I do not know action script, and, have created a button in flash that pops up information when you rollover the button.The button works fine, but, the entire area - where the information pops - is also poping up when I rollover that area.

I'm searched and searched and tested this, but I can't seem to get a simple scroll pane to work correctly. I have a bare-bones file, with dummy text here:[URL]..
Can someone download this and put the dummy text inside a scrollpane for me (using the ruler guidelines as a guide)? I'll even send you $10 via PayPal if you can get the text to look right inside the scrollpane...

I can't seem to get the javascript open window functon to work with a simple button. I'm using flash 8. I'm creating a simple CD with exe which loads a swf movieclip. With in this movie clip is a button to open a popup window. Every javascript I have tried to use isn't working. The exe, swf and html page all reside in the same directory. There the latest:

I have Flash CS5.5 I just uploaded an swf with a few button instances I got the msg that I needed to update my Flash player so I did. After that when I went to test the swf I get no button cursors on any buttons in the swf. The buttons work when I press on them but there is no cursor. If I publish the file locally the cursors are there, I made a few different fla's with test buttons to make sure and they all do the same thing. The publishing settings are set for 10.2 , this seems to have happened once I got the new Flash player 11.3.

I'm not sure how to load it from a flash file and I know there is work that has to be done outside of flash like in the root folder. All I need is for a simple image gallery, nothing fancy, to open when I hit a button. how to use shadowbox in lamens terms or knows how to easily script a gallery that would be amazing.

I've benn trying to get a simple socket server test to work for days now and it seems I'm not getting very far.Basically I just want to send some data from flash to the php script and have it echo it out, or anything at all like that I've been working from this tutorial http[url]....I have this basic flash class which just sends a string to the server:

The server side php is the attached script (pretty much this http:[url]....So I keep the php running on my server then run the as class, what happens is after a while (presumably the 15 second script limit in as) I get this error:

Im trying some AS3 for the first time. I have a mc without a instance name, sitting inside _root.first_mc.2nd_mc and its timeline I have a frame label at frame ten called "on" and at frame twenty called "off". in the first frame of its actions I found a peice of code that is meant to replace the old onRollover etc.

I am loading 4 external SWF's inside a Master Movie file. I've got 3 of the 4 working. The last one is giving be fits and I can't see the problem. I am housing the external SWF's inside a manually created container (AS2). This last button is being a rebel and it's driving me nuts. I've checked and double-checked to ensure the instance name matches the button name in the code....as well as the name of the external swf. It's all correct, to me. The .swf is in the same folder as the .fla, by the way.AS2 code:

For some reason I can't get my buttons to link to a URL. The file was created in Flash CS3 and I'm working in CS4. I'm still a newbee. Seems by the time I finally figure Flash out, it's time to learn it all over again. Getting familiar with AS, but still have along way to go. Anyway when I apply either these scripts to a button the url launches without ceremony or not at all when I preivew it. Probably something brain dead, I'm sure.

I have a movie that I have been working on.There is a simple animation/intro and then a main frame with several buttons set up to jump ahead to other frames.There are 4 buttons and they all work just fine and go to the respective frame with no problems.
My problem is in trying to add a button to one of those frames. I can't get any button to work on any of those frames at all. I tried to add a "home" button that jumps back to the main frame, but that wouldn't work. So, I tried to copy the main frame and move it ahead on the time line but that didn't work either. I tried to add buttons for the other frames as well and no button would work (regardless of where it was referenced) on those other frames.Here is the error message I keep getting:

Flash CS5 on Windows 7 I have a problem with a project I am creating. I have created 3 buttons which when clicked open other movieclips for each button. On each of the movieclips that the buttons send them to, all have a back button to return them back to the original view.
This back button works fine apart from once they are back at the original view, the 3 buttons stop working.
On the about page of my Flash website, I wanted 7 buttons to navigate to various labels. I just finished the first button. I made it while I was inside the about_mc. It worked well but would NOT navigate. I took the button OUT of the Movie clip and made a separate layer on the about page for buttons and pasted it there and it worked perfect. When I made it inside the mc, is there some different code I should have used other than the standard code for making a button navigate to a frame. I built an addeventlistener and a function. BUT they only worked when the button was "ON TOP" of the mc NOT when it was INSIDE the mc. I have a transition tween on the about_mc and therefore the button does not tween when it is on TOP of the mc only when it is inside the mc.

