Flex :: ComboBox In DataGrid Loses Values When Scroll Horizontally

I have a very strange problem in a Flex 3.4 Datagrid. One of the columns is a ComboBox - I have my own custom renderer for the ComboBox. I use it to select my data and then make a "save" to the db. Upon return the comboBox loses its value. Even stranger is that when I scroll the datagrid area to the left (by moving scrollbar right) - the values in the ComboBox change!! When I scroll the datagrid right (by moving the scrollbar left) - the values in the ComboBox don't change.

Can i have a datagrid that displays data vertically instead of horizontally?for example, if this is my dataprovider:

array('firstname':'John','lastname':'Doe'),
array('firstname':'Jack','lastname':'Jill')

I want the data to be displayed like this :

Fields Value1 Value2
Firstname John Jack
Lastname Doe Jill

and so on .... whats the best way to achieve this .. If i have to extend the datagrid component.

I am trying to find an easy and robust way to override the default layout of DataGrid and populate its values in a left-right fashion. To illustrate:My data model is an array of: {a: xxx1..n, b: yyy1..n, c: zzz1..n}The default DataGrid component will lay this out as:

a b c
xxx1 yyy1 zzz1
xxx2 yyy2 zzz2
xxxn yyyn zzzn
etc.

With "a", "b", and "c" as the headers, and x, y, z being their values for each object in the dataProvider.Now I want to lay this out horizontally like so:

a xxx1 xxx2 xxxn
b yyy1 yyy2 yyyn
c zzz1 zzz2 zzzn

I've searched around for an answer but haven't hit on anything. Perhaps I'm just using the wrong keyword searches...Regardless, if anyone knows a solution to this, be it as mundane as a property setting I've somehow missed, or a 3rd party component, etc.

ps: Eventually, this must be entirely tab-enabled and cell-editable. If you have an esoteric solution involving a multi-field itemRenderer, please keep this in mind. I mention this because I have attempted such a solution and have failed to penetrate DataGrid's Unfailing Field of Tab Vitiation (ie DataGrid seems to override tab functionality inside its itemRenderer, forcibly setting focus to the next renderer/editor).

I just made a scroll area with buttons and draggable items. All the code is written for vertical scrolling, the content I need to be scrolled is going to be horizontal. how can I rewrite this code to be horizontal scrolling? it seems like the scroll button (the one you drag along) doesn't stay confined to its scroll line either.

I have a data grid that has ComboBoxes in two of its columns.

What I need to do is get the values of those bombo boxes when a user highlights the row of the grid NOT when the user uses the comboBox. I understand how to pull the values out once the change handler is invoked on the comboBox, but I'm not seeing a way to get at the comboBoxes that belong to the currently highlighted gridRow.

I'm sure it's really straight forward, but I'm just not able to find any reference on how it's done.

I have a DataGrid with a ComboBox as an ItemRenderer for one of my columns. When the user selects a row, I want to get the ComboBox's selected value for the selected row.

EDIT: I should have mentioned that the dataField2_Array property in myData is actually an Array is the dataProvider for the ComboBox. Each object in myData could have completely different values in that Array so the ComboBox in each row of the DataGrid could have completely different options to pick from.Some sample code:

How can I filter a datagrid based on the value in the combo box? Can anyone show me some good examples on it?

In my application, I already filter a datagrid based on the text entered by the user. I check if the entered string matches the column entry of the datagrid and if a match is found,the filterFunction on the dataprovider is called.

This is that code:

I am trying to create an orderform - only 5 products in it the outcome works nice but I want to check if an email address is correct and than I loose the values.The form is made in 5 frames.The first should say how to pay the second to fill in the order the third to fill in the adresss and email details than a process to check the email in PHP and when correct it should say - order send correct and when incorrect it should go back to frame 3 the outcome is in frame 2 were its hidden underneath -� to 4 in the timeline but when I hit the sendbutton and it does the check the values are not there any more.[code]

I use this arrayCollection to populate a Flex 3 Datagrid. I'd also like to use this arrayCollection to populate a comboBox with the Name node.

In the arrayCollection, I've got the Name listed twice. I've got two rows in the Datagrid.

If I set the ComboBox's labelfield to Name, then the Name will be listed twice in the ComboBox menu. Is there a way to use this arrayCollection and have each Name listed only once in the comboBox?

I can always make another loop and array collection for the Name, but I was wondering if there were a better way.

I have a datagrid.In this datagrid I have a combobox item editor. This datagrid also has multiple columns where a user inputs numbers in each column. These numbers are then calculated by formula where the sum is posted in the "total" column. In this combobox there are two options for the user to choose from and each option has a different formula for calculating the inputted numbers. What I want is for when a user chooses "option 1" one formula is used to do the calculation, when "option 2" is chosen by the user then formula two is used to the calculation.Here's an example:

Combobox Option 1 (formula 1) is chosen by user = (Column2 - Column1) x column3 = "total" column
Combobox Option 2 (formula 2) is chosen by user = (Column1 - Column2) x column3 ="total" column

I realize you would use a conditional such as "if else" statement, but im just not sure how to do it. I've been trying to implement this for a while with no success.

I have a data grid with an Combobox itemRenderer in it. What I have is a grid with a person id and person name (more stuff in grid but I am struggling with this). In the person name column I have an combobox with all the people on then system's names and id's. What I want to do is when I select a person in the combobox I want the combobox to populate the person name fields (which it does) but I also want to pull out the person id from the combobox and populate the person id column in the data grid as well.

i have a problem using the itemRenderer functionality. When using an ArrayCollection the visible Data in the DataGrid using the itemRenderer will be rendered just fine. But if i start scrolling the entries are repeating in the cells using the renderer. The cells are not filled with date according to the id. What mistake i'm doing here.

I have an editable grid and would like to update values based on the edited cell and I am doing this in the itemEditEndHandler such that when they finish editing a cell I update other cells that are dependent on it. the only problem is in the itemEditEndHandler the new value has not registered yet. Is there any way to scroll Datagrid on timer basis.Let say there are plenty of records which can not be shown in one screen. And the screen is showing the first 10 records. An auto scroll should start after 5 seconds and bring up the next 10 records. Then again after 5 seconds the other 10 records and so on. A kind slide show effect.

Is there a way to make the datagrid scroll if it's width exceeds it's parent container (instead of making the parent container scroll?) I have a datagrid with a fixed column, and of course I want the scrollbar to appear for the datagrid and not the enclosing HBox. I already set minWidth of the HBox to 0, tried autoLayout=false, but with no effects. The datagrid is dynamically created in AS3, so the enclosing container.

Maybe I did not express my needs clearly - the content of the datagrid should not be wider than the datagrid itself. I just want to surrounding Canvas of the Datagrid to not have any scrollbars and let the datagrid itself scroll. But just setting the scrollpolicy to off on the Canvas will not yield to scrollbars on the datagrid, it will rather clip the data.
