ActionScript 3.0 :: How Will Swfaddress Know What To Load When Someone Puts The Specific Address?

i'm worried I might have to change the entire way the website works.
for example. the site is set up with a document class that loads a header footer and content class. then the content class loads an intro. when the intro is done it automatically loads in the home page. then when any buttons in the header or footer are clicked, they dispatch a custom event, it unloads the current content and loads in a new class (usually including some content from the flash ide library.. pretty standard really.. just using some simple tweens for animation.
so my question is, how will swfaddress know what to load when someone puts the specific adress in.. ie: www.whatever.com/about.. how is it going to know how to get to that point in the code without going through all of it? is it possible? do i have to set up the site a specific way? it almost seems as if i'd have to make separate swfs for each page or something.
I need to have the ability to go to a specific frame in a timeline based on what the web address is. I basically want to play an intro for my index page only and skip to frame 30 for all other pages. Example [URL]
I am trying to say to a movie clip, which is defined in a external xml file, to play. now, i got that value from xml and i hold it in a variable But how to say now that this is an instance name of some movie clip on a stage and that movie needs to play.
everything i tried is just giving me an error like:
TypeError: Error #1006: value is not a function. if i write the code like this:
Code: targetit.play(); or TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert XMLList@23e20d29 to flash.display.MovieClip.
if i write the code like this:

targetit is an variable that holds the instance name of movie clip

It is working fine. But I want domain should be "gmail.com" if some other, validation should return false.. How can I achieve this? I think Regular Expressions are useful. But I don't Know to use the same in flex?...
I'm working in AS 2.0, Flash CS3. I want to make a contact form that allows a user to select the appropriate e-mail address from a combo box. I have made a working contact form that send to one e-mail address using PHP.

The timeline swf itself (the core of the site) is being loaded into a wrapper swf, as one of the requirements is that this timeline can be used elsewhere, in other projects. This wrapper, however, will have some additional visuals that pertain to a stand-alone version of this timeline. As a result of never knowing exactly where this is going to be used (either a subchapter in another flash website, or as a stand-alone site by itself), I've decided to dump all of the swfAddress code into the wrapper, in a child class of it. To handle the navigation changes, I'm dispatching custom events (from the timeline) with parameters that describe the nav changes, which gets picked up by the parent wrapper, which then calls a function in the swfAddress child class for handling.
Also done in this swfAddress class is the parsing of the URL onChange event (when a browser back button button or history changes the nav, rather than a Flash button). This, too, dispatches an event with info about the parsed URL, which the wrapper is picking up and then calling a function in the timeline's API to make the necessary changes.
Am successfully using swfaddress and love it. For the first time though I'm trying to implement it on a site that has a load bar. The issue is if I use the browser's back button I'll eventually get to a page that just shows the full loadbar and stops. It is the the page that I have labeled "$/". If I don't put that label on the first frame then other worse problems occur. [URL]...
So I have this flash app I'm making that uses a URL load to load a bunch of plot points from an address. When the loader finishes, it send the data to a plotter function. the plotter function clears the graphics in a shape called graphLine. It then draws a line from one plot point to another using the lineTo function. Basically every 3 seconds it makes this request and redraws the screen and updates the value of a textfield to the current y value. In flex builder 3, it works great in debug mode. The screen updates just fine. However, when I make the release build and test it out in a browser, it loads the data fine, but will not draw it until I stop the graphing process. Any thoughts on this one? Here's the code for the graphing function
how to use SWFAddress within MCs? All the tutorials I find seem to use the maintimeline, but I need to know how to make it work within multilevel mc's, dynamicly loaded in. Ive got a working code but this one is static. Everything is working, even when i copy and paste the URL of Testpage 5 for example in the browser. how to create a dynamic way than using the switch statement.
Basically once my animation loads I want to pull in an external SWF at a specific frame, basically like the "home page" swf that will display first. Underneath that I will have "About Us, Contact, etc..." and those will each load an external SWF into my movie clip. My movieclip right now is called mcHolder. I'm having a problem with the flash publish method and swfaddres.I've included the javascript of the flash pubblication in a new javascript file with the swfaddress in the same page.If i use swfobject for including my flash file in the swf, swfaddress works ok...if i include the swf with the flash method swfaddress doesn't work.Here the link: http:[url]......
I have a flash site, in AS3. Now that the site is finished, the clied asked if it's possible to change the pages fo the site writing different URLs at the address.Like [url].... opens the flash site at clients swf and so on.

What I'm trying to do: I have developed Flash projects for a client Company that are run via flash exe's. These projects sit on a network server. This company is now concerned about the security of these projects. If someone should copy the files off the server they should not play. I thought of a solution that has a text file on the server with a variable that is loaded into the player at runtime. The link to this txt should be absolute, so if the folder is copied off the server and taken off site the flash player will no longer be able to find the network folder with the text file. Does this required php, asp etc? Or is there another way to load a variable into flash player from a IP addressed folder?
In my project I need to dynamically load (with an XML file) images (icons) into a flash cs3 file with as3. Every icon needs to have it's own URL. So far I succeeded in loading the icons into the file and adding the imageLoader an external link, but I can't seem to be able to figure out how to load every image into its own loader so that I can give it separate url references. I also want to a hover effect on the images.
When I'm typing and press enter I expect a new line to be created, but instead the text goes to the very beginning and writes over what I've already typed. Does anyone know what setting is causing this?
I have been trying to solve this for a week now, sadly to no avail. I need to change the box format that this code puts my buttons into. I would like it just to be one line of buttons.[code]I have tried to change the btn.x to btn.x = i * 100 + 15; which put a second menu up for 1 sec before it disappears and leaves me with the original.
i've got a scenario that i'm working thru on paper first and wanted to run it by everyone to see if i'm doing it correctly and most importantly, efficiently so, here goes...the situation | an instance of the DateChooser component reads an xml file which houses info for homework assignments and their due dates. if there is a due date, make sure that date is highlighted on the DateChooser component. from what i've been told, the xml file stores urls which will tell if there is s/thing due on a particular date.

What needs to happen as soon as the xml file is loaded? i.e. do i call a function which parses the xml data and puts it into an array? then the DateChooser component iterates thru the array looking for boolean values noting if there is an activity or not and if so, on which day. if it finds one, it sets its highlight property to true for that particular day.

i need to create a border in my movie. i've used two buttons for two different types of borders and a NumericStepper to specify the thickness.i createEmptyMovieClip an mc and then i use moveTo and lineTo to draw the rectangular border inside it.now, every time the new thickness is specified, a new border should appear and replace the older one. so how do i do this?? i tried using a constant depth value which solved this problem.
i have a movieclip already on stage, placed manually by me.i dont want it to get overlapped by the border and so i used swapDepths for it. but if i use a constant depth, every alternate swapDepths puts this movie clip behind the border.so, first time the border's behind. now i change thickness and again apply border, the border is over my movieclip.how do i solve this so that the borders replace themselves and the mc on stage remains on top??
i created an input text box that puts the users input into a global variable, but when i test it it gives me not only what i have typed in but all the html formatting for the font that my input text box has on it.I only want the text that i have typed in to go into the variable but the wackload of html is going in there too. ive tried a few different things, rewriting my code, recreating the text box, changing settings, dont know what im missing.
