Media Server :: Connecting FLME With DVRCast - Get An Error "Failure To Connect To Primary Server?
Jun 22, 2011
I am trying to set up DVR streaming using FLME. I'm following this tutorial: http:[url]........I'm up to Step 2,
I put in the following information into the FLME:
FMS URL: rtmp://222.222.222.222/dvrcast_origin
Stream: mp4:sample.f4v
Then click 'Connect' , but I get an error "Failure to connect to primary server verify that your server URL and application name are valid and that your internet connection is working and retry". My server is a 32-bit windows 2007 VPS , with FMS running.I don't know if I set up the DVR Cast application correct. All I did was copy the dvrcast_origin into the installationdirectory/applications, then I started a new instance of dvrcast_origin with _definst_...Also, I am running the trial version of FMS, and DVR needs FMIS. Is there a way I can just run FMIS?

I have installed FMS 4 on a remote host - Windows 2008. When I install it, I would prefer to install the Apache server and so I did. When I open the initial web page (file:///C: [url]...), the flash content loads and the panel says it is streaming from rtmp. Seems good. But when I try to conect to this from another Flash Media Live encoder, rtmp://ip address/live, where ip address is the address of my host, it won't connect (Failur to connect to pimary server).
When I try to connect to my server with a browser - http://ip address, it loads a web page but clearly it is loading from from IIS.So port 80 is being used by IIS even though I chose to install Apache. Web servers aren't a strong suit but I've found Apache usually fairly easy.Now, I had installed FMS on my notebook and I found I could connect without trouble to rtmp://localhost/live with Flash Media Live Encoder. I figured by installing it on the remote host and then replacing localhost with the ip address, I'd be ok.
I'm willing to use IIS if that is the best thing to do. Maybe that has nothing to do with it. Getting started with these things is usually the hardest part. I've used FMS in the past but haven't had to deal with installing it.

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Flash Media Server working with a little video playback application I wrote a few years ago that has suddenly stopped working.I'm using CS3/Actionscript 3.My app uses the FLVPlayback Component, and was working well last time I checked. I recevied a report that the videos stopped working, and have been looking into it.I figured I'd add a bunch of event listeners to the FLVPlayback's ncMgr.netConnection so I could get debug info on things like io errors, net status, etc.The problem I'm running into is that the netConnection is null when I set it to anything on my Flash Media Server, and adding any event listeners to this netConnection throws errors.Here's what I've tried so far:
Playback of a local FLV file works fine.In the FLVPlayback documentation, I found an example and stole the URL of the stream they were using in the example, and that works fine, although it is an HTTP protocol stream rather than RTMP.Any attempt to access FLV files on my Media Server, which has worked fine in the past, basically cause the FLVPlayback object to sit and hang in "buffering" mode and never progresses beyond this point.The netConnection object in this case is null.Here's my code:[code]........
Again the purpose of this is to troubleshoot the video streaming from the Flash Media Server, and it seems like there is no netconnection to the server being created.Does this mean that the server is not working, or is there a problem with the way I'm trying to access the content on the server?This was all working fine before, and I have set up the server-side application .ASC files and such to allow things to work fine on the server end.

One server - is streaming server with Flash Media Interactive Server 3.5that host the application with asc files in FMS application directory.Second server - is the IIS web server that host thehtml,aspx,swf etc.. files.So basically i heve swf file on one server that have to connect to live streaming via rtmp on different server with different ip address.I did not find any clear explanation on this crossdomain rmtp issue.ys only HTTP can use crossdomain.xml policy filebut not rmtp.So what policy security procedure need to be done in order to enableswf file hosted on one server to connect and show rmtp live cam broadcasting from another server?

I have inherited a custom application on Flash Media Interactive Server 3.0 that broadcasts audio in real time. The custom app is written using Adobe Flash Professional 8 and actionscript 2.0.
A little background of how the custom app works When a user connects to the media server to join a stream, our custom application calls out to a seperate application server (that is not Flash) to determine if the user is allowed to connect to a broadcast stream and which stream they should join. We use Xml.sendAndLoad() to do this. The application server we call sends back Xml to the custom App on the Flash Media Server.

As far as I know that the DVR function can be triggered by either check mark the "DVR auto Record" at the FMLE or by using the DVRControllerSynch. but I have a hardware device (not a computer software) that stream the video to the server How can I force DVRcast to run the DVR feature all the time?

Not talking video here. Talking interactive apps, like chat. Ours crashes at about 500 connected users. When I report this I'm told "make sure you're not creating too many objects serverside" or "increase the JSRuntimeSize setting in your application.xml file to the max". Have now done both of those things but still get this out of memory error. Let's say I optomized my app and got 100% more connection capacity. That would be 1,000 connected users - still nowhere near enough. Are my dreams of 6,000 or 10,000 connected users enjoying all of the fruits of the FMS interactivity pipe dreams?Is it not meant for sessions of that size?

I have a single server that runs IIS and FMS, both on port 80. The server has two internal IPs assigned to it, one for IIS and the other for FMS. I also have two static public IPs. My router maps one public IP to IIS' internal IP and likewise for FMS.
IIS works fine. Using an online port scanner, I was able to determine that port 80 is responsive for both public IPs. Before I had configured my Adapter.xml and fms.ini, only IIS' public IP was responsive. This seems to indicate that FMS is fine.
However, when my ActionScript creates a NetConnection and calls connect(), my netStatus callback takes about half a minute to be invoked, and I get "NetConnection.Connect.Failed". Which is not very informative. Is there a way to get more info about the cause of the error?

I am trying to build a DVR Cast app using DVRCast 1.2 provided by Adobe. The problem I am facing right now is that I am finding difficult to record multiple streams at the same time so that I can make dynamic stream to work correctly. Even though Adobe has provided DVRControllerSynch, it does not mention anything how the streams are recorded.

