I have a String variable in my flex (flash builder 4) application containing CSV data. I need to allow the user to download this data to a local file. For example, giving them a "csv" button to click and it might present them with a save file dialog (and I would be sending the contents of my string variable).Is this possible / how ?I am using the ResuableFX component for the datagrid to csv. This the code I ended up with that works to save the string to a text file for the user (in a web browser):

Then I would like to 'execute' the string, just as I do with the 'eval'-function in php/javascript.The important thing here is that the function is not stored client-side on the harddisk (like the swf-document) and that the function only remains in the computer memory.

View 2 RepliesI have a scenario that I get an string with html data, this is not just html data it's an email (outlook) saved as an html file and dropped in the string.Now this string needs to be formatted to an html document and should be a clickable link in a datagrid. So when I click on the link, the HTML document should pop-up and should gave me a nice HTML page that is readable for the normal users. View 1 RepliesI'm running an application off of a large XML file, and I want non-tech-savvy employees to be able to add/subtract from the entries that I have currrently. While I am fine editing XML on my own, I know some of them wont be, and so I am wondering if there is a way for me to be able to set up a SWF file to actually edit the XML rather than just reading it? I don't know if this is even possible. Also if need be i'm not opposed to some server side script, but if there's a way to do it without it, I would much prefer it.
Also, this applet would be running from disk not from a web server.

How can you change this to where when the page is loaded it does not say (loading) and it will say (No live video streams) you can view archived videos. Is this on the server FMS Interactive in the configuration or can it be done from the code inserted above?

I have given up on trying to get the source of a webpage (I don't own this server) in AS3. All it does is throw an sandbox violation error (2048). So far I have come to a conclusion that the only solutions possible are:Make my web server serve the content to the swf.Make a proxy server for the swf with crossdomain.xml.Somehow, both the options are being rejected by my seniors & I am being pushed for a better solution.I don't have any idea if anything else is possible, does anyone here have one??

Assuming these files are sitting in my applications/recorder/streams/_definst_ directory, how can I open up this directory to allow direct download via a url? Something like http://<ip ddress>/applications/recorder/streams/myfile.flv. I'm guessing this is just something that I need to put into one of the configuration files, but I'm having a bit of trouble figuring this one out.

View 0 RepliesI am writing a game where positions of an object are being exchanged between the two flash clients through a java server. The secnario goes simply like this:
PlayerA ---> Server : "Position X + Position Y+
"
Server ---> PlayerB: "Position X + Position Y+
"
and it works both ways of course.the problem here is that on my computer where i use "localhost" everything is fine and the data is exchanged seamlessly .. when I loaded the server on a remote host the message received strangely turns into something like "Position X + NaN" (i.e. the y position is wrongly parsed by the server), what is weird even more, is that sometimes, the message gets parsed correctly..the server is wrote in java and it is exactly the same source code that works on my machine that fails over the internet
