ActionScript 3.0 :: HtmlText And Stylesheets - No Control Over Indents/margins?

I'm trying to figure out htmlText in Flash, and a number of things don't seem to be working:
- The first line of each paragraph is slightly indented. I can't seem to find a setting to remove this.
- There doesn't seem to be any way to control the amount of space before or following a paragraph. Setting "marginBottom" doesn't do anything - and of course it's not defined in the class anyway.
- Can't control how indented <li> elements are, or how much space is before/after them.
Is there any way to get more precise control over formatting of text, using style sheets or some other method?
I just step into the task of printing jobs in as3. All I have to do is to print the text in a dynamic text field which is in a movieclip. The text filed has a scroll bar to show the rest of the content. I am using the following lines of code to print the page.

I have also tried printArea and pageHeight,pageWidth, paperHeight, paperWidth properties. But still I am not able to control the margins of page.
I created a Flex application with a textArea. I'm populating the textArea's htmlText property.I have a context menu on the textArea, but I don't see how to make a different context menu when the user right clicks on a <a href...>link</a>. Can I control the context menu for a link displayed inside of the htmlText of a mx:TextArea?
Previously I had posted a thread about trying to format and xml file with line breaks and indents when writing XML files using the xml.sendAndLoad method.I was looking for a way to write the xml like this[code]...
I thought I had solved this by converting the XML to a str in which the line breaks and indents were added in the appropriate places, but as yet I haven't been able to write it to an XML file. I can write a text file using LoadVars, but this isn't useful as the formatting isn't preserved.
why I can have multiple css styles when I use an external css file but when I try and create styles in AS I cant seem to get two different stlyes in the same box?
I am working on my portfolio website in Flash. I have few text areas where I need to set CSS formatted text. Can someone point me on how to use the style sheets and embed my fonts, so that they show up properly everywhere?
Flex stylesheets are parsed by the compiler and bundled with their assets (graphics, usually) into a swf file, which can then be loaded at runtime. I've got a project with a fixed number of styles (currently 4: old corporate style, new corporate style, and high contrast versions of both). Using Flash Builder (Eclipse with Flex IDE plugin) I'm able to have all .css files compiled to .swf files alongside the primary project artifact .swf file. This is also possible with ant scripts.
My current understanding is that Maven wants to only create one artifact per project (POM file), but may have some additional ones added (like zip packaging). For scalability reasons - I've got a complex setup of many library and module projects, several of them having their own individual stylesheets - it would be very impractical to split up the projects into the 'main' project and copies for each stylesheet. At least on the Eclipse project side, having some subfolders with POM files in each, all refered by a master pom file and referring the same src/ location (and being inside one Eclipse project) would probably work. Though that's ugly and needs individual artifactIds for each, and still need to be assembled somehow.
The important thing is to be able to have a final assembly which contains the (Eclipse) projects main swf file and each stylesheets swf file (and some static files like localized texts to be loaded at runtime). This will be part of a large assembly of several of those projects which I've described in a separate question.
I'm using Eclipse 3.6.1 (Helios) with Flash Builder Plugin (i.e. Flex4), targetting Flex SDK 3.5 (FlashPlayer 10.0). I've installed Maven 3.0.2, using Sonatypes flexmojos-maven-plugin 3.7.1 (as it seems more active than the one from Servebox). I've manually created pom files for my projects and they work (though only compiling one swf artifact file, depending on whether I specify the main .as or one of the .css files as sourceFile)
I've tried for some days now to understand "The Maven Way" (which seems to be tailored for Java and not fitting perfectly for Flex), but couldn't get this to work so that I have a single project, or at least a single assembly with everything in it.
I'm using TextFormat to format a text field and I've noticed that, while there are properties for leftMargin and rightMargin, there are non for top and bottom margins. Is there any way to add some padding to the top and bottom of a text field? My text field has a background color, and right now the text is flush with the top and bottom edges of the box, which looks ugly
I want print some sprite which is created by "draw(someSprite)" method in BitmapData.Everything is fine but... I want put some margins in my print page, and I don't know how .Of course I could set right position of my "someSprite" but I don't want change my site to print it. (Using Rect... in BitmapData.draw() and addPage() dont work.) Simple flashdevelop project is in zip file.

