In IE and Chrome, if your swf object requests a url (mp3 file for example) it will also pass the HTTP_REFERER in the request. The HTTP_REFERER will be the url of the swf object. This does not happen in Firefox. The HTTP_REQUEST is always empty. Is this some option in the swf code, bug in flash or limitation of the browser?

According to the Flash docs: [URL] there is only very limited support for HTTP headers in Flash Player, and Referer is prohibited. Is there anything I can do here other than have my proxy check that $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER'] is empty? (and that seems like a fairly large hole in security right there)
I have a banner in actionscript 2, that posts to a URL, and gets a response back. The http header from that is then used to figure out if the posting was successful. This works like a charm i IE, but in Firefox and Safari, the Flash player shomehow interprets the HTTP header as a 0, no matter what the browser actually gets. My guess is that it's what's described here [URL]...

I am using ActionScript 2.0 for my app development. I have checked XML and LoadVars class. These classes by default send/receive data either in XML or name/value pair format. I want to send data in JSON format and receive the response in JSON format. How can I achieve this behavior using AS2.0. I have noticed that AS3.0 has the capabilities to do so. My client platform doesn't support AS3.0.
View 3 RepliesI've used the Flex HTTPService to connect to a backend blazeDS service without any problems at all. The question I have is, can I also use HTTPService to send a HTTP POST message to a server (with basic authentication)?
Specifically I'd like to be able to interface Flex with Notifo [URL] and to interface with it you just need to send a http POST with authentication and some key:value strings for the message content. (I've done it from java and from the command line with curl and it all seemed pretty easy to set but I'm just not sure how to go about trying this with Flex).
How would this be done via the HTTPService (if at all) ?
Can anyone see how the mxml/as class would look like and what would be in the services-config file and what adapters need to be used etc etc ??
I need to send an array of objects from Flex to a Ruby Web service, but sending them as parameters is not getting through since they seen to come through as Objects instead of readable data.
Sending it as raw XML or JSON didn't work either so the last resort might be to send everything in a HTTP query. However, I'm not sure how to do this since the array contains objects, all of which have 4 or 5 properties, and I don't know what the right format would be.
I'm new to Flex and couldn't figure out yet how to send binary data to the server as the body of a POST request. The HTTPService component doesn't seem to support this. The FileReference doesn't seem to support setting the data via the Flex API.
View 4 RepliesI upload a file using adobe air HTTPService.Send method by passing byte array of file content read using FileReference. When I write the set of bytes from the server side (php) it writes the details of the byte array (buff) to the file instead of contents of the file like "endian=bigEndian&position=0&bytesAvailable=61127&length=61127&objectEncoding=3" . Below I have included the code that how I read the file and send it to server. Is there anyway that i can directly pass the data in the byte array to send method?

Im building a reservation form, using actionscript and php. I use sendAndLoad to send variables to php via POST, which returns a different HTTP POST response in case of sucess or not.
Is there anyway to "read" HTTP POST responses with actionscript?
works perfect on my macbook pro (safari, firefox, and opera) but when I view the site on Vmare Fusion Windows XP and use IE and FireFox the pages don't load... I don't know what to make of this. Has anyone hear or seen anything like this happen before? BTW the website was created in Adobe Flash CS4/ AS 3.0 and published using Flash Player 10.

I have been doing freelance work for a client over the last year, who has asked me NOT to post any of that work on my portfolio, since his clients will see my portfolio's address in their referrer logs (with google analytics.) However, a third party app that needs to be integrated checks for valid links by looking at the HTTP referer header, and it seems like that header is blank when using a navigateToURL call.

I've been using the Flex "HTML" component in my AIR 2.7 project. It's a wrapper for the HtmlLoader class. The problem is that empty referers in HTML headers are automatically set to "app://[appname].swf". This is not standard as default referer behavior should be to not set any referer at all. The consequence is I'm getting denied access on certain websites using iframes (as location changes from an iframe set an empty referer). I have no control over those requests has no event is fired when changed the source of an iframe.
I have thought about the possibility of intercepting all network calls and setting the referer to empty when necessary before sending the message. My app is only a container in wich a module is loaded for easier updates so maybe I could set up a proxy on top or something like that. Is there any way to intercept network messages in Flex??

The loadSound() method seems to work fine for this, but I need to be able to skip the MP3 to unbuffered regions of the audio timeline and to start it streaming/downloading from there.
Anyone know how I can accomplish this? I've used the excellent mod_h264_streaming plugin for Apache for f4v "pseudostreaming" so I'm trying to accomplish the same thing on my audio files.

We are facing one issue directly connected with our Flash API we've given to a 3rd party flash vendor. To make a long story short, our API basically wraps domain logic on client and creates a single POST request towards the server in JSON format. All will be ok except in combination MacOS + Safari we receive double requests on server (?).
Even more interesting, we are receiving different agent names - one is expected name/decriptor of the browser and system, other is "CFNetwork".

Are there any audio encoding libraries for Flash? I need to record sound from a Flash applet, and then upload it to a server with HTTP. The problem is that the raw audio file is really big. Is there any way to encode it into MP3/OGG/etc from Flash and then upload it to the server?
