I've logged this bug but wanted to post it to the boards in case anyone else is having this same problem. It's been going on since I purchased Flash CS3 pro and has been really crippling my development workflow because I can only get the debugger to work maybe 1 in 4 times.

Flash CS4 frequently crashes after trying to test my movie. I have a MacBook Pro OS 10.5.8. I have updated Flash CS4 as well. Here are the problem details in the crash report.

Has any one experienced a crash when using "test movie" in Flash CS4 on Windows 7?For me, it started when I began working on an Actionscript 2.0 project. It happens every time I test a movie, then minimize the window.I have tried re-installing Flash, but the problem still remains. The weird thing is, it waits until I minimize the window. No other time.
Test movie --> Close it --> Minimize Flash --> Wait a second or two --> Crash
I have a flex app using the 4.5.1 sdk and AIR 2.7 running on an Android 3.2 tablet. During use, I can get it to crash fairly regularly. It's usually when I'm rapidly scrolling around in a List control. I can't seem to find the cause.
The application will just suddenly close. It happens in both debug and release builds.
When in debug mode, it just disconnects from the debugger and doesn't give me any useful information.
I'm at a loss on how to debug this. What are some techniques I can use?
I found the "adb logcat" command. Relevant info from the log below, unfortunately it doesn't mean much to me.

View 1 RepliesToday one of our artists started experiencing a crash in Flash CS4 Professional when scrolling the workspace around in one of his .fla files. All he has to do is hold down the spacebar and scroll around with the mouse; or use the scrollbars to scroll around. It has crashed about 10 times in the last hour, and we copied the file over to another machine and saw the crash there as well. We've only seen it occur with one particular file.
The machines are both Intel Core i7 machines with 8GB of RAM and two different video cards, one running Windows 7 and the other running Vista; and the crashes cause the Adobe "let me report this crash to the mothership" dialog box, so I don't think it's video card driver related; I think it's just a bug in Flash Professional. We're running version 10.0.2 with no updates available to Flash Professional when choosing "Updates..." from menu.
opening included templates in Flash CS5 and then telling the program to test the movie within the environment shows Flash trying to export an SWF file and then crashes. the program will alllow the movie to be played inside the environment, however.

DW opens and using one of its templates, no problems so far.Read about <supposedly> certain .Wacom tablet drivers and flash...don't have any such device installed, but stopped the generic windows tablet service....no change in the problem.

I recently installed the CS5 Master Collection on my MacPro for work. I need to use Flash CS5 in order to work on some projects in the office, however I'm encountering several issues that make it near impossible for me to use the software. First of all, when I start the program and select "New..." and select any type of new file, I'm greeted by nearly every button being greyed out, to where I cannot select them. I've found out that I can make these buttons usable by changing my workspace in Flash.
The issue that's causing me trouble is that whenever I select any sort of "Drawing" tool, Flash CS5 crashes immediately. Whenever I click on the line, pen, circle, rectangle, pencil, or brush tools, CS5 freezes briefly (about 2-3 seconds) and then immediately closes. I can still use tools such as the Pan tool, zoom, text, and selection tool. Also, whenever I select the Spray Can tool, I get the following error:
Unable to load the script. The file <filepath>/ProScripts/sprayBrush.jsx does not exist.
I have already tried updating my system, updating every Adobe product on this machine, reinstalling, and even using a seperate installation CD, but everything thus far has yielded the same results.

I had been using Flash CS5 as a trial for the past 6 days without issues. Yesterday, I made a change to a file, and went to preview it, as I had several times before. This time, when I slected preview movie, Flash crashed umexpectedly. When I launched it again, it came up looking very corrupted - window as messed up, and any an all attempts to load any of the workspaces resulted in Flash crashes. I had to completely uninstall it including all prefs to get it to work again. I am hesitant to try a preview movie again.
View 5 RepliesI have a really really annoying problem with Flash CS5 (11.0.2.489) on winXP.Everytime I place a bitmap (jpg, png..) on stage, Flash crashes.It occurs with existing fla, as well as with new documents, but only as3!(with as2 new documents, it seems ok!)I tried deleting preferences (reg key and AppData folder), nothing changes. Rebooting does nothing.

