ActionScript 3.0 :: Display An Image From A String In A Variable

*solved using htmlText with a textField* quick question hoping someone may have an idea on how to achieve this. I have this variable var userPicLoc:String = [URL] I would like to display this using AS3 in a movieclip used as a user pic when a user logs in. I do not want to load an actual image, but want to use the actual URL as the source for what is displayed. In Flex, you are able to create a Label and make its Source a variable containing a URL String like the one above. It looks something like this:
I have a bar on my website which displays the last 10 SMS messages that have been sent to the website by the users. [click here]The sender's nickname and message are dynamically loaded from a PHP-file. I also want to display the user's picture next to the message. The URL to the picture is sent from the PHP-file, just like the nickname and message, but I don't know how to display that picture in my flash-movie.So, how do I display a picture in flash when I've only got a dynamically loaded URL?
I'd like to dynamically load a image into my script. Ie/ myMovie.swf?image=myimage.jpg If no image gets passed - the script should use the default.jpg instead and load normally. This is what I've tried so far....

I have a String variable in my flex (flash builder 4) application containing CSV data. I need to allow the user to download this data to a local file. For example, giving them a "csv" button to click and it might present them with a save file dialog (and I would be sending the contents of my string variable).Is this possible / how ?I am using the ResuableFX component for the datagrid to csv. This the code I ended up with that works to save the string to a text file for the user (in a web browser):

Trying to replace a portion of a string with a "-" if it matches a string variable in AS3.

I have a very general requirement that seemed very simple: Step 1: Load a new external JPEG image into a MC with a string var encoding a string caption in the URL link (VALUE="../fadeTest.swf?someTextVar=TestCaption") within the EMBED / OBJECT sections. I know how to do this and it semed to work fine. STEP2: When the JPEG is loaded I would like the substituted Text to Fade In over the JPEG. The JPEG should also fade in before the Text. The fade rate should be programmable.
how you would target a function's local variable through a concatenated variable string.For example:

I'd expect the trace to be "Hello World" but rather is given "undefined". So if variables created outside functions are created on the main timeline, where are local function variables created and how would you access them?
i'm getting a value from a class that gives me e.g "icon1" as data. i want to use this within a function to control the visibility of an item nested in a movieclip on the stage. the nested movie has the same name as the data being sent.

I have been banging my head against a brick wall regarding the following problem which must be very simple to fix, just can't see the answer.I have a class assigned to a movieclip called canvas. The class is called drawClass. I have called the instance of canvas on the stage 'drawingCanvas'.When I trace "drawingCanvas" I get object drawClass] which is fine. Tracing drawingCanvas.name gets me the instance name 'drawingCanvas'.This is a String variable.Basically what I am trying to do is pass the MovieClip name to another class. In my example the class 'toolBar', which can then interact with the MovieClip.
The problem is passing 'drawingCanvas.name' results in a String, so I get an error saying :TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert "canvasArea" to flash.display.MovieClip.I can't for love or money find a way to convert a String variable to a MovieClip variable! I have the name of the MovieClip, I just need to tell the toolbar class. But I can't find a way of doing this as the instance on stage is an object of drawingClass, not a MovieClip (unless MovieClips with attached classes are not treated as standard MovieClips?).
i want to rotate 3D an Image called img1 in Flex. I want to rotate it around y axis 180 degree. I can do this by using 3D effect already built in Flex but i want to do a bit more different. I want during rotating, there's another image called img2 appear on back of img1 (in default case, the image appear on the back is img1) and when rotating finish, the image will be img2.

I need to convert a base64 encoded string from a server (being sent via amf) to an image. on the server the raw image data (gif / jpeg / png) is being encoded to base64 (which already works fine), and I need to decode this string and display the image in my flash movie.

"," "," " when storing the string but nothing seems to work.Currently only "Text line one." is displayed and the rest is hidden in the cell. I would prefer not to use "wordWrap=true" to emulate this behaviour in the cell, but instead be able to manually put in newline breaks (although I could turn on wordWrap to avoid long text from hiding due to cell dimensions).
