ActionScript 3.0 :: Scale The Movieclip With The Browser Size With Constant Ratio?
Nov 12, 2010
[URL]This site have a video in the background with depixelizing effext. This effect is done with png grid. The video is scalable and keeps the right ratio with the browser resizing. But png grid is not scalable otherwise it will break the depixelizing effect. so i think that there is a large grid which revealed accordingly to the browser size.
How to scale the movieclip with the browser size with constant ratio and at the same time how to reveal more the movieclip with depixelizing grid accordingly to the browser window size without scaling?

I've created a website in Flash and have posted it to the net. I want it to scale as the user resizes the window, but having little formal training in Flash I'm not entirely sure how to go about it.

I'm a bit of a newbie, wondering how this scaling effect is possible. See www.sagmeister.com - when you scale your browser window, the entire site interactively shrinks or enlarges to fit. How is this done with Flash MX? Is it a publishing option or an actionscript or what?

I have created a fla file in adobe flash cs3. This contains a mainstage with a menu (is a movieclip) and a background (actionscript gradient). I have set the movie to scale so that when it is viewed in a browser it will be adjusted to the size of that window.
My problem or what I want is the following :
- The menu and text of that menu must stay the same size, as created in the fla file, when a scale is done.
- The content of the movie(not the menu) must stay in proportion.
An example site that I found, that demonstrates what I want is [URL]. You can change the browser window size and the menu text size stays the same but the content goes in proportion of the window size.

I have a video inside of another movieclip. When I go full screen, I scale up the outer movieclip to fit the screen. So that OuterMovieClip.width is equal to screenWidth etc. How do I maintain the aspect ratio on my video so it does not get distorted? Whats the proper math for that?

My question is in making a flash website the pictures never stay the same size, the resolution of a monitor changes my pictures to tall or fat looking, if not made in that resolution 1024x768. but i have seen some websites not do this, is there a back script in java in html or enbed in flash.

I want a movieclip in my swf file that will float a given number a pixels from the left side of my browser window. I have made my swf file trasparent and things outside of my stage show up and so far I have an actionscript code that will only use my stage size and I want the browser window size to control it.

I want to have a background movieclip of my SWF stretch to fill the browser window. I know there is a way to detect the size of the browser window in ActionScript, but I am unsure how to tell a movieclip to use those dimensions. I don't need to worry about changing the proportion of the movie clip as it is just a solid color

I would like to create a mass of images which doesn't have the same size/ratio. The images cannot overlap, but they should be placed as close to each other as possible, so you get a big picture created by a lot of small ones.

im trying to resize/scale a movieclip based on the browser window.i sort of got it working. but my prob is that i dont want it to scale beyond the browser size when u just stretch the width or height.check it outif u stretch just the width of the browser the image enlarges which i dont wont it to. heres the code/formula used in a onResize
var mywidth:Number = 955;
var myheight:Number = 575;
Enlarge = (Math.round(Stage.height/myheight*100)+Math.round(Stage.width/mywidth*100))/2;

I am new to Flash so this may be a basic question, but I have not been able to find anything in the help files or the forums. I have tried several times to change the size of my quicktime movies, from 550 pixels by 400 pixels to 480 pixels by 480 pixels, and I cannot seem to do it. I have used "Modify > Document" and tried every option I could find through this command. Each time I export I double check that the export settings match my desired size, and they do, but when I open the movie in quicktime, it has been stretched to fit 550 x 400 pixels. The preview movie looks exactl how I want, it is only the exported movie that is incorrect. Is it possible to make a quicktime movie of the size I would like, or is that a standard format that cannot be adjusted?
As a workaround, I have tried squeezing my 480x480 content into the 550x400 stage (while scaling it prportionally). but when I do this, the square of content is not centered in the background in quicktime. It is off center in the preview movie as well, and this commonly occurs after I have used "modify > document" to change the size of the document. The side to which it is aligned seems to be inconsistent. Is there a way to realign the video after I have modified the document size? Does changing the document size through "modify > document" affect the centering and alignment of my video? Is there a way to change it back?

I'm working on a large bitmap background site and for some reason, I can't get the bitmap to resize (with the correct aspect ratio) upon loading. It only works after the window has been resized. When I try to call the function after the bitmap has been loaded it displays nothing until the window is resized.This is my Actionscript:
ActionScript Code:
import flash.display.*;
// this tells Flash NOT to allow the assets to be scaled

[ X ] Problem solved I just came up with something i have some trouble to handle I've tried a couple of solution but none seems to work perfectly
What I'm trying to do is simple, get my flash to go full screen, but whatever resolution the user has, my flash must centers itself with the biggest proportion possible, and two movie clips goes right and left of it, as if they were borders.
I've been able to do this with a simple png, but i was not able with a movieclip where his dimension changes through time. ( i have a tween, so the mc gets really big even though just my stage is displayed)

With AS1/2 there was no way(that I know of) to determine the document size at runtime. You had to hard code in some vars. Although Stage.width and Stage.height would be the same as the document size when scaleMode is not 'noScale', if scaleMode is indeed 'noScale' then Stage.height and Stage.width represent the SWF size. This behavior appears the same in AS3, but I was wondering if there's any additions that make it possible?

I am trying to build a flash that auto-adjust its size to the browser window size, while leaving the content of the flash itself top-centered in the screen.I have found this solution [URL].. on How to keep centered stuff in this exact case so i am pretty confident i will be able to adjust that script to do what i want.
Now my problem is that if i put my content inside the movie-clip (centerrectangle) with all the animation require, link and other stuff, the movieclip (center rectangle ) never have the exact same center, thus making the script go wild trying to always adjust the location to the variable size of the movie clip.

I'm trying to print a movieclip from flash. I'm using the PrintJob pageWidth and pageHeight properties to scale the clip to be as large as possible. Also, I'm trying to center the movieclip on the page.Now, in the standalone player, this works. In a browser however, the margins appear to be zero:[code]But when printing, the margins are there, and mess up the page layout (not centered + cropping).

quick question that I'm stumped on.I'm making a flash banner advertisement to go on a few websites.The guidlines I was given say to adhere to 40kb eachThe only trouble is that the client gave me a 250 kb.swf file that he wanted to be included in the files, so I've imported it as a movie clip, and sized it down (pixel wise) to the appropriate dimensions.The end results end up being about 260kb each.Is there a way to dramatically optimize a .swf file? 40 kb seems pretty unreasonable for a 300 x 250 flash ad. Typically when I do these, they come out to about 100+ kb.

I have an image inside a MC called "hPic" and i want this MC to scale with the window when it's resized vertically, but it has to keep the same dimensions/aspect of the MC when it's scaled, not just stretch it vertically or the image will be distorted - so the proportions have to be constrained.
