Jan 18, 2007I am new to web services in flash. I am running Flash 8 and am attempting to use the Web Services component. I have defined my web service, bound to text fields on my form. Every thing works fine when I test the movie. Data is returned as it should. But when I put the movie on the web and I try to get data back, I get nothing.

Dec 5, 2011I'm making a program in flash builder 4.5 using WebOrb 4 (which is fantastic, I might add). When I go to deploy, however, it gives me this error:

Feb 6, 2010I'm integrating a Flash-free web site with Facebook Connect.Loading it in Internet Explorer 7 (only in IE 7, not IE 6 nor IE 8) I get the famous IE information bar saying that the current web site requires the Adobe Flash Player and asks me if I want to install it.
If I remove the code needed to the Facebook Connect integration (some facebook-hosted javascript files), IE does not ask me to install Flash anymore.As I've already said my web site does not require Flash at all and with IE 6, IE 8, Firefox or any other browser I'm not asked to install the Adobe Flash Player.Is this normal? Does Facebook Connect require Flash? Does it need Flash only with IE7?
Java ::Spring MVC: RESTful Web Services + BlazeDS Integration Possible?
Oct 29, 2010I have a Spring MVC web application which provides RESTful web services via a controller class (annotated with @Controller) which has methods mapped to specific request types and signatures via @RequestMapping annotations.I have attempted to integrate a BlazeDS service destination into the mix by 1) adding the HttpFlexSession listener to the web.xml, 2) adding the flex:message-broker and flex:remoting-destination declarations to my Spring application context configuration file, and 3) adding a generic /WEB-INF/flex/services-config.xml.
The above BlazeDS integration steps appear to have hosed my RESTful web services, in that it appears that requests are no longer being routed to the controller methods. Is it even possible to do this, i.e, to have a single web application which 1) services HTTP requests via request mapped controller methods and 2) services remote object method calls (i.e. from a Flex client) via a BlazeDS service? If so then can anyone tell me what it may be that I'm doing wrong?

Jan 1, 2010I have a video player that is currently using XML for its video library which is all fine and dandy. Now I have some developers working on a CMS type page in PHP that is going to hopefully pass some sort of information to my player that will let it know where the video is stored on our server. Is there a way to do this without using FMS? If so does anyone have ideas where I can find the information for it.

Nov 12, 2007I'd like to create one empty Flash movie that is essentially a placeholder for externally loaded content I can change through XML. This content would just be able to randomly load 1 of 3 photos, with a button linking to a website within each of the photos on page load. If the user refreshes the page, a new photo with it's link would appear, but I understand since it's random,having 3 images the same image is likely to reappear, but I can always add additional photos and links.
Does anyone know of a tutorial that might lead me on the correct path to create this? I've found some tuts, but they've been different than my need.

Feb 1, 2007We want to be able to upload over 100+ files (if needed) to a server along with desc + keywords. I see that Flash 8 has the neccessary tools to handle file uploading, but my question is, can we have it act as a Stand alone FTP program so that we can utilize the fastest user upload, or will we be confined to the settings in the server INI settings.IE MAX_UPLOAD_TIME,MAX_FILESIZE, etc. If possible we want to avoid using the HTTP upload as it is noticeably slower. So if we can use flash to utilize user BW to upload, then that would be ideal.

Sep 5, 2006We have implemented a Flash photo slideshow on our site and it works just fine for most of our users. Whenever the xml.load(success) returns false I have the Flash email me a debug report. For the life of me I can not find a common thread between all of these people having problems with the Flash. I don't think it's a cross-domain issue because it works for most people, and I have the crossdomain.xml files where they should be.

Apr 7, 2006Does anyone know of any really easy and effective ways to move complex data types from PHP into FLASH and vice-versa? A while back I made an attempt to recreate PHP' serialize() function in actionscript but it was really difficult and performance was poor.
I'm able to do it fairly easily for one dimensional arrays indexed by numbers, but when I have to pass either an object (or several objects) or when i have to pass a nested array of arbitrary complexity (such as a data tree) then I get bogged down.
I have a little experience dealing with XML in flash (working with the tree component) but it seems like so much effort when i am dealing with a new data type.
Does anyone know of any pre-packaged components or code (in actionscript and complimentary part in php) that might be useful?