I was working on a large website in Flash CS 5.5 on my hard drive Mac Pro V10.6.8, 6GB of memory. 176.78 GB of space left on the drive. I had set up the project in the Flash projects panel. I was opening files with"File open" and working on them. I have my fla files in a src folder and my classes in a com folder. This was the setup of my com folder. I was working in Flash and it crashed, when it started up again. It didn't offer me a temp file and all the files in the com folder have been deleted except for the greensock folder. But even the greensock folder was missing files. I went to the recent files when I click a file name I got this error.
I have searched my hard drive by name for the files and can't find them. They are not in the Trash. I have talked to three different Adobe tech support people in India they all tell me the files can't be recovered and they don't know why it has happened and don't even seem to care that their program has deleted hours of work. I am waiting on yet another tech support person to call me back. Does anyone know why this has happened? I have been working in Flash for 11 years and never had it delete 186 files when it has crashed.
I can't select anything in a tool windows. With one fla opened, i select "ESSENTIAL" in workspace, the interface, turn on, but when i select a draw tool orchange any preference on Flash CS5 Trial on Snow Leopard, the flash allways crash and close without message. View 1 RepliesI'm using a new Mac Pro with Snow Leopard. We have Adobe MC CS5.I'm experiencing serious problems with Flash CS5. The program locks up at "Initializing Tools" for several minutes at start up. Once the program opens it will crash if I try to create a blank document. Other Adobe programs work fine.Flash CS4 worked fine on this computer.Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? I've tried uninstalling and deleting all adobe documents from the configuration folders. It just seems like this machine is cursed or something.

View 2 RepliesI have both CS3 and CS4 web preium installed on my system. Ihave started working in CS4 and found that the debug window willnot work. I created a new Flash CS4 fla and added some breakpoints.It seems to run without stopping at the breakpoints and displayingmy trace statements. I have a ticket into support but no one hasanswered it yet. I remember this happening when I installed CS3 webpre but can't remember what I did to fix it. Is a uninstall of allthe products neccessary? Or should I just uninstall Flash.
View 9 RepliesWhen I debug it simply refuses to stop at the breakpoints, thus making my work flow miserable. I did some searching on Google and seems this has been there since version CS3. I never found a solution for this. I reinstalled on top of the current installation and nothing happened and then did a complete installation and still it's the same. Check the video.
Flash Player 10.2.153.1and Flash Player 10.2.159.1 are crashing my standalone application. Later with version 10.1 the application run ok, never crashes but was taking more than 90% CPU. The new Flash Player solve the problem of resources, and drop down CPU to 30%, but the application crashes always after a while, unespectly, or if I open the window of other application.
In the other hand when I disable the harware acceleration at the swf settings, the application goes crazy and start to make rapid flashes, and frame rate goes down to 8. [URL]. Right click on the Flash logo, Settings,then UNcheck the hardware acceleration in Display Settings.)
I'm on a Mac Mini Core 2 Duo with Mac OS X 10.6.7 (the last Snow Leopard these days). The graphical card is Nvidia GeForce 9400M.
I did test the application at a Mac Book Pro core i5, Mac OS X 10.6.7, graphica card Nvidia GeForce GT 330M and the application is more stable but finally crashes too.
Finally if I export my application with GPU Hardware acceleration at Publish Settings, my application crashes almost inmediatly after I open it in each of the computers.
My guess is that the new Flash Version is using my graphical proccesor in a corrupted way.

View 6 RepliesI have a swf that I need to attach the flex builder debugger to. I have full access to the source code, and can make a debug build of this swf.
However, this swf is being loaded by a non-debug build of another swf which I don't have source code to, and can't make a debug build with.
I've tried mocking this up with two very simple swfs, and while it works fine when both are debug builds, when the outer swf is a non-debug build, while I can get the debugger to connect, I don't get trace messages, breakpoints don't work, and it seems to lock up the flash app.
I have flash installed on my mac 10.6.7 and it's version is 11.1.102.55 (Non-debug).How do i convert it into debug.

