ActionScript 3.0 :: When A Button Is Pressed / Content Movie Moves Down To Right / Scales Down

I am just learning actionscript 3.0 and am hoping someone can help me with a little problem. My code seems correct but only works half the time when I preview it. All I am trying to do is when a button is pressed, the content movie moves down to the right and scales down to 50%. The code works perfectly for the first few times I push the buttons but then starts to move some of the way and stop and I have to press the button at least one more time to get it to complete! Sorry this is so long winded but I don't know how to phrase it!
I have a symbol of a shape with a gradient drawn in Illustrator that I copied-and-pasted into Flash CS5. I created a simple motion tween by making the symbol move around the stage and scale. How do I now change the color of the symbol as it is moving on stage?
I am trying to get when a user mouses over the button some content shows up and moves with the mouse until that user moves off the button..does anyone know how i can acheive this...
Does anyone know how to resize all content on the site scales relative to the browser size of the viewer. Whether it is on a Netbook or a 30 inch screen all contents to fit on? I'm not talking about the basic center resize of stage.with and stage.heigh.
Basically I'm loading a content.swf in a main.swf and from the Main.swf, I want to be able to apply the resize all content method.
I am looking for a way to fade in a white movie clip over my main movie when a button is pressed.
(i.e. When you press a button, a white rectangle will fade in over all other layers and then fade out after a couple of seconds. This is to make it look like the different pages are fading in and out without having to build the transition over and over again.)
I'm developing a game, here is a screenshot:I have a function in my main loop called moveShip that moves the player's ship if some buttons are pressed. The trouble is, some commands began to break it recently, such as removeChild(debriefingScreen), and I have no idea why. Also, firing (spawning bullet movie clips) restores the moveShip functionality 0_
I have a dial that can be rotated and scrolls between 40 and 210. At the moment, this works all the time. Is there a way of getting this to work only when a button remains depressed?
I've set up a movie clip containing a button that jumps to frame two when pressed, and back to frame one when pressed again. SO the dial needs to work when the movie clip (containing the button) is stopped on frame two, but not on frame 1.
Soo this is a simple problem, i have a 60 frames movie in a Layer, and another layer with 2 buttons.I want the movie to play foward while one button keeps PRESSED, and to play backward when we keep pressing the other button.i tryed this simple code but it didnt work out.on (press) {nextFrame();}

i do flash at university and im pretty good with it. all im trying to do is push a movie clip when a button is pressed. pretty basic right? but it just doesnt appear the round in the movie clip plays just tha actual movie clip doesnt appear, its not hiding bejind the scene cos i have moved the whole scene and it still doesnt appear where it should. here is the code
So i am trying to use an OnRelease on a button in a nested movie but check if it's been pressed from the parent timeline..i have used the target path button and it got me this but it doesn't work..

This causes a mc to fade in and out on rollover/rollout. But what I wanna make is a box that fades in when pressed on the button and fade out when pressed for the second time. But if I say
on (press){ _root.fade = true; }
the mc fades in, but I cant do another on (press) to fade out. Is this too confusing?
I have a button, labeled "Main1," in a scene, "Main." When I click said button, I want an animation to start. Said animation is a movie clip named "ArrowAnim."Now, I have done something similar before in another project, using a code which I thought would have worked with this movie clip as well. I am trying to create a button that when pressed will make an movie clip visible and set it to a specific position on the screen. When this same button is pressed a second time the movie clip will become invisible.

i have a problem with flash mx 2004! I have 2 scenes.At first scene i have one button1 into in one movie clip1 and at second scene i have only one movie clip!!!Now, i want when i press the button (at first scene) i can to change the scales of movie clip2 (at second scene)! My code is this and i can go to scene 2 but i don't change the _scales!
I have a website which im designing exclusively in flash. The project size is 1000x500. The video which im using is 320x150. On the stage ive set the player to 320x150. The stage size is 1000x500 (thats the size and span of the website). When the page works from the internet. It expands to fill the screen of the viewing computer. Which is what i want anyway since Ive set my publish settings to get this. But the video player gets scaled along with the page that scales to occupy the viewing screen. So when the player becomes a little larger than its orginal size the video looks low quality. Is there a way that the player alone could be set to maintain its orginal size of 320x150 and not scale because this is causing the video to get distorted and pixellated ?
i would like to show my flash movie in a browser window so that it fills width and height as good as possible without distorting the movie. when i use the width and height attribute to the object/embed tags it only scales the width but not the height.

I'm looking to create a flash based popup window when a button is pressed within the flash movie. Not a javascript based html window or html browser window, but a window that is in the flash movie that is entirely flash based. I looked all over the internet and can't seem to find anything on this, and can't find anything on this board either. I am new to flash and actionscripting in general. I would also like to use the Tweener external class, or the flash tween class would work too.
I am trying to create a website for my Spa but having difficulty getting reservation buttons to work with a content movie clip.I set it up in four layers (from top) AS3, Page, Content, and Background. In Page layer is where I named each page like home, about us, full body treatments, and so on. There are a total of 9 pages one of which is the reservation page. In the "full body treatment page" I place a reservation button that I want to lead to "reservation page". I have been searching for days now on how to optimize this reservation button to go to the "reservation page".
I want to do something like gotoAndPlay(frame label) for a movie clip with the instance name content. I am using an array for my buttons placing multiple instances of the button mc on the stage. When I add content.gotoAndPlay I get an access of undefined property error. If I add it inside the parenthesis I get an expecting identifier before my frame label name error.
To start things off, I use Flash CS3.moving menu that moves on its own when the mouse moves around it. Like the menu moves up when the mouse moves down.[URL]i have found similar tutorials for what i wanted.. but they are AS2 or older versions of flash..and what i needed is more along the lines of AS3 as that's what my class is learning and using.Does anyone know of an AS3 or anything that works with Flash CS3 tutorial thats what I'm asking?
I have created a movie clip button but am stuck with the actionscript. I have created the rollover and rollout for this movie clip button but i want it to do 2 things after this i want it to go and stop on the first frame of a movieclip which has my content on it called portfoliogallery_mc (which is also the same instance name for it) when you then click the button i want it to go and play frame 11 of that movie clip portfolio gallery_mc. Here is my current actionscript i HAVE Flash 8 on my comp that i am currently using. Please note my actions are on a layer called actions and not on the movieclip button itself. nxtimagetwo_mc (is the movie clip button/instance of mc)
ive made a button and ive got it to randomly move to a different position on the screen.the probelm is when i click, everything else on the stage moves. They are all on different layers.How do i get different buttons to only move when i click on them, otherwise they stay where they are
I'm trying to create a set of 4 vertically arranged buttons that 'split' apart when those buttons are pressed. For example, if you click the topmost (1st) button, the bottom three buttons will drop down so submenus (for the 1st button) can now be revealed beneath. Again, when you click the 2nd button from the top, the bottom two buttons drop down, revealing submenus, and so on.
Now, is there a way that I can use actionscripting to tween the buttons to not only motion tween a drop down when a button is first pressed, but also to motion tween the button to return up to its original spot when another button is then pressed? Right now, I have two keyframes, side-by-side which each containing a different y-scale value for an object. Can I do some actionscripting to get the object to motion tween upward to its original spot instead of "clicking," or snapping back to is original spot when another button is pressed?
I want the press button to detect the last button pressed and if the shapes match, make them do something...obviously. I think I'm going at it the wrong way. I need to stick a "triange" id into the button/mc then if compares that and then if there is a match works then... right?
