I am trying to edit a website for a friend (built with Flash and XML) and i can't seem to get into any of the .Fla files.I don't know if it is my version of Flash (CS4) or the files and not sure how i could test it. Could also just be a CS5 file hence i can't open it.URL...
I installed Flash CS4 Professional trial version for school use. It wouldn't install successfully. I deleted the font files the troubleshooting guide said to, tried again, but gave up. (I'm afraid to run regedit and mess up everything else I have loaded.) (I previously had the Fireworks CS4 trial version loaded, then uninstalled it.) My problem is this- I have it running, but it saves files and then they can't be opened, even if I use the save function often- it's worse when I create the file, test the movie and then save.If I try to open it again, it says "cannot open file." Once it opened a copy I had saved, and it appeared blank, even though it was 544 kb file size. I only need it for a few more days, one more assignment and I'm afraid my previous files are corrupt. I have Windows Vista Home Edition.
I use the translator. Not for a long time has decided to pass from the version cs3 and to put itself the version cs4 flash. All has risen like normal, was installed... But is while one any not clear thing to me, cs4 cannot start SOME source codes.fla (from template monster.com) which at me were easy started on the version cs3, the program simply starts to hang, and as a result I need to finish the appendix
I'm trying to access a Flash file, created in CS4, in Flash 8 but am getting an "Unexpected file format." error. Is it just not possible to open the file in Flash 8?
Download and install CS5 trial version but can't open flash files with flash CS5. Got error message like this:'Slides and forms documnets are not supported in this version of Flash.
Does full version support flash file with slides? If not, what can I do with the old flash files which created by Flash MX2004.

I just uprgraded my Mac OS from 10.4 to 10.6. Now some of my Flash files open with no timeline and nothing on the stage. If I try to open a library item it crashes. I tried reinstalling Flash and installing all updates to the OS.
I cannot open any .fla file with FlashBuilder 4 under Windows:When I click on a .fla file I get the following error: "Windows cannot find 'Flash'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and try again."
I make all the Flash banners for my company including onsite events and IMAX films. There are pre made banners that I (we) are allowed to download and use from trusted sites (Paramount/Universal/IMAX/ etc). These are sent out so we can plug in our branding to promote the films locally. In the past year, all the Flash files that I have downloaded or had mailed to me on a disc will not open. The error that I get says:Failed to open document./Users/myname/Desktop/Flash Banners/FLASH/genericflashfile.fla.I first though that maybe the studios were using CS4 or now CS5, but the icon that comes with the .fla files are definetly CS3. I even purchased the SWF Decompiler as a work around, but once I decompressed the swf file, and then re-exported as a fla file, I received the same failed to open error.Files I create on my own work fine.I was wondering if I missed an update for CS3, but I double checked and am up to date.
CS 5 made the most terible thing I ever could imagine. I saved over the last files and some temp files in order to have backup of my project. I saw something is wrong and don`t open the first file, so I saved 3 more times. I restart and now Flash don`t open those files. The flash open old files, but I`m going back for three days.

I'm trying to create a rotating cone using papervision where all the segments can be filled with a color / image separately. So just like you can use a MaterialsList to render all the sides from a Cube separately.
I have been working on a files in CS3 for a while however, my CS3 trial ran out so i downloaded the CS4 one. Now when i open the same file via CS4, it says: "Could not load scene into memory, Your file may be damaged."Then most elements are there buy some are missing the MC's are in the libary but are now empty.
Good day to everyone. I'm here today to seek help about Flash CS4 and ActionScript 3.0. The story starts when one day, my boss asked me to make a flash presentation about their upcoming user training for a newly developed software. I was enthusiastic and excited about it because it's been a long time that I did not use Flash (note that I don't have any experience in ActionScript 3.0). At first, everything was a bit rough as I need to recall how to properly use the frames to create a successful animation. As I was about to finish the project, my boss approached me again and asked if I could insert a menu page in front so that the users won't have to replay the whole thing again just to look for a little something on that part of the movie. So yea, at first I was abit hesitant to accept. I said that it will work with Powerpoint. But she's a total pusher and I was forced to say yes. Now I'm having this problem about how to make a flash button load a swf movie.I've tried searching all over the net for tutorials but most of the times the "getUrl" and other stuff are said to be outdated.
I use the Open Resource Window (Command-Shift-R) a lot in Flash Builder and it saves me a lot of time. But I canīt seem to get it to work with my projects xml files. I know this has been working on previous projects ut I canīt find any settings for this.