View 2 RepliesI'm an application developer, and my standard usage of Flash is as follows: I'm creating an executable application, which contains a ShockwaveFlash object instance, which in turn is displaying a Flash Movie Clip - also created by myself. The executable application and the contained Flash clip are communicating via the ActionScript ExternalInterface (using XML strings) and the FSCommand.
I'd like to be able to debug the ActionScript code of the Flash file while I'm running/debugging my executable application. For that, I need to be able to start a remote debugging session from the Flash object running inside my executable. Problem is, I did not find any way of doing this.
When I publish the Flash SWF file with "permit debugging" checked, I'm able to start a remote debugging session when I'm displaying the file in a player or a browser (the "debugging" option is shown at the right-click menu of the Flash object), but I'm not able to do the same with the object inside my executable (the "debugging" option doesn't exist on the menu).
Environment Details: The executable application is using the ShockwaveFlash COM file to create the ShockwaveFlash object. The executable application is created using VB.NET, Visual Studio 2008, .NET 3.5. The Flash SWF file is created using Adobe Flash Professional CS4. I'm developing under Windows XP (SP3).
We are professional game developers working on our first game in the Flash format. As the game will be about 70 megabytes in size we would like to allow the player the option of saving the game to hard drive to avoid reloading in the future.
View 1 RepliesI've run into a troubling issue where using the NetStream class is causing odd video playback behaviour, major disk query issues, and also leading to my browsers crashing (tested on FireFox 3.5.X, IE 8, and Safari 3/4 with Flash plugin 10,0,42,34). I tested the issue on a Macbook as well and noticed the same thing, so it wasn't something specific to my machine. I wrote a basic Flex application to test this. I make a NetConnection to my web server. When successful, I create a NetStream to playback the video (F4V encoding of Big Buck Bunny). Immediately in Windows Performance Monitor, I can see the Disk queue jump to 100%. The video eventually pauses for a lengthy period of time. Sometimes the browser also becomes unresponsive at this time, and in other cases it will crash. If the video does eventually resume (disk querying reduces a bit), I experience odd behaviour with the video. If I pause the video (NetStream.pause()), when I resume the video (NetStream.resume()), the video begins to fast-forward to make up for the amount of time lost while the video was paused. So if I paused the video for 10 seconds, Flash will fast-forward in 1-second intervals through 10 seconds worth of video. During this time, NetStream will constantly dispatch buffering end and buffering full events.
What's odd is that the problem doesn't seem to happen when I add an additional arument in the play command. NetStream.play(url) will cause the issue, but NetStream.play(url, 0) will not. However, this doesn't always work. My own player, which has a lot more interface controls and complex logic, still suffers from the problem, despite that I'm not doing anything with the NetStream object.
While I'm just a beginner right now it/I'm an experienced computer user and I have really enjoyed/but when I'm looking at it now I'm trying to use flash to edit a website template, for example monster templates. I bought a template from the site and nine trying to edit it now and well it just seems like it's a very very long process to do something kind of where I just want to look at the page and I want to edit the text and only I go to bed doesn't seem to be the case. So I'll show you what I mean.
When I'm using the program and I'm in Adobe flash I'm looking now at the screen inside the program and there's no text I see the graphics images and there's no text and also is that some type of way where it's easy to navigate link to link where I can just edit the text what supposed to be in there rather than search for the funeral push page up and down until I come across just a white background with tax and then have to edited which is pretty confusing because I don't know where that's located but I the general idea that if you change it but surely there must be an easier way.
So basically I'm including a screenshot that shows you exactly what I'm talking about. Basically once again I'm in fashion items Sandy text so it's kinda hard to see what was going on or whatever so you can see the snow text located in the thing but however when I publish the file yeah you can see the text and everything I'm kinda looking for some type of you well be able to see this and just edited really. I know there are other programs out there like SWF edited her or quick note to some like that. But I really wanted to use flash, unexperienced Photoshop user and I really love all Adobe products and I really think that this is the master program to use however I'm really don't want it as of right now it's been about 40 days and nine still a bit lost navigating through the program will I'm just really just China entities tax bills and just go through the site. Now I realize I should have the respect for beautiful program like this and it's not been a be set up to the way that I'm hoping it Siskind be a point-and-click editor I understand that. I'm just wondering if anybody has any type suggestions or perhaps of I'm missing something which is fantastic.
When I first downloaded Flash CS3 Professional, I was able to enter an exceedingly useful debug mode by compiling using ctrl+shift+enter instead of ctrl+enter. I could toggle break points, step in, step over and view values stored in variables at a whim.
I must have accidentally toggled some option somewhere, because this interface no longer shows up. Instead, the only extra interface I get is the output menu with the following text "Attemping to launch and connect to Player using URL <file path> [SWF] <file path> - 71984 bytes after decompression" and while the swf does halt if the as3 code reaches a break point, it doesn't tell me which break point nor give me any options to progress the flow (not even through the pull down menu I have to utilize in order to end the so called debug session).
Brand new PC, Windows 7, worked fine for couple of days until I installed Flash Player 10 Active X - now the operating system continually crashes around after 5 mins each time I reboot.Error message"problem starting C:ProgramFiles(x86)NOSingetPlus_Helper.dllthe specified module could not be found"Having search the web, which suggested a possible problem with Flash Player 10 installation, I removed this downloaded this file: uninstall_flash_player.exe and ran to uninsall), but Adobe Download Manager is still in the list - trying to uninstall the DLM just gives the same error message as above.

But, all of a sudden it's not working for me anymore.I wasable to access it by right clicking my movie from within thebrowser and selecting "Debugger", but for some reason the optionisn't available anymore. I've rechecked my settings according tothe livedocs, and ensured the swd file is in the same dir as theswf, but no dice.
