ActionScript 3.0 :: Edit An External XML File From A SWF-On Disk Not Server

Aug 10, 2009

I'm running an application off of a large XML file, and I want non-tech-savvy employees to be able to add/subtract from the entries that I have currrently. While I am fine editing XML on my own, I know some of them wont be, and so I am wondering if there is a way for me to be able to set up a SWF file to actually edit the XML rather than just reading it? I don't know if this is even possible. Also if need be i'm not opposed to some server side script, but if there's a way to do it without it, I would much prefer it.

Also, this applet would be running from disk not from a web server.

I was wondering if it was possible to edit an xml on the server side from a web based flex application. When you use XML files in a Flex application and then compile it to upload it in the server, Flex Buidler generates a swf file with the xml data embedded. How should I do to have access to those XML files?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Edit The Content Without Having To Edit The FLA File Or Any Code?

Aug 11, 2009

I'm actually relatively new to flash and actionscript but I could say I have fair knowledge about them. So anyway, I usually build flash websites the traditional way using timeline animation and scripting. Today I had a job interview and they said they're looking for someone who can develop any web design into a Flash CMS with a back-end office for the client to edit the content without having to edit the FLA file or any code.

Accordingly, I'd like to know where and how to start. What are the main concepts I should follow/adapt?

Flex :: Air - VideoDisplay Record/Save To Disk/server

Aug 1, 2011

I want to also add cuepoints to a live recording video as it is incoming.

I have a live feed incoming from a VideoDisplay object in my Flex Air app, and I would like to be able to record the video/audio of this and save it to disk and/or upload to server.

Is this possible? If so, would it be possible to add CuePoints to the video as it is being streamed live? Right now I am just trying to record a live stream from my VideoDisplay.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Using Filereference To Load Image From Server Not Local Disk

Jun 28, 2011

I am currently using filereference in as3 to load a file from the users local disk and display instantly within a loader on the stage. This works fine but i am now needing to load files that are already stored on a server not the local disk, is this possible?

I have tried loading the url into a loader object but this takes far too long if the image is quite big where is filereference is almost instant.

My current code is:

Code:
var mFileReference:FileReference;
browseButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onBrowseButtonClicked);
function onBrowseButtonClicked(event:MouseEvent):void {

[Code]....

Is there anyway i can take out the browse and selected stages and just load the server based image?

Media Server :: Failed To Record Livestream (disk Quota Exceeded)

Sep 22, 2011

I'm running the development edition of FMS 4.5 and am trying to get HLS working. Whenever I attempt to publish a stream from FMLE, I receive the message:

f4f:livestream - NetStream.Record.DiskQuotaExceeded

in the livepkgr application instance and Failed to record livestream (disk quota exceeded).in the server log.I realize there are limitations on the development edition (10 minutes of iOS streaming), however usually these limitations restart when the server is reset.  I've restarted the application instance and the server itself, manually starting and stopping the service, and I still receive that error when I first connect and try to publish the stream right after a server restart. I've reset the server multiple times to no avail.

The recording settings in the application.xml are all set to the defaults (-1 for no maximums).Unfortunately I've never been able to get this to work yet so I'm not ambitious enough to start testing it on any production servers.

Media Server :: Advantage Of Writing A SSAS File Over An External AS3 File?

Jul 23, 2011

I do understand the differance between ssas and as3. Not all, but all most everything I see written in SSAS can be writen into a external AS3 file. This leads me to quite a few questions I'm hoping you kind people can shed some light on for me.

1)  What is the advantage of writing a SSAS file over an external AS3 file?

2) Can I write an .asc file in AS3 or do I have to use AS1? Please understand I'm using tuts from fmsguru.com and the books "Learning Flash Media Server" (pdf) and "Programming Flash Communication Server". I'm not a javascript programmer so nothing I do in AS1 seems to make any sence while everything I do in AS3 does. It may not seem like it to you people that are programmers, but to those of us that aren't, AS1 and AS3 are miles apart.

