.

signholder.addChild(loadit2);
Everything works. Cool. But, I now want to target something within the signs.swf. How do I do it though? What is the path? Do I have to give the child of signholder an instance name? Everything I try fails.
If I wanted the root timeline of the external swf to gotoAndPlay(2) for example,...would i say...
signholder.loadit2.gotoAndPlay(2) ???

I am having issues with startDrag(). I have a movie clip called circle. Inside circle, I have a movie clip called circleFill and another called circleOutline.onEnterFrame, this movieClip is duplicated 4 times.
When I use this:

I have a wordpress based site that stores information about an image in a database field called "background" in a table called "wp_postmeta".The 'loader' gets an url such as "/thisImage/background.swf"The "background.swf" should somehow display "background.jpg" instead but since I've changed the field name in the database (from background to temp_background) it doesn't work.I pass variables to the "loader" swf and they are correct based on the new field name but it still isn't working.I need to know if there is anything in the .fla's (and therefore the .swfs) that is pointing to somewhere in the database hard-coded. Basically I need someone to look at them and tell me how they are working.

I have a class called Animal that has a method foo() and I call it out within the Animal class.

I also have a class called Cat that extends Animal and overrides the method foo()

However when calling the function foo() from the superclass it traces out Animal not Cat (using a Cat object).How can I make superclass call out methods in the subclass?

two classes, both extend EventDispatcher. Static method in 1st class calls instance method in 2nd event not getting caught. [code]also, since dispatchEvent() is an instance method, is there any way of calling it without first instantiating the class? i expect not.

getUser was already in UserService.java. I just created getUser2 and it's identical to getUser. When I try to call getUser2, i get the "Cannot invoke method" error. question: Do I need to specify getUser2 in some other file? like in some configuration file? if so, which one and how do I do it.

Is there a way to get a method's parameters from outside the method? I know that there's an "arguments" property but it's only accessable from within the method. I'm working on a RPC system and need to store the method parameter types in a hash table for easy access later on.

I'm not sure if this is technically a web service or not but I have a Flash file that periodically needs to make a round trip to a DB. As it stands, AS3 uses the URLLoader class to exchange XML with an ASP.NET/VB file on the server. The aspx code then goes to the DB and returns whatever information is requested back to the Flash file.As my program grows and I need to execute a larger variety of tasks on the server, I'm wondering if I should just keep placing functions in that same aspx file and specify in AS3 which function I should load for any given task. OR, is it better to break up my functionality into several different aspx files and call the appropriate file for the task?Are there any obvious pros and cons to either method that I should consider?
