why this does not work it does not trace else when i click, but if before i compile i swap "var menu_open:Boolean = true;" to "var menu_open:Boolean = false;" it does trace else!
I am a student trying to learn how to take multimedia elements from one class and put them on a webpage using Dreamweaver CS4. From an online tutorial, I created start/stop buttons with ActionScript3 URLRequest to reference a sound file. The swf works fine when played; it plays from the html generated by flash but when I use Dreamweaver CS4 > insert > media > swf and then preview page in browser (firefox), the button doesn't do anything. When I compare the html page generated by flash to the html created by Dreamweaver, they look completely different. I don't have a clue what to do next.

How do I make a button created in CS4 flash open another page in my website?
I created the button in flash cs4 with a static state and a pulsing state on "Over" and "down" that works fine. I tried adding the following action to the button>

I have a mc (houses_mc on frame1) (a long image the user can pan to the left or right) and I want to place some buttons in this movieclip to go to another page when CLICK. I put the second page on the second frame in the timeline, and so on. ( Is this alright or should I open it in a scene or as a new fla file?) So far I can't get my button work. It seems that As3 doesn't like btns placed in mc or something like that. The roll over and hover and hit works all fine, but when I click it doesn't go anywhere. I'm creating an Entry Page slideshow here with Flash Cs3 and AS2: [URL] I'd like to be able to click on the whole slideshow (or the "Enter Site" text) to go to another page on the site, which I'm calling "[URL]." I've read various tutorials all day and tried many things, but couldn't seem to apply any "on release" action to the "Enter Site" text that would work. I even created an invisible button (putting a keyframe on just the HIT state and deleting it from the UP state), named the instance "invbutton3", and then typed in this action on the first frame and inserted a keyframe at the end of the show:

I have implemented SWFAddress 2.4, it works perfectly in Chrome and Firefox on Mac. But in Safari 5.0.3 on Mac, the back button doesn't trigger the AddressChangeEvent. Deep linking works on Safari, just the back button doesn't.

Mostly gotoAndStop commands to jump around the timeline to the different sections of the site. My question is how to set up the site as individual swfs for each "page" so the back and forward buttons on an internet browser will function. I've seen samples of loading external swfs but it's not clear how to write scripts to jump around various pages for a website.

After that when I went to test the swf I get no button cursors on any buttons in the swf. The buttons work when I press on them but there is no cursor. If I publish the file locally the cursors are there, I made a few different fla's with test buttons to make sure and they all do the same thing. The publishing settings are set for 10.2 , this seems to have happened once I got the new Flash player 11.3.

The user experience on the shared content below is just completely unclear (even when I tested some clarified language: e.g. "click here"). Users simply don't know what to do: they often either click "Like," or they comment with something along the lines of "I support you."
According to the documentation, it is possible to share Flash content in these posts. I'm hoping I can create a "Support" button as an SWF button.
Is it possible to dynamically create such an SWF with a custom *href? Will my use case work on Facebook?
I've got Wordpress 2.5 installed on my website. It works well, but I can't get the photo uploader to work. When I'm writing a post, I click on the "Add media" button. In the "Choose File" tab, I see the "Choose files to upload" button. When I click on it, nothing happens. I searched the net and found nothing helpful. One page vaguely mentioned having the latest Flash player. I verified and confirmed that I have the latest player.

I have made them into Movie Clips and put actionscript onto the MC instance which looks like this: [code]The button does not work. I have converted the symbol to a button and kept the Actionscript on the instance and they do not work. I have in fact copied exactly what I have done on a previous site that worked and it is not working here.The AS is not on the timeline, nor on the button or movieclip but on the instance of it. i am working in cs3 flash, but saving my files to flash 8. i am having an issue with getting an invisible button to work. i never had this problem in flash 8. could you please look at the very simple file attached below and let me know WHY i am getting error messages saying: "warning: this movie uses features not supported in flash 5 player" ?? and "scene=scene 1, layer= invisibleBton, frame=405:Flash mx button instance name"

I have a mc without a instance name, sitting inside _root.first_mc.2nd_mc and its timeline I have a frame label at frame ten called "on" and at frame twenty called "off". in the first frame of its actions I found a peice of code that is meant to replace the old onRollover etc.

I am housing the external SWF's inside a manually created container (AS2). This last button is being a rebel and it's driving me nuts. I've checked and double-checked to ensure the instance name matches the button name in the code....as well as the name of the external swf. It's all correct, to me.
