Nov 12, 2007Im using tree component and XMLConnector here.as far as i can see results in my tree (when testing my movie) it ouputs data thats loaded fom ext. XML file.But the problem is that it publishes [type Function] in the tree. no actual xml nodes are visible, just bunch of [type
Function] ive also searched for info / tutorial how to publish actual xml data in the tree component but without any luck.So what should i do and how ?

Sep 18, 2006I'm exploring various ways to get data into a DataGrid component from a remote service. I've managed to use DataGlue to map my results to different fields the DataGrid, however what I'd like to do is use the component inspector to and bindings. The Problem i have is that I want to display only certain fields. so in the remoting connector i have this set up conn::results.items.[n].id => grid::dataProvider.[n].identifier Now I would assume that my grid would show the id in the results returned but it doesn't. I've seen a lot of posts on this so I know there are a lot of others puzzled by this.

Aug 9, 2006Seeing as the Access database solution I spent 2 days developing won't work without a web server with IIS installed. I am developing a data storage solution binging my text input component directly to a dataset and hopefully storing the entire dataset using a local SharedObject.
I have 2 text input components both bound to the dataset. For one these components I only ever want to store one record (i.e. the last good known voucher number). So right before I add a new value (using the code below) I want to delete the old value in that column/row combination.[code]...

May 12, 2009I have been given the task at work to create a interactive tree. A little like a family tree, but instead of people it will be branches (think of them as buildings). I've spent a day or so looking and finding out how to get the data from my SQL database in a format that flash can read it etc. Anyhow the problem is I don't really know where to start with the graphical aspect of it...
Each branch can have more than one child and i want the user to be able to scroll through the history of that branch, seeing it's parent branch and also it's child branches, each branch will have a certain amount of information to show. So it's almost as if i need to create a branch class and then use this and load all the data into it etc.
Should i create a new layer for each branch? Then when the user clicks a down button i just take them to a new layer? Do i create the whole thing on one layer and have navigation buttons so the user can scroll around the window and see all the other branches?
It would be nice if i could draw the damn thing at run time, and the user almost walks along lines from one branch to another, and has the option which path to take if one branch has more than one child etc.
Flex :: Data Binding With A Value Inside A Component ?
Mar 30, 2010I'm using Flex with Cairngorm framework.I have a custom component which I create like this:

Where the findFriendsPaginationElement is inside the model locator:

Inside the custom component I have button that uses a property of findFriendsPaginationElement object:

But I get a warning from Flex that the binding wouldn't work that way and it doesn't. It works the first time I load up the component but every time I change findFriendsPaginationElement it doesn't reflect on the component. Do you know how I can go about doing this? (making changing a value in the binding variable changes the status of an element inside a component?)

Flex :: Passing Parameter From Main To Component With Data Binding
Aug 22, 2010I have a main mxml file (flex4) and want to pass a parameter (user_name) to a component in a directory called components. When I run the program, the user_name is NOT being sent from the main to the component file. (Interestingly, if you make the component visible, you can see the parameter has been passed).
I have hacked much larger files down to get the following two files:

Jul 6, 2007I'm using the XML Connector to bind information to a List Component. Everything binds okay but when I run the MC I only get one item of information. The object I'm binding from the XML is called "Location" and there are a total of 5 listed in the XML. The five are Los Angeles, Seattle... The only one being displayed is Los Angeles. What do I need to do get the other 4 locations to display in the list?

