Flash :: Full Screen Site Not Working On PC IE / Firefox Only (mac Works Fine)
Aug 6, 2009
My full screen flash site works oerfectly on Mac's (I have a mac). But on PC IE and Firefox the full screen flash site is cut off 1/4 of the way down the page (see screen shots in zip or test if you are on PC). live site [URL] The site uses a swf object (files included in the zip). I got this from a template on flashDen. my problem is that I only have my mac and can't test on PC IE / firefox. Not that I would know where to start. I think that the problem might be the swf object from [URL] but not sure? I need to sure my site to apply for jobs. But recruiters use PC and it is very embarrassing that they can only see 1/4 of the screen.

Has anyone hear or seen anything like this happen before? BTW the website was created in Adobe Flash CS4/ AS 3.0 and published using Flash Player 10.

my site is comprised of several images loaded dynamically and added to the display list. i declare a bunch of loaders on the first frame, and add a preloader progress listener to the largest image to have one preloader for all the assets. I then added a COMPLETE listener to the same image, and add that image, along with all the others in the onComplete function. i have two issue. the preloader doesnt work in Safari. but works fine in Firefox? and i'm totally stumped on what it could be? another compatibility issue that seems to be arising is that one of the galleries of my site which corresponds to the "drawn" link. also does not seem to be working in Safari, but works in Firefox. its a fairly simple xml based image gallery, which loads thumbs on to the stage, and then loads a larger version of each, when the corresponding thumbnail is clicked. the other galleries of the site work fine in safari, and are basically the same code wise.heres my code for the loading and preloader in the first frame
Code:
import caurina.transitions.*;
stop();

Here's the site: [URL] From feedback I've gotten, it appears that under certain circumstances the first image in a set of images does not load properly, although I haven't seen it myself. I'm told this happens only in Firefox. And I believe only Flash player 8. Works fine with FF and Flash player 9, or IE with 8 or 9 I believe.

I am using a flash website template (basically stripped of 95% of the code they provided, and just using their graphics) from [URL] I needed to add streaming video, and I elected to use PHP streaming found on www.flashcomguru.com; as modified by lance of courierwebcasts [URL].
The problem I have is that when I use the scrubber.swf to play a video, updating variables and addresses as appropriate, it works fine. However when I take it and recreate every element of the player in a movie on the timeline of my template site, everything but the time counter works fine. It plays fine, it scrubs fine, etc.; it just always displays 00:00/00:00. I am guessing it has to do with variable definition or somethingbut it is beyond me... any help?
Here is just the bit that I am pretty sure is the issue;
code: ns["onMetaData"] = function (obj) {
duration = obj.duration;
durationMinute = Math.floor(duration/60);

It looks like the resizing of a flash movie does not work in firefox.When i export a swf with the publish settings width=100%, height=100% the movie resizes well in the flash environnement and in ie but in firefox, the height stays constant (200 pixels !!?)I tested with the code below (and the publish settings to size=100%)
------------------------
_root.createTextField("txtTop",1,0,0,200,30);
_root.createTextField("txtBot",2,Stage.width-200,Stage.height-30,200,30);

getting this here Flash website to work. It is an .swf that has four different buttons in it. Each different button uploads a different video thumbnail with a play-button over it. When you click on that thumbnail with the play-button over it, it goes to the thumbnailed video which automatically plays. Here is the link:
[URL]
There are no bells and whistles with the html, it's just tagged and uploaded with the Fullscreen-true so that you can make the video go full-screen.
But see, when I upload the thing, the buttons no longer navigate to the different videos unless the play-button over the thumbnail is already pressed and its video is already playing. I need them to work anyways.

am trying to get around succeeding a full screen site in flash with AC3, but always ending with no satisfying result, I am trying the 100% on both the width and height in the html file, but at the end it doesn't work properly, I don't get a full screen, and when I get it, the files seems to be doubled kind of streched to fit the screen, the writings and images are as twice as their original size in the flash documents, any one has a tutorial or somewhere where I can find an answer to this:I am lokking to making something closer to this:[URL]

