Flash - HTML5 Resizable Websites With Different Resolutions

I'm trying to build a website that looks the same (or at least very similar) even with different resolutions. I know it's a pretty simple thing to do with Adobe Flash, but I'm kinda trying to get into the whole "HTML5 scene" so I thought I could try building it without using flash at all. I know I can resize the canvas to fit the window of the browser it's being viewed in, but can I also resize images, text and other HTML structures that I place inside the canvas? Like s, s, s or images?

I am trying to achieve a flash project with a background that is required to be stretched. Otherwise it looks funny.
My idea was to create different dimensions of the background, and according to the screen resolution the visitors has, the flash document publishes the background that is meant for the visitors screen resolution.
* And, can the flash document "strech" also? So I can put the different backgrounds in the flash document, and the flash document widens so it covers the whole web browser window?

I'm just trying to understand how once HTML5 enters the picture, the current concerns about browser incompatibility and other issues go away? Wouldn't HTML5 simply add another set of browsers to the large list of current browsers that the application must target?
That is, assuming the enterprise web app requires one of these new HTML5 features (e.g. playing audio and/or video, integrating SVG or vector graphics, etc.). If such a feature isn't critical then graceful degradation may be acceptable and then my question is moot.
But for those apps that require one of these new HTML5 features, are you planning to support older browsers, or expecting it's acceptable to restrict to HTML5 browsers because the enterprise in question has made one of them their new corporate standard (or other scenario, etc.)?

I made my flash website on my wide screen laptop, and it looks fine in my browser but when i look at it on a normal monitor it looks too big and streches across the screen. Is there anyway i can get it to stay the same size on different resolutions. I'm currently using As2

I'd like to have the swf get as big as possible for each user without requiring scrolling. Of course it would stick to a certain ratio, currently I'm using 2:1 but that could be changed (maybe I should use 16:9 since it is the standard widescreen ratio).
I am only using Actionscript 3 for code and MXMLC for compiling.

people i am having a problem to adjust my site to different resolutions. i have tryed severral options like putting 100% to with and eight but what i really want is something like is told in this tutorial (see image)
the problem is that my site is done is as2.0 and the tutorial is done is as3.0, and it refers to a rectangle with a background, and i want to addapt it to my site and dont know how.

I was wondering if any one can be kind and help me, I was looking on google about a class or component in as3 that allow me to load an assets like a swf or image an give me so sort of handlers to change the size of the asset loaded, you know like in flash when you want change the size of a symbol you have a little squares handlers that you can pull to change the size, I don't want to reinvented the wheel, and I'm sure it should a be a class or component that I get or buy,

I want to create a button which resize dynamically with content. to achieve this, I created a MovieClip in library and added four layers into it namely - text, bg, shadow and border.Problem I'm having is, if I make textfield autosize, only textfield resizes and others stuff remain as it is. if I calculate width required using xxxLineMetrics function and apply it to Button, background resizes properly but textfield also stretches with them and looks ugly.I want backgrounds(sibling of textfield) resize properly with textfield so button looks nice with resized background and normal autosized textfield.

Is there any way we can make the JW Player auto resizable when it loads?
Like, for instance, if the movie file is smaller in dimensions than the player,then there is black background it. I want the movie to spread all over the black color.

I know a fair bit about flash, and can make a basic flash website, with just using on(release) gotoAndStop(2) etc and have have all my buttons link to other pages

I have been seeking for months to try to put my flash animations in myspace blog but I haven't succeeded in doing that. I have tried to put the code source of the html document but it doesn't work . When I saw the animations pre-maded in websites for myspace , it's exactly the same code as I have saw in the code source of my html page. Why it doesn't work? I have tried to convert to anothers format, to put them in youtube , but it wasn't very good.
I have tried a files hosting where I put swf files format and I put the links , but myspace doesn't accept this kind of links , they say that it brings spams. I have just think about it and I haven't done it yet. If I convert swf files into flv files and I put the correct video code , Will it works? I read that myspace doesn't accept the flash animations but it's not true because there are a lot of flash animations to put in that.

I've noticed that a number of Flash sites have urls such as [URL] which gives the ability to return to a specific area (in this case "services") of the site rather than staying on the homepage each time you go back to the page. As you navigate through the site the url changes to reflect where you are in the swf.

I am very new to flash ads and we are on a new platform after a website redesign. I'm having trouble with flash display settings I'm guessing since the ad displays fine in IE, but not fine in Firefox and Chrome. Images to follow (for the curious it is a YWCA ad):

This is IE. What? IE is right and the other browsers aren't? What gives!?