3) kind of off topic, but a security question. I'm not a "hacker" and don't like the jerks that are. My question is on external AS / SSAS files and swf files. When my fla is compiled into a swf does my external AS files remain external? I assume they do, but then what is the threat of the swf being decompiled? In most projects I would do I could care less if somebody had access to my fla as long as they don't have my actionscript files.

I don't know. Maybe on questions one and two I'm getting confused becasue I'm using out dated material. Again I assume that even though fms was built off of the javascript engine it should be able to read and execute my AS3 file. Other wise what was the point of the evolution of actionscript into a fully functional programming language?

Flash Write ByteArray To File On The Disk?

Nov 17, 2009

I need to write a ByteArray to a file on local disk with Flash AS3. The flashapplication is run locally (it's a projector exe).

I found the FileReference class with the save() function which works perfect. The only problem is, that this function opens a filebrowser and let's the user select where to store the file. However - i have the path already as string and need to save to this location without useraction (since i'm exporting a lot of files into this directory in one go and don't want the user to choose each one manually).

Is there a way to store a bytearray from a projector to local disk without opening a filebrowser?

I'm also using mdm Zinc, which actually provides a function to save a ByteArray to disk, but this function is for some unknown reasons not working. I already filed a bugreport, but I need to get this to work very urgently, so i'm looking for alternatives!

ActionScript 3.0 :: File On Disk, Size In Bytes?

Apr 10, 2007

I'm using Flash 9 Public Alpha, AS 3.0.I have an image pre-loader that loads an uncertain number of external image files. I wish to show a progress bar based on the current bytes loaded vs the total bytes that need to be loaded for all images.

The problem I'm having is that the .bytesTotal property of the Loader (well, technically the LoaderInfo) class always returns 0 until the first ProgressEvent is dispatched, which doesn't happen until after you begin loading the file. So I can't figure out a good way to find out what the grand total number of bytes that need to be loaded is unless I start all of my images loading simultaneously or somehow begin loading and then stop them from loading--either of which seems a poor solution to me.

I tried using the File class to reference the .size property, but this apparently only works in Flex, not in F9PA since the compiler didn't recognize the File class.

ActionScript 2.0 :: How To Select File From Local Disk Dynamically

Feb 22, 2004

I want to do a stand alone application in wich you can select a mp3 from local disk with Flash MX. I've been searching for a function or a method who allows to open a "browser window" or to have a string with the filenames but I haven't find nothing. I also have searched for an argument for fscommand but nothing. Does someone know if some function exists in javascript to give a string with the filenames of a folder? And in this case, how to integrate it in actionscript? I know that I can use a explorer to do that with javascript, but I need to do it without browsers.

Flex :: Save Unique File From Web Browser To The Local Disk?

Jan 19, 2011

We have a Web login feature. We will offer Free calls to a large campaign.

Scenarios:

Because of free calls, we will offer a unique file to be downloaded and stored After a week or month we will call them and offer them our desktop application to scan and see how trusted, the user is If we dont find the same file again, we will never start business and more our own statistics Based on that report we want to do some follow ups campaign We can do this with cookies but we want user experience and trust analysis

Example: if you play a music in youtube.com, without notice your file is actually in /tmp/Flash....flv with lot of data on it.

Question: How can i do the similar using Flex/Flash from the web browser ?

ActionScript 2.0 :: JPG File From External Server To Base64?

Aug 9, 2010

'm trying to convert a movieclip to base64 and send it a server.

I've checked everywhere and I realized I can do it with an external PHP page that will communicate with the flash file and will send the MC as BASE64 JPG using POST.

Unfortunately, my client asked me to do that WITHOUT ANY EXTERNAL FILES (so I can't use the PHP page). Only the final SWF should be used.

I've tried to convert the project from AS2 to AS3, but it seems to be almost impossible.

Is there any way to convert the MC to JPG without the PHP page?
