Professional :: Flash CS4 Crash When Scrolling In FLA Files
Jun 28, 2010Today one of our artists started experiencing a crash in Flash CS4 Professional when scrolling the workspace around in one of his .fla files. All he has to do is hold down the spacebar and scroll around with the mouse; or use the scrollbars to scroll around. It has crashed about 10 times in the last hour, and we copied the file over to another machine and saw the crash there as well. We've only seen it occur with one particular file.
The machines are both Intel Core i7 machines with 8GB of RAM and two different video cards, one running Windows 7 and the other running Vista; and the crashes cause the Adobe "let me report this crash to the mothership" dialog box, so I don't think it's video card driver related; I think it's just a bug in Flash Professional. We're running version 10.0.2 with no updates available to Flash Professional when choosing "Updates..." from menu.

DW opens and using one of its templates, no problems so far.Read about <supposedly> certain .Wacom tablet drivers and flash...don't have any such device installed, but stopped the generic windows tablet service....no change in the problem.
Professional :: Use Of Any Draw Tool Causes Flash CS5 To Crash
Jun 27, 2011I recently installed the CS5 Master Collection on my MacPro for work. I need to use Flash CS5 in order to work on some projects in the office, however I'm encountering several issues that make it near impossible for me to use the software. First of all, when I start the program and select "New..." and select any type of new file, I'm greeted by nearly every button being greyed out, to where I cannot select them. I've found out that I can make these buttons usable by changing my workspace in Flash.
The issue that's causing me trouble is that whenever I select any sort of "Drawing" tool, Flash CS5 crashes immediately. Whenever I click on the line, pen, circle, rectangle, pencil, or brush tools, CS5 freezes briefly (about 2-3 seconds) and then immediately closes. I can still use tools such as the Pan tool, zoom, text, and selection tool. Also, whenever I select the Spray Can tool, I get the following error:
Unable to load the script. The file <filepath>/ProScripts/sprayBrush.jsx does not exist.
I have already tried updating my system, updating every Adobe product on this machine, reinstalling, and even using a seperate installation CD, but everything thus far has yielded the same results.
Info on my system:
MacPro running OS X V. 10.6
2 x 2.26 GHx quad-core proocessors
12 GB DDR3

Professional :: Flash CS5 Crash And Corruption During Previewing Attempt Mac OSX 10.6.3
May 9, 2010I had been using Flash CS5 as a trial for the past 6 days without issues. Yesterday, I made a change to a file, and went to preview it, as I had several times before. This time, when I slected preview movie, Flash crashed umexpectedly. When I launched it again, it came up looking very corrupted - window as messed up, and any an all attempts to load any of the workspaces resulted in Flash crashes. I had to completely uninstall it including all prefs to get it to work again. I am hesitant to try a preview movie again.

Jul 12, 2011I have a really really annoying problem with Flash CS5 (11.0.2.489) on winXP.Everytime I place a bitmap (jpg, png..) on stage, Flash crashes.It occurs with existing fla, as well as with new documents, but only as3!(with as2 new documents, it seems ok!)I tried deleting preferences (reg key and AppData folder), nothing changes. Rebooting does nothing.

Professional :: Flash CS 5.5 Crash Deleted 4 Folders And 180 AS Files?
Mar 5, 2012I was working on a large website in Flash CS 5.5 on my hard drive Mac Pro V10.6.8, 6GB of memory. 176.78 GB of space left on the drive. I had set up the project in the Flash projects panel. I was opening files with"File open" and working on them. I have my fla files in a src folder and my classes in a com folder. This was the setup of my com folder. I was working in Flash and it crashed, when it started up again. It didn't offer me a temp file and all the files in the com folder have been deleted except for the greensock folder. But even the greensock folder was missing files. I went to the recent files when I click a file name I got this error.
I have searched my hard drive by name for the files and can't find them. They are not in the Trash. I have talked to three different Adobe tech support people in India they all tell me the files can't be recovered and they don't know why it has happened and don't even seem to care that their program has deleted hours of work. I am waiting on yet another tech support person to call me back. Does anyone know why this has happened? I have been working in Flash for 11 years and never had it delete 186 files when it has crashed.

With one fla opened, i select "ESSENTIAL" in workspace, the interface, turn on, but when i select a draw tool orchange any preference on Flash CS5 Trial on Snow Leopard, the flash allways crash and close without message. Nov 20, 2010I'm using a new Mac Pro with Snow Leopard. We have Adobe MC CS5.I'm experiencing serious problems with Flash CS5. The program locks up at "Initializing Tools" for several minutes at start up. Once the program opens it will crash if I try to create a blank document. Other Adobe programs work fine.Flash CS4 worked fine on this computer.Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? I've tried uninstalling and deleting all adobe documents from the configuration folders. It just seems like this machine is cursed or something.

Feb 15, 2011I have one that's almost done and the stage size is 700x800 px. But I'm starting to worry if that's going to look too small? To change it, will be a lot of work - there's animation, imported Jpegs etc. As far as I can tell, in order for it to look correct in larger dimensions I will need to basically create it again from the ground up. So, I'd really like to get an idea of what the optimal pixel dimensions would be for ecards to run on multiple platforms.
I really want to do this and I don't feel like I can move ahead until I get the viewing size correct. I don't even mind redoing the card. I just want my future cards to be the correct size. I don't want to have to come back and redo them all. By the way, the cards are being made in Flash. The site itself will be created in DreamWeaver.

Feb 1, 2010Has any one experienced a crash when using "test movie" in Flash CS4 on Windows 7?For me, it started when I began working on an Actionscript 2.0 project. It happens every time I test a movie, then minimize the window.I have tried re-installing Flash, but the problem still remains. The weird thing is, it waits until I minimize the window. No other time.

Professional :: Flash Player 10.2.159.1 Standalone Application CRASH With High Graphical Processing
Apr 16, 2011Flash Player 10.2.153.1and Flash Player 10.2.159.1 are crashing my standalone application. Later with version 10.1 the application run ok, never crashes but was taking more than 90% CPU. The new Flash Player solve the problem of resources, and drop down CPU to 30%, but the application crashes always after a while, unespectly, or if I open the window of other application.
In the other hand when I disable the harware acceleration at the swf settings, the application goes crazy and start to make rapid flashes, and frame rate goes down to 8. [URL]. Right click on the Flash logo, Settings,then UNcheck the hardware acceleration in Display Settings.)
I'm on a Mac Mini Core 2 Duo with Mac OS X 10.6.7 (the last Snow Leopard these days). The graphical card is Nvidia GeForce 9400M.
I did test the application at a Mac Book Pro core i5, Mac OS X 10.6.7, graphica card Nvidia GeForce GT 330M and the application is more stable but finally crashes too.
Finally if I export my application with GPU Hardware acceleration at Publish Settings, my application crashes almost inmediatly after I open it in each of the computers.
My guess is that the new Flash Version is using my graphical proccesor in a corrupted way.

Feb 5, 2010I've run into a troubling issue where using the NetStream class is causing odd video playback behaviour, major disk query issues, and also leading to my browsers crashing (tested on FireFox 3.5.X, IE 8, and Safari 3/4 with Flash plugin 10,0,42,34). I tested the issue on a Macbook as well and noticed the same thing, so it wasn't something specific to my machine. I wrote a basic Flex application to test this. I make a NetConnection to my web server. When successful, I create a NetStream to playback the video (F4V encoding of Big Buck Bunny). Immediately in Windows Performance Monitor, I can see the Disk queue jump to 100%. The video eventually pauses for a lengthy period of time. Sometimes the browser also becomes unresponsive at this time, and in other cases it will crash. If the video does eventually resume (disk querying reduces a bit), I experience odd behaviour with the video. If I pause the video (NetStream.pause()), when I resume the video (NetStream.resume()), the video begins to fast-forward to make up for the amount of time lost while the video was paused. So if I paused the video for 10 seconds, Flash will fast-forward in 1-second intervals through 10 seconds worth of video. During this time, NetStream will constantly dispatch buffering end and buffering full events.
What's odd is that the problem doesn't seem to happen when I add an additional arument in the play command. NetStream.play(url) will cause the issue, but NetStream.play(url, 0) will not. However, this doesn't always work. My own player, which has a lot more interface controls and complex logic, still suffers from the problem, despite that I'm not doing anything with the NetStream object.

Aug 1, 2011Flash is not in my toolset, but I am an old Director jock and have spent some hours dipping my head into the Flash manual. I suppose that makes me a promising beginner-level poster. I'm working in CS5.
I need to make a simple Flash-based sound player for a website for a newly-released novel (http://www.bearriverbooks.com/index.html). I want the user to click on what appears to be an icon (or image), which kicks open a simple controller and starts playing a sound file (a radio interview, which I will probably export using Flash's voice compression). Nothing fancy. Just want the visitor to hear the sound and be able to apply simple controls (stop/start/rewind/volume).
I can learn ActionScript, I suppose, since I used to dream in Lingo, but my life would be a lot simpler if I could just publish a controller without having to roll my own. I'd like to think there's a magic button somewhere that can do this, but I haven't found it yet.

The user could click on another song that would replace the last one at any time and have basic controls.

BTW: I set this type of thing up in the past with a frameset - top had quicktime player embedded - and bottom song links went to top frame - all was fine but kind of bulky.... looking for something a bit slicker...Also would like to do the same for flash / quicktime videos, Also if there's something free or close to free that is a jukebox type where the song list is part of flash,
Professional :: Simple Mask Not Working In Flash CS4?
Jul 27, 2010I am creating a very simple mask using motion tweening. I created some text on a layer and made it a masked layer. Then I created a mask layer which consists of a circle that will span across the text. When I play the movie the circle does not show up at all in the frames the mask layer spans (it's purple on a black background) and the circle does not move across the text like I told it to with the motion tweening. I don't know why it's not working. For some reason the circle isn't showing on the stage at all and it's not moving across the text. I don't know if I have it set up wrong on the timeline or what. Here's the steps I followed to create the mask:
1.insert a new layer in which I named it mask and click frame 1 on this layer
2. select the oval tools on the tools panel and set the stroke to none
3. set the fill color to purple
4. draw a circle and click the selection tool and drag a marquee around the circle to select it.
5. click insert on the menu bar, click motion tween then click ok in dialog box about converting it to a symbol to be tweened
6. click the last frame in the mask layer and drag the circle to the end of the line of text
7.click mask on the timeline to select the mask layer, click modify on the menu bar, point to timeline then click layer properties
8. verify the show check box is selected in the name section, click the lock check box to select it, click the mask option button in he type section, then click ok.
9. play the movie in which the circle object covers the text on the masked layer as it moves across the stage.

Professional :: Make A Simple Flash Website Video Intro In Flash CS5 Pro?
Jul 31, 2010I am new to flash and trying to make a simple flash website video intro in Flash CS5 Pro.I have a flv viedo on the stage, under an image with a trasnparent center.I have the video on the bottom layer, the overlay image on the middle layer, and the top layer is my AS layer (AS3).
The video is currently autoplaying when i export.All i want is for it to open my website in the same window as the intro played when the video ends.I dont need a "skip intro button" or anything.I just want it to play the intro when you go to my site, and then bring up the index page of my site after it plays.