Just finished our new site which is full screen Flash effort (link in my signature if you're interested), now I would really like to implement some accessibility features, bookmarking, history etc.The whole site has a central navController function through which nav requests pass which I've developed with this in mind, and I've got a vague idea of how to do this using invisible frames and passing variables through FlashVars but is there any consensus on what is the absolute best way of doing this? The new Attik site is a good example of what I want to achieve [url]

trying to create a character selection screen type thing works fine on my computer but when i load it to internet characters dont load up dont understand why characters and profile images are external image files so i think that reason why its not working is because the swf is trying to display the image before its properly loaded up
so im thinking perhaps if i add some sort of bytes total/bytes loaded script where its trying to load up and display the image it will check if the image is fully loaded before it tries to display the image think that will work ... if that's what the issue is
but not certain.

How to create a fluid / liquid / fit to screen flash site with scrollBar. I am pretty much new to AS3 and flash. I have been looking for a way. To have, a background image contained in a MovieClip. Let's say: bg_mc and have it scaling automatically to fit the different user's Internet browser screens size. In other hand, have another MovieClip that handles and holds the site. Let's say: content_mc without being affected by the scaling of the bg_mc. And last, in the case... the content_mc height does not fit in the user's internet browser. Have the internet browser with its scrollBar so the user can scroll down and see the rest of the site. (right now my content_mc is being cut off the screen).
Examples Flash sites with this layout: [URL]. The Next Code: it does generate a full browser's background image but there is no scroll bar for IE or FireFox and in some cases stretch my content_mc if i play too much with StageScaleMode.
// -----> AS3.0
import flash.display.Stage;
import flash.display.StageScaleMode;
import flash.display.StageAlign;
var myStage:Stage = this.stage;
myStage.align = StageAlign.TOP_LEFT;

I have one .swf that loads a second one on level 2.level 2 then in turn loads variables from a text file .The problem is that it works locally, but refuses to work on the server. The urls are all local. This is such a simple procedure, I can't figure out what is wrong..... are there limitations doing this via server vs. locally? I never get any "file open" errors locally. I've spent 2 hours on this.... I'm just using a simple LoadVars similar to this example:
Code:
loadText = new LoadVars();
loadText.load("text3.txt");

I have a project whose final deliverable is a Windows projector, but is also published as a swf so the client can proof it remotely online. The projector has the following line of code: stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN; which, of course, makes the projector go to full screen automatically upon launching it. Unfortunately, it prevents the swf from playing at all (not sure why). So I am constantly commenting and uncommenting that line, since I usually publish to both swf and projector. Is there a way to rewrite that so that it works in the projector, but does not stop the swf from playing?
One idea I had was to do something like: "If (I am not a swf) {stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN;}" Or alternately: "If (I am a projector) {stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN;}" I'm not sure this is possible, or, if it is, what the as3 code would be for it.

I have a movie that retrieves an RSS feed from this URL: [URL]
The XML document can be successfully parsed in Flash when viewed in Firefox, but it doesn't work in IE. Here is a file that demonstrate this: [URL]
However, if I open the RSS feed and save a copy of it and post it to my web server, it does work in IE: [URL]
Here's the version of the RSS that is working when saved: [URL]
I don't believe that there is any difference in the two XML documents. Cross domain policy files are in place on both servers - and it doesn't appear to be a cross-domain issue since it works in Firefox.
The code in the flash files are the same except for the URL of the XML they are retrieving. Here's the code for the one that isn't working:
var xmlFeed:XML = new XML();
xmlFeed.ignoreWhite = true;
xmlFeed.load("http://www.clipsyndicate.com/rss/feed/5572?wpid=2892");
xmlFeed.onLoad = function(success) {
txtTest.text=xmlFeed;
}

I made a trivia game app that lets me enter text into input fields when the app is fullscreen on my trivia laptop. When I try running the swf on my home laptop, sometimes it lets me enter text, sometimes it doesn't. I can't remember what I did on my trivia laptop to allow text entry under full screen. Can someone please shed some light on under what conditions Flash allows it? I'm wondering if I set up the trivia laptop to run swfs using a debugging version of Flash or something, but I can't remember. As far as I can tell, it's just using the Flash player.
