There seems to be a problem with Firefox 2.x sending variables to PHP scripts with the LoadVars.send/POST method.

I was just wondering if it is important to include POST as a method of sending loadVars to the php file. i was using POST before and i still ecountered some problems of receiving empty mails. Since i found an example which do not use POST or REQUEST method i dont have anymore prob. I just wanted to get another opinion about that as i wanna start using server side script with flash and i know that ill be using the POST method.

For the life of me, I've tried everything: I've researched LoadVars on Adobe forum, used David Powers' books, googled 'flash to php', LoadVars, etc. and tried sendAndLoad, send, and using $_POST, $_GET, $_REQUEST. $HTTP_POSTVARS but I keep getting this same error.

I really need to send a variable via POST method to an URL and the navigate to it. navigateToURL sends variables using GET method, although I specified POST. URLLoader sends variables using POST method, but does not navigate to the URL.

I have an application that reads a PHP script and populates the Flash applets using the following on frame 1:

A combobox (created with the returned data) is created on frame 61. When a selection is chosen in the combobox I need to add the value returned from the combobox to the variable catvar, add this variable to the LoadVars object and run the script again. It seems to set c.catvar initially but when I use the 'sendAndLoad command the second time c.catvar isn't included. Is it possible to add variables to a LoadVars object created
on frame 1 from frame 61?
I am using the following code to try and post variables to a URL, but the SEND command is still posting the variables via GET.

I am working on the contact form for a website that is done entirely in flash. The following is the code I have for sending the variables to the emailForm.php script that I created. The only problem I'm having is that everytime you send the contact information, a new web browser window opens up (it opens the php file in the web browser). I'm testing this on my local server and it works great, except for the fact that everytime I send it, I dont want a new browser window opening up.

Im having a bit of trouble integrating dynamic variables pulled from a databse using an ASP script with a flash movie.
Background:
I need to send variables stored in a ms sql db to a flash movie to display several values.
The dyanmic element comes in because i am using an ID to select the values from the db e.g id1 = joe bloggs id2 = paul smith
etc
When i am hardcoding the id in the asp script the variables are sent to the flash movie no probs and they display correctly.
I am also printing the asp code on the page and that all displaying fine.
HOWEVER, the issue arises when i make the asp code dynamic and by that i mean I am using request.querystring to pull the id
from the URL - The print out of the asp code is still displaying the correct variables, BUT they are not being passed to the
flash movie at all - the placeholder is blank there isn't event an error!!.
Couple of things to note -
- if you change the id bit of the url in the dynamic script to the printed asp code changes
- THE FLASH MOVIE IS IDENTIAL in both scenarios
- all variable names have remained the same
- it is NOT a location of file issue as we have tested the dynamic code files In another folder and no joy
- we are not using any other file includes or asp code in any of the page - all other code has been stripped out
THE ISSUE WE HAVE IS THAT THE PRINTED VARIABLES ARE NOT BEING PASSED TO THE FLASH MOBIE in scenario 2 where the asp code is looking for the participant id dynamically (i.e from the URL)

Let's say I'd like to post some data to a server side script. If my data is

However, this results in the POST looking like this:

if I want to send it without the variable name (no "data=", just the actual data), how is this possible? In AS3 I can just use the .data property of a URLRequest and it will work, however I can't find a way to do this in AS2.

The variables are sent, but POST is converted to GET and flash open this [URL].
I am trying to send variables from my Flash App to an ASPX page which receives the variables and outputs them on the screen. But he aspx script is not able to receive the variables. I am putting the variable into an object and sending that object using POST method through the URLVaiable class.

Here's the code I'm using...

The problem is that it always sends as GET, and the data in vars.html is too long for my server to receive.
To make matters worse, it seems like AIR can only send GET via navigateToURL.
The issue with this is, I need to open a new browser window and send the POST data so that a script on my server can create a PDF file for the user.

I have a problem with sending email from a flash contact form using ASP. I'm trying to send data to ASP with the POST method, and then send an e-mail using ASP code, but it doesn't work. In fact, when pressing the submit button in a Flash contact form, in IExplorer nothing happens, and in Mozilla I get a message Waiting for[code]...
View 1 RepliesThis code is being run from a frameset in IE8. When the new window is opened, the form data is not being recognized. It appears that the http header, "content-type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded", is not being passed into IE and this is causing the post data not to be processed. The data is there, IE is just doing nothing with it.
This code works fine in FF and Chrome, and in fact the correct headers are passed in FF and Chrome.
NOTE: The new page is on a different site, but i don't know why that would cause a problem with a POST and not a GET.

I have tried adding the header to the send request, but that has no effect at all. The contenttype header is still missing and it still works everywhere but IE.
My current work around is to use a GET instead of a post, but that's ugly and it limits us in the size of data we can pass but for now at least it works.
I was wondering if anyone had found out that there is a limit to how much information can be sent with LoadVars. I guess that limit could be the number of properties of the loadVars object, or size of the properties being sent.
View 2 RepliesI've got a small problem with loadvars. I want to send data from Flash to PHP, which usually works well. But right now I need to send "larger" amounts of data around 10-20kb and loadvars doesn't work anymore.
Using loadvars to open browser-windows seems to work fine, but I want everything to happen inside of flash.

At the moment, I am posting information from my flash to a PHP page within the same server. This causes no problems, as I am posting to a PHP file within the same directory.

I am having problems with loadVars over https. What I am trying to do is sending credit card information from a flash store to a PHP-script on a server over https, and the PHP-script should return a reply. (So I am using the LoadVars sendAndLoad command). The problem is that the reply I get from the script is empty. If I try the same over http, it works fine.
View 4 RepliesI'm building an AIR application. Basically, what I'm looking to do is using navigateToUrl() to open a browser window, assign it a "name" and then, send variables to that newly opened window using the POST method.
EDIT : I need the window to be visible, this is why I absolutely need to use the navigateToUrl() function