So I am trying to get better at putting all my code within one action layer and there is a bit of button code that seems to be confusing me.
Whenever I program a button I use the following code:

Now I know programming the on(press) command is done like this:

However I am having a hard time with the on (release, releaseOutside ) code. The only way I have been able to do it is like this:

My question is, is there any way to combine the two onRelease commands?
I'd like to make a simple button that pops out (nicely animated) on mouseover to about 300% it's original size. You can se the button I want to animate here - it's those little buttons some of which are shaded. I want to make them more visible...

I need to make a simple Flash-based sound player for a website for a newly-released novel (http://www.bearriverbooks.com/index.html). I want the user to click on what appears to be an icon (or image), which kicks open a simple controller and starts playing a sound file (a radio interview, which I will probably export using Flash's voice compression). Nothing fancy. Just want the visitor to hear the sound and be able to apply simple controls (stop/start/rewind/volume).
I can learn ActionScript, I suppose, since I used to dream in Lingo, but my life would be a lot simpler if I could just publish a controller without having to roll my own. I'd like to think there's a magic button somewhere that can do this, but I haven't found it yet.
When I create a simple button in flash with AS3, I get a "flash" when I click on the button that echos the background color (so if I am going from one bkg color to another, you can see it). The flash is the rectangular shape behind the button.If I create the button with AS2 code, it doesn't happen![code]
View 2 RepliesI ve got a drag and drop code working, but what I really want to do is have a check answers button that tells the user, you have none correct, or two correct or all wrong... I have one target area, and 3 correct answers (out of 7) so I would like to let the user put as many ansers on the target as they want and then check if they have any correct, also a reset code would be nice to put everything back where it started... I tried to break my code up but the events then went mad, Here is what i have so far, it works instantly and lets crrect answers stay and incorrect bounce back..

I have a html page with some links to mp3 songs.I would like to set things up so that when user clicks a mp3 link, a small flash mp3 player (embedded in the page) starts playing with that songs. The user could click on another song that would replace the last one at any time and have basic controls.
- flash mp3 player - need 1 that has start / stop and volume buttons (simple)
BTW: I set this type of thing up in the past with a frameset - top had quicktime player embedded - and bottom song links went to top frame - all was fine but kind of bulky.... looking for something a bit slicker...Also would like to do the same for flash / quicktime videos, Also if there's something free or close to free that is a jukebox type where the song list is part of flash,
I am creating a very simple mask using motion tweening. I created some text on a layer and made it a masked layer. Then I created a mask layer which consists of a circle that will span across the text. When I play the movie the circle does not show up at all in the frames the mask layer spans (it's purple on a black background) and the circle does not move across the text like I told it to with the motion tweening. I don't know why it's not working. For some reason the circle isn't showing on the stage at all and it's not moving across the text. I don't know if I have it set up wrong on the timeline or what. Here's the steps I followed to create the mask:
1.insert a new layer in which I named it mask and click frame 1 on this layer
2. select the oval tools on the tools panel and set the stroke to none
3. set the fill color to purple
4. draw a circle and click the selection tool and drag a marquee around the circle to select it.
5. click insert on the menu bar, click motion tween then click ok in dialog box about converting it to a symbol to be tweened
6. click the last frame in the mask layer and drag the circle to the end of the line of text
7.click mask on the timeline to select the mask layer, click modify on the menu bar, point to timeline then click layer properties
8. verify the show check box is selected in the name section, click the lock check box to select it, click the mask option button in he type section, then click ok.
9. play the movie in which the circle object covers the text on the masked layer as it moves across the stage.
Very simple code that causes flash 10.2 to crash on all platforms.
