Is it possible to connect to a SSH server through a Telnet connection?I am trying to connect to an SSH server from Flash, but there is no OpenSSH implementation available in ActionScript. I can successfully connect to a Telnet server and execute commands.
I am not able to make any changes on the machine with the SSH server. The machine I am connecting with is running Windows XP SP3. I am willing to get whatever software for the Windows machine that is necessary.

i'm trying to connect my flash application to my nodejs server running socket.io. To connect via web-browser is no problem. Now the problem, when the socket-server isn't running i get an IOError in Flash what seams alright. Now when i start the server and try to connect again, i don't get an error, but the socket-server doesn't receive a connection either?!

Before I start I should state I have read it all, I was following this, this and this (and more...) and still I cannot connect to our running server via Socket over the internet.
Here is what I try to in AS3:
[Code]...
We can see from the log output of the server that this is really sent to the connecting socket. A null byte is of course sent after the xml data. And after that, the server closes the connection. However, it seems that Flash somehow does not like it, as "Error #2048" still appears after ~3 seconds.

I have a Flex web app (compiled to regular SWF) that tries to connect to a (binary, not XML) socket on its own server. So if the swf is at [URL], the socket is [URL] This should be possible, AFAIK, but when I try to connect I get a security error saying that [URL] cannot access [URL]. Even though it shouldn't be needed, I also have a crossdomain.xml file containing

In my Flash app, I'm connecting to my server like this:
Security.loadPolicyFile("xmlsocket://example.com:12860");
socket = new Socket("example.com", 12869);
socket.writeByte(...);
socket.flush();
At port 12860 I'm running a socket policy server, which (according to this document) correctly serves up my policy like this:
[Code]...
I get no security warnings, which I used to get before the policy server was in place. Still, the connection to port 12869 doesn't work. It's made (I can see with Wireshark and on the server), but no data is sent by Flash. It might be worth knowing that the SWF itself is served from example.com as well.

I'm tring to write an instant messager implementation, but i got a problem with the initial socket connection.I need to send a GET request with some parameters to a server and it will reply with a seed number message server IP.
Code: Select allvar socket:Socket = new Socket("appmsg.gadu-gadu.pl", 80);
var response:String = new String;
var request:String = new String;[code]......
why the socket isn't sending any data after the connect,i also wrote a small pop3 client and it works fine.

I made sure the playback security was set to network only on the publish settings menu. I have another program that connects to the same server without a problem, so I don't think it's a cross-domain policy file problem.

I am building an AIR application where I receive UDP messages from Max/MSP using the Socket class. When testing in an internal loopback environment ( messages sent from 127.0.0.1 at port 7400 ) I can see the UDP messages being sent, as in: I can receive the messages I'm broadcasting in Max/MSP by listening to port 7400.However, the AIR app throws IO errors when trying to connect ( via the Socket class, using Socket.connect ) to aforementioned IP and port and I for the life of me can't find out why the app has no access to the internal loopback sending UTP ( if for instance, I start a Apache server at the same IP but at different port, the Socket class connects immediately to that IP - it won't receive data of course, but at least it can establish a connection )I am thinking the problem lies outside of the AS app and is an internal networking issue, I'd like to know if someone has experienced a similar error ( I'm on OS X, btw ) as I don't think it's a security sandbox error ( as the event isn't thrown, and the application type is trusted ).

Optivote IR8 is basically a voting system with a bunch of remote controllers, which can send IR signals to a receiver, which is connected to a computer through a USB port. And I'm trying to write my own little software for that with Flash.Optivote receiver communicates with software through a virtual serial port. When I connect to that port through PuTTY, I can see signals whenever I press any button on the remote controllers. Although, when I connect to that port through Serproxy (which relays a socket connection to a serial port connection), the remote controllers don't seem to work. I just get the same signal every half a second or so, over and over. I'm guessing the receiver is trying to make some kind of handshake this way.
The thing I can't figure out is what PuTTY does that Serproxy doesn't to make the serial port connection work. Maybe there's some proper way to tell the other end when I connect?(I use Serproxy, because Flash applications cannot connect to a serial port directly, but supports socket connections)

I have installed the FMS 3.5 Server on a separate IP from our main Apache Server: The server is running Redhat Linux 2.6.18-128.1.10.el5
FMS 3.5 running on ***.***.**.138 using ports 1935, 8080 (Admin Server using port 1111)
Apache 2 running on ***.***.**.139 using port 80, 443. (several sites setup on this IP)
However, when accessing the fms_adminConsole.htm in the root directory of one of the domains on ***.***.**.139, all login attempts fail. I am connecting to localhost and using the assigned user and password set up in fms.ini. Using either IP fails as well. The FMS server is set up to listen to all hosts as no specific IPs were set.
/var/log/messages show that FMS and the Admin Server are up an running and listening:
Jul 7 12:15:37 228215-web1 Service[28196]: Server starting...
Jul 7 12:15:37 228215-web1 Service[28196]: Server started (/opt/adobe/fms/conf/Server.xml).
[Code]....
All other settings for FMS are default. This is my first time setting up FMS as a fresh install on a new unknown server and I am at a loss as to what settings to check or which files I may need to modify to get it to connect properly. It is a managed server is hosted by rackspace.com if that makes any difference.

