ActionScript 3.0 :: Dynamic Class Use Similar To Library Clip Loading?

I been using getDefinitionByName to dynamically use library items in my application. One would assume that this system would work for any class. o I set it up to call the right mediator for the right component. For some reason, it throws a reference error even tough the class is imported.

i'm trying to do is to move all the squares. I've got a Square movie clip class in my library. The program should populate an amount of squares, unfortunately the amount can vary, which is why i haven't just gone with

First off I downloaded the picture and bitmaps for my movie clip class online and it is now part of my library as type movie clip. Then from the library I was allowed to drag it into the stage then name an instance that I could use in my as3 code. This movie clip has some animation, so when the flash is running, the graphic would be "walking" the whole time for example. This class is called "Player"
Then I realized I wanted to encapsulate more of the code in as3, and to do that I wanted to add some methods and variables to this Player class.
I right-clicked the graphic in my stage and I found "edit class". It then brings up a completely empty class definition, strangely named "script1", not even properly named as the class itself.
When I edited it and named it properly and re-compiled, it looks like I basically just re-did a brand new class from scratch as my graphics were completely gone.
At the very least I would expect the Player class to have some linking or loading of my graphic, the starting x/y coordinates (according to how I drag it on the stage), etc.
Why does it bring up a blank class document when I right-click my player? Shouldn't it bring up the code that makes "player" work as I see in the flash? How am i supposed to "append" methods to the already existing class.

So i'm ready to switch to AS3 but there is something i can't figure out is, how do you write a class that attaches a clip from a library, WITHOUT specifying the class in the export to stage thing of the clip in my library ?
All i want is to have a single line like : var myClassIntance:MyClass = new MyClass();
And have a clip attached to the stage and the class assigned to the clip...

I have an existing MovieClip called mc1 on the Stage. That MovieClip has 2 keyframes, the first one has an image in it, and the second one is an empty keyframe.
After compiling, I want to load an image (image1) from the library into the the firstkeyframe, and replace the existing image.
I know I need to right click on the image in the library, export it, give it a class name, and I need to assign an url to it which would be 'image1' in this case.I was thinking of this, but I cannot get the url right, and I dont know how to refer to the firstkeyframe after I've loaded it..

But how would you loadMovie(); for movieclips in the library? I don't want it on the stage, but rather a blank clip that loads whatever movieclip I tell it.

I use the script below to distort a wall. When I have the MC on the stage it works but shows it twice. I solved this by hiding it with _visible but I really want to load the MC from the library. So I wrote the script like this. But nothing shows?[code]...

Is there a library for ActionScript 3 similar to jQuery touch for developing iPhone applications with Flash?
Basically there is a jQuery library that emulates the native cocoa gui widgets with JavaScript for mobile websites, just wondering if there is something similar in Flash.

I have a row of thumbnails with photos of people. When I move the mouse over each photo I want to load an "information card" about each person onto the stage. I have the card for each person as separate MovieClips in the library, named Card_person1, Card_person2, ...
In each thumbnail I have a property wich contains the name of that person, called "namn".
Now, I was thinking I could attach the same listener to all thumbnails:

I'm making a site in Flash MX, and I have dynamic text boxes so that the data can be easily changed. For navigation I'm using rollover buttons.
My rollover buttons are actually movie clips. I don't like to use buttons for rollover animations because when you roll off of them, they jump back to their normal state without a smooth transition. This doesn't look too good.
When a user navigates the site and clicks, I want the rollover buttons to load up dynamic text in 2 different boxes (header and content) from a .txt file on the server.
I did this successfully with regular buttons, but for some reason, the exact same actionscript doesn't work with the movieclips. How come? I did this from a tutorial on this site. Heres my code for the movie clips:

Im trying to make a page where i duplicate a movie clip where i would load my images externally from a folder. Each duplicated movie clip should have a different image inside it. It doesn't seem to work. Here is the source code i made:

I have a site that has multiple pages of similarly sized buttons. These are magazine covers. I'd like for the mag covers and links they point to (loaded swfs) to be dynamically loaded via a text file, if possible. The client always has new magazines she's been in and to manually load the newest buttons first is time consuming.

I want to load text into a dynamic text field (called 'about_tab') using a class depending on the language selected (by clicking on a flag icon) by the user.
I managed to get this to work when the ActionScript was written directly in the timeline, but am having problems with doing the same thing via a class.
This is my class file:

When I run it, it returns my trace statements that the class ChangeLang and the function xmlLoaded are running, but no text appears in the dynamic text field (I should/want to see the word 'About'). I get this error message:

Well this is the problem right here. In my flash movie, I made it so a member from my PunBB Forum can login using their login information from the forum, This is using the LoadVars and it loads the variables into flash and displays the username. In the php script i made it so it will display profile information that user has on the forum, this is where the problem comes in.. I can trace the data perfectly fine in the output panel when you are successfully logged into flash.
I can also display the data in Dynamic text boxes IF they are on the main stage.. I need to be able to load the data of the user inside of a movie clip.. that is loaded when you click "User Profile" on the menu, Once the movie is loaded, no data is displayed. Yes i have all the instance names and paths correct, but no matter what i do I cannot load the data into this movie clip. So me thinking it just wouldnt work, I tried making a profile page on a different keyframe in the timeline, That also did not load the data onto another frame.