Nov 11, 2007i am having a problem with setting up the filpath and datasource using the component inspector for OFFLINE development.I am using Windows XP Pro Service Pack 1.I then installed Network Services although I am OFFLINE.I then installed IIS.I then installed mySQL 5.0 Community Server as a Windows service and client. I then installed PHP5.I am using Flash 8 Pro.I now have a c:php (the php did not create a c:phpwww directory as the instructions say to use)IIS created a c:Inetpub and c:Inetpubwwwroot directory [which I tried putting the flashsql_v51.php file in to no avail)

Apr 26, 2007I'm having an issue with TextFormat tags that are appearing in textfields. Here's an overview of what I'm doing: Basically, I'm trying to grab the text from a textArea component: (myText = myTextArea.text")
Because I want to retain formatting, I have the textArea set to be html. Thus, myText becomes the text you see below
So the myText data is then stored in XML, but later when I try to access it, it fills that same textArea component with the literal code rather than the formatted text. How do I take that TextFormat string and convert it back to it's original form? I've

Sep 12, 2007The AS2 DateChooser has just the functionality I need to build the events calendar that I have to build .. however .. while I know what to do in theory, I'm stumbling on (a) whether it will work and (b) syntax.
I want to display an instance of the DateChooser (myDate) and access the selectedDate property when the user selects a date. Then I need to pass it to the main events page preferably on the same page with something like this:
SELECT EventTitle. EventDescription, EventLink FROM Events
WHERE EventDate = MMColParam
MMColParam 1 myDate.selectedDate
The page itself is ASP. I am thinking I would probably define a variable and perhaps use LoadVars to load the selected date from Flash .. not something I have done before.
Perhsps something like
dim eventDate
eventDate = myDate.selectedDate
I'm sure that's not the syntax .. but I think that is the theory. I should be able to access the selectedDate property of the Date Chooser instance and feed the date into the query to select the events on that date and list them.

Nov 19, 2011I'm trying to make a Flex Tree Component display the children of a sprite in a hierarchical way. Moreover, dragging the items on the FlexTree would resort and reparent the items. I have special Elements set as Folders. This would allow other elements to be added there as a children by dragging an element on the tree and dropping it there. I have a failed attempt which works, but breaks when I try to add folders. Basically, it fails at reparenting the items by dragging and resorting folders and that Does anyone know of a component or something which can do this, has anyone have created any of this or could anyone give me a clue?

Nov 4, 2011If user change the value of the TextInput, then click refresh button to retrieve the data model from backend again, the GUI value will not change back. Re-binding not happen, Since the value of data model not changed, no propertyChanged event fired.In this case, I must Programmatically set the model value to the GUI after data refreshing done.I know bi-directional binding can solve this problem(when user change value on GUI, set the new value to data model immediately). But sometimes I cannot use bi-directional binding, for example, the data model is a int, but user input a non-int value, I cannot set the value to data model. So the value in data model do not change, when refresh data, rebinding still not happen.
This will make the data binding useless. How to resolve this?I put pseudo-code here for now, I will put real code later:1. retrieve a data model from server, via blazeds or something else.2. bind the model to a TextInput on GUI.3. user change the TextInput text.4. User click a refresh button, triger retrieve the model value again.5. Now since the model value do not change, no PropertyChanged event fired.6. GUI value still is the user's input, not the value from the model. can clear the model value before set the velue back, make re-binding happen.(but sometimes you do not know how to clean the model value, take int for example, you may do not know the original value and happen set the same value). Or I can manually set the model value to GUI. But both are not good looking.

Now I have some developers working on a CMS type page in PHP that is going to hopefully pass some sort of information to my player that will let it know where the video is stored on our server. Is there a way to do this without using FMS? If so does anyone have ideas where I can find the information for it.

I want to dynamically bind the "enabled" property on a button so that if the "somethingChanged" event fires, a button may become enabled or disabled. But, I'm not sure where to fire the "somethingChanged" event. It's possible that I may need to fire the "somethingChanged" event from several places in the application. Is this possible with a bound static function?

Jun 24, 2010What I have is a class with static properties that I want to use as images. I would like the images to be configurable at run time but still have the defaults. So the Images class looks like:

Clicking the button will change the static property in the Images class to something else. The image defined in the MXML will get the binding event and update the image, but the custom component created in ActionSctipt will not be updated.