I am trying to set up DVR streaming using FLME. I'm following this tutorial: http:[url]........I'm up to Step 2,
I put in the following information into the FLME:
FMS URL: rtmp://222.222.222.222/dvrcast_origin
Stream: mp4:sample.f4v
Then click 'Connect' , but I get an error "Failure to connect to primary server verify that your server URL and application name are valid and that your internet connection is working and retry". My server is a 32-bit windows 2007 VPS , with FMS running.I don't know if I set up the DVR Cast application correct. All I did was copy the dvrcast_origin into the installationdirectory/applications, then I started a new instance of dvrcast_origin with _definst_...Also, I am running the trial version of FMS, and DVR needs FMIS. Is there a way I can just run FMIS?

I have installed FMS 4 on a remote host - Windows 2008. When I install it, I would prefer to install the Apache server and so I did. When I open the initial web page (file:///C: [url]...), the flash content loads and the panel says it is streaming from rtmp. Seems good. But when I try to conect to this from another Flash Media Live encoder, rtmp://ip address/live, where ip address is the address of my host, it won't connect (Failur to connect to pimary server).
When I try to connect to my server with a browser - http://ip address, it loads a web page but clearly it is loading from from IIS.So port 80 is being used by IIS even though I chose to install Apache. Web servers aren't a strong suit but I've found Apache usually fairly easy.Now, I had installed FMS on my notebook and I found I could connect without trouble to rtmp://localhost/live with Flash Media Live Encoder. I figured by installing it on the remote host and then replacing localhost with the ip address, I'd be ok.
I'm willing to use IIS if that is the best thing to do. Maybe that has nothing to do with it. Getting started with these things is usually the hardest part. I've used FMS in the past but haven't had to deal with installing it.

I am using osmf1.0 and am trying to connect to a server to do multibitratestreaming from a level3 FMS instance 3.5. The protocols osmf are rtmpe and rtmpte with 3 different ports 1935,443,80. All in all creating 6 different connections. It then goes and tries to connect to either of these connections asynchoneously (50ms separation between each attempt) which means a later attempt can succeed before an earlier one. The device I am using is an htc mobile running on android (user agent: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7A341 Safari/528.16).The problem Typically, all attempts will fail (NetConnection.Connect.Failed) but occationally one does succeed but only over rtmpte but no specific port.In contrast, with Akamai it does work every single time.

We are running RedHat Enterprise Linux 5.5. I am told by the Adobe support department that only version 5.2 is supported. However, I have let them know this is basically impossible to do. You can't download 5.2 anymore and if you keep your system patched and updated you have to follow the 5.x branch.
We purchased brand new HP hardware for this server. It is a HP DL380-G6 Dual-Quad-Core Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5540 @ 2.53GHz with 8GB of RAM. The fix at the moment is to restart the FMS system and everything clears itself up for some random amount of time. This this problems happens again.

I am trying to make a flex application where it gets data from a telnet connection and I am running into a weird problem.To give a brief introduction, i want to read data from a process that exposes it through a socket. So if in the shell i type telnet localhost 8651i receive the xml and then the connection is closed (I get the following Connection closed by foreign host.)
Anyway i found a simple tutorial online for flex that essentially is a telnet client and one would expect it to work but everything follows Murphy's laws and nothing ever works.Now i have messages being printed in every event handler and all places that i can think off. When i connect to the socket nothing happens, no event handler is triggered even the connect or close handler and if i do the following the socket.connected returns false! I get no errors, try catch raises no exception. I am at a loss as to whats going wrong?
socket.connect(serverURL, portNumber);
msg(socket.connected.toString());
Is there something about telnet that i do not know and its causing this to not work. Whats more interesting is why none of the events get fired.The following is the python code that works!
def getStats(host, port):
sock = socket.socket()
sock.connect((host, port))[code]....

I have made a socket server in C# for a flash game that I am developing, I got the code from somewhere and I am a beginner in c# and .net development . It works fine in practice when connections are made and the server functions correctly. Get 2 concurrent connections at the same time and we have a problem. here is the basic aspects of the socket server below: (alot taken out for obvious reasons) how can I alter this so that it can handle concurrent connections? Should I be threading each response?

I wrote a XML Socket server in PHP recently because I wanted to make a multiplayer Flash game in AS3. This server is supposed to be completely generic and doesn't have any game logic. You should be able to build pretty much any game with this server.
While writing it I realized the new version for Flash Player 9 r115 had some new security issues surrounding Sockets. So I implemented a crossdomain.xml and modified the XML Socket server to serve a crossdomain.xml file if it encounters a security request. The security policy socket server runs on 843 always (it's the default port flash player looks at).
Along with the PHP Socket server I wrote an XML Socket client in ActionScript 3 (AS3). This set of classes is also completely generic and is completely event driver. Your game client would include this file and pass it parameters through the Events classes in order to communicate with the socket server.
Lastly I created a very simple game / prototype using the AS3 class and PHP server. It is very basic, each player gets a ship, and can move around and shoot at other players. However I implemented all of the funtions: Logging in, Logging off, Synchronising players and movements, creating objects (ie firing a bullet), etc