I created an flv video player using Flash Builder 4. This "BasicVideoPlayer" project is compiled into a SWC that will be eventually be used to create other video players that extend the functionality. One of the features is a view that appears when the video has finished playing that displays a "Play Again" button. This "Play Again" view has its own class, "BasicPlayAgain", that accepts a graphic asset that is exported from a .fla file that contains all of the graphic/UI assets.
In my new project, "EnhancedVideoPlayer", I'm using the BasicVideoPlayer SWC as a library to create a new video player that will add more functionality to the "Play Again" view; specifically it will add more buttons to that view.The EnhancedVideoPlayer uses a default class that extends the BasicVideoPlayer class. The BasicVideoPlayer class has a member called "playAgainScreen" whose type is BasicPlayAgain. The EnhancedVideoPlayer needs to override the playAgain member and recast it as EnhancedPlayAgain so it can control the new buttons properly.

I'm trying to load a RSL library into a flash animation developed with Flash CS5 IDE, that extends a custom class and implements an interface. I have reduced the problem to the simplest setup and find that I can have my main class extend another class or implement an interface, but not do both at the same time if I want to load an RSL.I have a very simple class to extend:

but if I want both I get the VerifyError: Error #1014 with MySprite not found and ReferenceError: Error #1065.

The use of library classes confuses me once again. I have the following situation:

I cannot put in any baseclass when using the class, so I'm forced to remove the baseclass. When using only the class I get a whole bunch of errors don't make any sense at all, and still appear even if I comment out all the code in the Page class. comop_padpagesFavorietenPage.as:7: 1152: A conflict exists with inherited definition com.op_pad.pages:Page.help in namespace public.

Library symbol "Card" is linked to class "Card" which extends "MovieClip". Library symbol "Card" contains a card background image.Library symbol "Ace" is linked to class "Ace", which extends class "Card". Library symbol "Ace" contains a TextField with a big letter "A".So we have Ace extends Card which extends MovieClip. Ace therefore extends MovieClip, but does not DIRECTLY extend MovieClip.When I drop an instance of Ace on the stage and compile the clip, all that shows up is the big letter A. However, I expected the background image from Card to be included, since Ace extends Card, and the Card symbol contains the background.It seems like Flash ignores symbol content unless it belongs to the top-level class being instantiated.I think it's LAME that one symbol can't extend another. The IDE could easily draw Card as a non-editable background while I'm editing Ace which extends it, and it should instantiate Card's content and then Ace's content when an Ace is instantiated.

In my project are pages of text with each word having a button that when pressed will display a movieclip presentation about that word (its pronounciation and spelling etc..). In the project I am working on now I have over 450 unique presentations of words to deal with. I don't want to have all of these hundreds of movie clips on the stage and tell them one at a time to stop and rewind and then have one play each time a word button is pressed. That seems to be very inefficient to me.
add movieclips to the stage using addChild(movieclipname) and remove them using removeChild(movieclipname) but there is a problem. I have hundreds of unique movieclips and I don't want to have to manage hundreds of variables containing the indivudual movieclip instancess. It is a real pain having to figure out what instance is still on the stage before i delete it.In Adobe Director all I have to do is this:

Been working on this for almost 2 weeks and I am completely stuck. I've got a main dynamic movie clip that pulls in images from an xml file. It's x position moves depending on the mouse position. Obviously its width is dependent on how many images are pulled in.
I have an indicator movie clip that runs along a 600 pixel line in the opposite direction to the main clip that gives an indication of how long the main clip is.
I know the length of the indicator's line so its x position needs to be updated in relation to the x position of the main clip. 1% of indicator's maximum movement in 6 pixels so it needs to move 6 pixels in relation to 1% of main movie clips maximum distance.

but that doesn't seem to work. are variables and instance names interchangeable? my lClip var traces out of course, but the lClip.imagHolder.loadMovie never happens (clip inside the clip).

I've made a flash movie which will load four movie clips at runtime. Actually, the number of movie clips will depend upon number of "NODE" in XML file. Keeping XML file thing aside, I've tried hardcoded values; 4. Let me describe you the structure very well:
There is a main empty movie clip, instance name "mc_scroll" which will be only item on stage. In this movie clip, another movie clip whose identifier name is "blueMovie" will be loaded dynamically. Inside this "blueMovie" MC, there is a button instance name is "blueButton" and inside this button there is a "Dynamic Text" field instance name is "btn_text".
Phewww.. so long chain... inshort:
mc_scroll->blueMovie->blueButton->btn_text
Now, I can load 4 or any number of "blueMovie" inside "mc_scroll". But I also want to set the button text for each button inside each MC!! I'm sure you guys are getting what I want to do. But its not working. Below is the code:
