I am using Flash 8 and AS2. I have been looking and looking, but I cannot find how to have an object follow the mouse at a Constant speed. The code I keep on finding is something like this:

endX = _root._xmouse;
endY = _root._ymouse;
_x += (endX-_x)/speed;

The "/speed" part makes the object move slower the closer it gets.

I was wondering if there is a way to adapt this code I am using on a button.[code]This code works fine on the button and moves the movieclip each time the button is pressed by the viewer. My problem is, I would like the viewer to be able to just hold the button down and the movieclip would constantly apply the _y -=4.Is it possible to adapt this script to make it constantly move while the viewer holds down the button? As it stands now, it only moves once when the viewer clicks the button. So in order to move the movieclip 8 pixels, the viewer would have to click the button twice.

I'm making a game and have zombies spawning on a stage using math.random()

What I want to achieve is their health bars follow them above their heads, However they aren't spawning when I use:

Is there anyway to make a movieclip follow the mouse. I have a menu, as a movieclip and when i roll over the menu i want something to pop up where the mouse is that says 'click & drag to scroll' my main menu is called: container_mc the movieclip i want to appear i have exported it for actionscript and is called mouseovermenu.This is the AS3 i have so far:

I am trying to get an object to track my mouse on press and i am using a tween. However, the nature of the tween is such that the time taken for the object would move would always be constant despite the distance.
 
I would like to make the object travel at a constant speed regardless of the distance. Is it correct for me to use a tween? If not what should I be using?The code for my tween is as follows.

I have thus far been successful, but there is one problem: the way I have it set up, speed increases with distance! I need the speed to remain constant. I understand why, but I can't figure out what approach to take to make the speed constant.

But png grid is not scalable otherwise it will break the depixelizing effect. so i think that there is a large grid which revealed accordingly to the browser size.

How to scale the movieclip with the browser size with constant ratio and at the same time how to reveal more the movieclip with depixelizing grid accordingly to the browser window size without scaling?

Imagine we have a MovieClip called "box". When I click somewhere on the screen, I want the box MC to move to that position. So I wrote something like this (just for horizontal movement):

Now this works to a degree, except that when the box MC moves to the right position, it then proceeds to vibrate on the spot. I thought it was probably because it can never move to the exact position of _xmouse because I'm adding 10 to the x property which is why the condition is never met. However even if I just add 1 instead of 10, I still have the same problem..

But unfortunately, the ship does not follow mouse rotation. The ship only rotates with respect to the mouse when you move the ship, not when you move the mouse.

I'm fairly new to using ActionScript to move MovieClips around. I'd like to have a movieclip follow my mouse around the screen (like a mouse cursor). I put one instance of the MC on my stage, with an instance name of 'a', without quotes. (identifier is 'box', class is 'boxClass', without quotes.)

I have Adobe Flash CS 5 and have been having difficulties trying to get a created tween to move at a constant speed. I have been converting a graphic I've created to a symbol and turning it into a motion tween, however I have only figured out how to move the tween on a frame by frame basis. Is there a way I can map out the full trajectory of the tween and then set it to travel along that pathway at a constant speed rather than moving from point to point within a certain number of frames? The desired result is a green circle that will bounce off the edges of the computer screen/window as it moves along at a constant speed in the appropriate direction. I am a flash novice and have been fiddling with the program for a few days

The problem I am having is modifing a script I got from action script 3.0 animation book that rotates ball objects around the Y axis. I'm not sure what to call this particular way of making the movieclip follow the mouse.When the mouse moves up, the movieclip plays through the frame. If the mouse moves down, the movieclip plays in reverse? I think that's how it works.

I need to do an endless horizontal scroll of elements within a parent MovieClip.No matter what ever method I try, an element of 'drift' occurs and eventually the elements start to overlap.I've tried using relative recursive tweening for each element according but this method seems prone to quite a bit of error after repeated starts and stops.

I am new to Flash and Actionscript and am currently working on some code pulled from another post to try and learn from what others are doing or have done. I have created a star movieclip and am attempting to move it randomly accross the stage in a relatively slow speed. When I run it, it moves randomly but way too fast. I have spent the last 6 hours playing with the code, researching help files and also looking up other discussions but nothing seems to be helping. Here is what I have so far. Change Playback Speed Of A MovieClip?

Using the deco tool Ive created a simple fire animation. The problem with this tool is that it wont let me set the speed above 200%. So my idea to solve this was to create a movie clip, use the deco tool there and somehow speed up the playback of this MovieClip.

Stage.frameRate = X works but it changes the frame rate of everything. fire_mc.frameRate = X doesnt work unfortunately.I dont need to it be precise. I just want this MovieClip to play 5 times faster that it plays now.

I'm looking for a piece of Actionscript 3 code which let's me adjust the speed of a movieclip.The command would tell a movieclip to play at a certain framerate (60 FPS, 30FPS, etc.)The movieclip involves a simple tween so I'm not sure if I should use a different method of tweening (only tween via AS3 code) or use a seperate AS3 script which let's me modify the framerate of the movieclip when it's played.