This is not working to place the mc correctly on the page. This is all the Adobe help provides. Also Googled and tried different variations but no success.
I am trying to set left and right margins in textfield to be a certain amount of inches. How can I do this if the margin can only be set in pixels?
Won't it change whenever the resolution change?
I want the textfield in the application to be exported as a document file and printed. Is there anyway to set the margins that they are always the same no matter what computer or resolution it is on?
I have a movie in which I created several boxes with textFields inside (they are filled with some xml data). The thing is, I have to set them in place within the box, but I don't how to get rid of the space up and down the text (with a autosize true textfield). Here is an image [URL]. Is it possible to control a Flash movie from JS when you have no control over the source? I have decompiled the movie to see its inner workings, but I know nothing about Flash, so I'm mostly in the dark. I found this resource, Interaction with JavaScript, but it's not working for me (probably because I don't know what message to send to the movie).
I have a flex application and have embedded a flash (SWF) file into it using <mx:SWFLoader>. There is an "Exit" button on the Flash file. I want to be able to handle the button click event on the flex application.
So when that button in the flash file is clicked, I want to perform an action in the parent flex application.
if I use an <img src='images/pic.jpg' /> within a text box that is using classic text, dynamic text as its settings, it has been assigned "render text as html" and has been set to multiline, it works great, that is when my image is in the top of the text area. When I move the image to the end of the scrolling text, it makes my text block larger to accommodate the text instead of making it just scroll more.

I have been working with htmlText and everything is loading and appears fine with one minor exception. For some reason there is no space between paragraphs defined by the <p> tag. There will be a line break, but not the extra space between the paragraphs.
I been doing more programming in other languages through the past two flash changes and am now using CS5 (and AS 2.0) for work. Tell me, why doesn't this work:

I (well, a rather angry client) found an oddity I would like to consider a bug in formatting htmlText coming fom XML's toString() method with css.
If somehow an empty tag ends up in XML like <h1></h1>, all of the following text in the field is formatted to the CSS defined props of h1. In the (simplified DocumentClass) code below I have an XML object which has an empty h1-tag after the first sentence of the first paragraph. Placing the XML it in the field renders the text following the empty tag as bold and with the fontsize set for h1.
Strangely, if the html source is initialized as a string and put straight in the textField (see commented code), all formatting is OK.
I am having an issue using getCharBoundaries() with htmlText. In the following code, I am trying to get the location of <img> tags, so that I can then move the image to where the <img> tag in the text, rather than the image being placed on the next line. getCharBoundaries returns an actual rectangle when I use plain text, but when it's htmlText, the function returns null (I put in a trace statement just to make sure of whether I was getting null or not). I've read that getCharBoundaries() can be unpredictable; does anyone know of a workaround or why this might be happening?
I have a htmlText Field, and I wanna embed a Movieclip from my library into the text.I've tried everything for about 5 hours, nothing worked, even though the Adobe Help stated that it's possible:src: Specifies the URL to an image or SWF file, or the linkage identifier for a movie clip symbol in the library. This attribute is required all other attributes are optional. External files (JPEG, GIF, PNG, and SWF files) do not show until they are downloaded completely.
I am populating a dynamic text box with some information that comes from an xml.

I am also placing an image in the text box which you can see from the url above.I would like this url to be dynamic just like the other variables that are filling in the text box calledMarkerIndex, calledMarkerDate, calledMarkerDescription.
I have another variable which specifies the url I'd like named calledMarkerContent. I've tried simply chaning the text piece for this but it does not work.

I feel like maybe I am just making a scripting error. Or maybe I cannot use a dynamic variable in this place.
I have the following setup:wo textfields on the stage with Arial normal and Arial bold, both embedded. I then have another textfield which I am setting like so:tb.htmlText = "Test <b>Test</b>";For some reason, the bold text is not displaying as bold, but as regular weight. I have tried embedding the fonts in the library, using the [Embed] meta tag and even resorted to using CSS to force the fontFamily. Weirdly, I can use Font.enumurateFonts and see both fonts are embedded, but the textfield refused to use the bold version inside the < b > tags.I've been told this is a problem with Flash CS4 on a mac and that it will work on PC. I refuse to believe this is the case, however. Surely Adobe would have fixed this by now?