I have installed the FMS 3.5 Server on a separate IP from our main Apache Server: The server is running Redhat Linux 2.6.18-128.1.10.el5
FMS 3.5 running on ***.***.**.138 using ports 1935, 8080 (Admin Server using port 1111)
Apache 2 running on ***.***.**.139 using port 80, 443. (several sites setup on this IP)
However, when accessing the fms_adminConsole.htm in the root directory of one of the domains on ***.***.**.139, all login attempts fail. I am connecting to localhost and using the assigned user and password set up in fms.ini. Using either IP fails as well. The FMS server is set up to listen to all hosts as no specific IPs were set.
/var/log/messages show that FMS and the Admin Server are up an running and listening:

All other settings for FMS are default. This is my first time setting up FMS as a fresh install on a new unknown server and I am at a loss as to what settings to check or which files I may need to modify to get it to connect properly. It is a managed server is hosted by rackspace.com if that makes any difference.

I am using osmf1.0 and am trying to connect to a server to do multibitratestreaming from a level3 FMS instance 3.5. The protocols osmf are rtmpe and rtmpte with 3 different ports 1935,443,80. All in all creating 6 different connections. It then goes and tries to connect to either of these connections asynchoneously (50ms separation between each attempt) which means a later attempt can succeed before an earlier one. The device I am using is an htc mobile running on android (user agent: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7A341 Safari/528.16).The problem Typically, all attempts will fail (NetConnection.Connect.Failed) but occationally one does succeed but only over rtmpte but no specific port.In contrast, with Akamai it does work every single time.

We are running RedHat Enterprise Linux 5.5. I am told by the Adobe support department that only version 5.2 is supported. However, I have let them know this is basically impossible to do. You can't download 5.2 anymore and if you keep your system patched and updated you have to follow the 5.x branch.
We purchased brand new HP hardware for this server. It is a HP DL380-G6 Dual-Quad-Core Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5540 @ 2.53GHz with 8GB of RAM. The fix at the moment is to restart the FMS system and everything clears itself up for some random amount of time. This this problems happens again.

The company I work for installed FMS on a server running Centos for a customer who needed streaming media capabilities. It worked fine for 3 months until today the customer called us and informed us that their client program can no longer connect to the streaming media server. No one has done anything to the server to cause this to happen. When attempting to access the admin console to diagnose the program, the streaming server returned a 500 Internal Server Error. So I tried another page. Same result. Reboots of both the hardware server and the FMS have changed nothing.

I am using FMLE 3.1, but I presume that any server side solution would support all encoders. A basic version of the problem would be where I have one server and two encoders (with the same video source over SDI). If one encoder fails I want to be able to deliver the feed from the second encoder, without having client side logic. Is this possible?
I would welcome a discussion on ways to provide improved resiliency in the live streaming environment. It is amazing that no out-of-box solution is available to provide such basic functionality.
Michael
BTW: I asked a similar question some months ago but got no answers. Apologies for bringing it up again, but this must be a fairly common problem, as anybody using FMS and FMLE will need some solution. I have tried the livestreamcast application, but had little success. It also appears to be for a much bigger scale than I have, requiring an all origin environment.

I've looked through the scripts in the scripts/ directory, but haven't seen anything obvious.
I would like to be able to specify the file name to capture the stream to. At present, the capture file is always named the same as the stream, which means if I stream for a bit, stop, then restart, the originally captured file gets overwritten. I'd like to be able to incorporate something, i.e. the stream start time, into the capture file name.

I'm trying to connect to an FMS server with a Flex application. I can throw the rtmp URL straight in as the source for a VideoPlayer and it will work, but can't figure out how to get it to work with a NetStream. The pure Flash Video element works as in the FMS Flash demos, but is extremely laggy and lacks all the nice functionality of the built VideoPlayer. Is there any documentation on working with FMS with Flex? We're at a point where we need to decide quickly if FMS will do what we need to do or if we should purse other technologies.

i am working on creating a custom application for FMS 3.0 that calls a webservice to validate the user coming in. I have tested the following sample code from the Server-Side ActionScript Language Ref. (See below) The URL has been changed to protect the innocent.
This codes seems to work fine when going to an unsecured site but the innvocation of the service never seems to go out when attempting it over SSL. The Server documentation says that outgoing calls like this should work over SSL. Is this true? If so what do I need to do to get it to work?

I've been using FMS for a few weeks, and feel relatively comfortable with it, but am currently having some trouble connecting to a live stream in a a video conferencing-type application. I suspect I'm leaving some small step out, but am having trouble seeing what that step is.
I have one client application open the video camera, connect to the FMS, and publish it's live camera stream to the server. Something like this:
Connect to the FMS
nc.connect("rtmp://<ip addr>9/chat_test/");
In my connection (success) handler:
cam = Camera.getCamera();
cam.addEventListener(StatusEvent.STATUS, statusHandler);
...
[code]...
However, I keep getting "NetStream.Play.StreamNotFound" errors. This seems relatively straightforward, but I'm clearly missing a small step somewhere.

I installed FMS 4 on my notebook and I was able to access the console without trouble. I used localhost for the server address. When I installed it on a remote server (Windows 2008), I can't get in. I tried the same thing. I opened it from the file system [URL] and I tried localhost but it didn't work. I've tried other values

One problem could be that I installed Apache but there is already a IIS server using the port 80. When I look in the service panel, FMSApache says it is starting but not started.

I was wondering what the difference is between connecting to 1935 and 80. Does one port have an advantage over the other? I know by default 1935 is blocked and it appears to be the perferred port to use, but does port 80 HTTP slow down the stream?