I'm thinking about making a game that would have 3 "save slots", so you could play the game and then load the game later. If you were to save the game, basically flash would store a list of variable values into a text file.
Let's say I have game.swf in a folder named MyGame. Also in that folder I'll have save1.txt, save2.txt, and save3.txt. If I'm loading a game, I'd want Flash to open that txt file, read the values, and then set the variables equal to that in the text file. So if you open save1.txt and you see a=1, b=3, and c=2, I'd want flash to then take those values and set it's own same variable a = 1, b = 3, and c = 2.
On the other hand, if you're saving a game, let's say a=10, b=10, and c=10, I'd like it for flash to open save1.txt and replace the text there with a list of the current variables.Flash would need to do one more thing... if for some reason the file were deleted, Flash would need to create a new txt file. If the txt file is missing, you couldn't load, but if you're trying to save to save1.txt and that file doesn't exist, I'd need flash to create a new save1.txt and then put the variables into it.
I own and I am trying learn and use the CS3 Master collection which comes with Flash 9. I own and had a website built several (9) years ago which I am trying to update the files, So basiclly, I am trying to make updated changes to my own orginal .swf files and todays Flash program give me the message of "cannot open protected movie" I was not ever aware we locked any of the oringal .swf files we produced.
I've created something that comes close.Download includes all open-source material and a manual to create your own audio-driven animations in Flash 5, and a player skinned by renascent of [URL]
This is driving me nuts and because it's a combination of various technologies together I have a hard time tracking the problem. I wrote a tiny HTTP server that serves .flv files; these flv files are encoded on the spot. The flv files are encoded with adobe's screencodec (I started with libflv but that was too buggy so I ended up implementing my own flv encoder). For the problem below it doesn't matter which codec I use or if I serve plain flv files instead of on-the-spot generated ones (the problem also occurs if I just send 12 h264 encoded files).
I also have a swf that I coded in as3. The as3 opens 12 connections to my server and requests 12 different flv's and just displays them as 12 different videos on the page. I tested the setup with Firefox and chrome and am using the latest flash client (version 10). The HTTP server is pseudo streaming those files; e.g. it tells the client the file is of mime type video/x-flv, tells the filesize is 2GB and just starts streaming. For sake of completeness here's a header it generates:
. My current project has me needing to open a .FLA file in a template. I am using Adobe Flash CS3 Pro but every time I try to open a fla file all I get is "UNEXPECTED FILE FORMAT"!I have tried several different FLA files with the same result?
I'm having trouble opening some .fla files using Adobe Flash Professional 8. The one's on my computer are fine, but some (not all) the ones on other peoples systems don't, I'm using CoreFTP to access them, but some when I go to view them says "unexpected file format", and the same is true if I try to transfer them over to my computer.
I've recently taken over the website for the company I work for (has been freelanced outside of the office). The previous webdesigner created a flash menu for the top of the pages, as well as a flash element on one other page. I have no Flash knowledge. On the other page with the flash element here: [URL], in the page content on the right there's the bulleted, numbered links. See how the numbers aren't centered on the button? I'm able to open the fla file & can find the elements & where I need to edit, but no matter what I do I can't get the numbers to center on the button.
I've opened each & selected both the number (which is a text element) & the button & have centered horizontally, made the same width & height, etc., etc. but they're still not centering. Now for the menu bar at the top of the page (can look at same page for reference), I can't figure out how to change the text on some of the buttons. For instance I want to change Home Serves to read Custom Homes. I find the symbols & they appear to be images, so is it safe to assume the previous designer created buttons with the text already on them? Also how do I removed some of the drop down items in the menu bar, specifically under Our Galleries?
I have downloaded Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Shockwave Player to play some swf files I have downloaded. These files still say that Windows can't open them though and I don't know why. I've tried uninstalling reinstalling etc but the computer doesn't seem to know the Flash Player is there.
I am having a road black -how do you open a file, no matter where the application is installed, if that file is inside a package in your application? is it application directory? or application storage directory?
For example I have File A in package A and File B in package B File A needs to open File B regardless of where userX installs the application.
I am using flash 8 or flash mx, and I want to open a web site and some pdf files. I have my projector set to fullscreen but when I open a web site or a pdf file these files open behind my projector so my final user doesn't realize that the pdf files or the web site is displayed. How can I force the web site or the pdf file to open on top of my projector or is there a way to minimize my projector when I click these buttons so the user realizes that these files opened.
I can not get my pages where I have swf files to open in firefox. I have several pages with sound also and they will not open. here is the code that I am using. I have probably 8 pages of flash and the rest of the pages are javascript and html.
