View 0 RepliesI am trying to program a simple chat program. I have looked all over the net for an easy to use tutorial for exchanging information between Flash 5 and a MySQL database. The reason this is so hard is because I just started PHP and MySQL last week.
A. Sending 1 line of text to a table in a MySQL database via PHP.
B. Allow flash to retrieve the latest line of text from a table.
I have developed a java program as a part of my homework and have to build "really good" GUI for it as is the demand.I would like to know if I can develop a flash based gui and then run my java code behind it since I have learnt flash before ??Since I have some time constraint I don't think I would be able to implement full dragabble features using swing and java applets.

View 3 Repliesi want to create a chat app using flex 4.5 mobile project for android device. For the chat screen, i wanted it to look glossy and stylish. Hence i thought i would use the list component and disable the selection in it. I m able to add the chat messages into the list. But i doubt if large chat data might hinder the performance. Im using a collection and i ve binded it with the list. Whenever i receive a chat i update the collection and it gets displayed in the list. Can someone tell me if his could pose a performance problem as list component is not intended for this purpose.

View 3 RepliesI know that IntelliJ makes it really easy for you to develop and start a FLEX project. However, I am wondering if there is a way to do the same with Flash App Development. I do not need the MXML file and other things that come with Flex. I just want to be able to start a Flash project like I would in Flash CS5 and be able to run the .swf file from IntellIJ. Not having the UI tools is not a concern to me.
Is there a way to do this. Are there ways to achieve this?

But what I want is when a player presses a keyboard button, the first animation of the MC rotating will be played, then when the play head hits stop the MC will stay in this same position (pos from last frame) until another key for example up is pressed.

I have created a flash program and I would like to run a second flash program from inside the first. To explain, say I am running a program that draws a circle and fills it with a color. Then, I have designed a second program that will divide a circle into sectors by entering percentages, to turn that circle into a pie chart. Is there a way to be running the "draw a circle" program and have a button that opens the "divide the circle into sectors" program in a new window and then passes information from that program to the first program. I am sure I will have to send the information from the second program to an XML file and then have the first program recieve it from the XML file (which I can do), but I don't know if I can run the second program from inside the first program.

Now my problem is, the functions or any movements based on the timer, is very slow. Where as when I put that timer in a separate file, the movements are faster.
