Professional :: Flash CS5 Slow Start Up And Crash On Snow Leopard
Nov 20, 2010
I'm using a new Mac Pro with Snow Leopard. We have Adobe MC CS5.I'm experiencing serious problems with Flash CS5. The program locks up at "Initializing Tools" for several minutes at start up. Once the program opens it will crash if I try to create a blank document. Other Adobe programs work fine.Flash CS4 worked fine on this computer.Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? I've tried uninstalling and deleting all adobe documents from the configuration folders. It just seems like this machine is cursed or something.
I can't select anything in a tool windows. With one fla opened, i select "ESSENTIAL" in workspace, the interface, turn on, but when i select a draw tool orchange any preference on Flash CS5 Trial on Snow Leopard, the flash allways crash and close without message. The image show the tools "closed" and the erro in Apple System.
I have a couple of Flash projects that were originally built in CS3. Last year I upgraded them to CS5 without trouble. Recently I have upgraded my Macs to Snow Leopard, and when I open both of these FLA files in CS5 on Snow Leopard, some of the fonts are insanely distorted.
We have noticed a possible bug in the Flash Player within Mac's latest OS version Snow Leopard.
When a Browse for file dialog is initiated, upon returning to the browser. It's as if there is a layer above the flash app which stops interaction with the mouse. MouseOver events no longer take place and a click is require to remove this layer. If you move your mouse at all after the click this invisible layer returns limiting interaction.
We have tested this with 2 macs running snow leopard and the latest Flash Player. And also verified it is not an issue on Mac OSX previous to Snow Leopard.
It seems to effect only FF and Safari. Opera functions correctly.. Here is a video we created documenting the problem: [URL]
We have not had any customers complain about this yet. But if it's infact a bug, it's just a matter of time.
I am trying to execute the very simplistic animation of a bouncing ball-- I followed all the steps (three different ways from three different sources, but they were all fairly similar), and I cannot get my ball to bounce slowly. Instead, it just flips from up to down like a switch. I put easing -100 and 100 at the two different motion tween points, but still nothing... When I look at the onion skin view, I don't see the gradual movement- just the balls. What am I doing wrong, or does this have to do with flash not being compatible with the new snow leopard?
i am experiencing a strange and unpleasant situation.I am using CS3 and upgraded to Snow Leopard 10.6.2 last night, along downloading the latest Flash Player for browsers.
Problem is that now all of my text block arent displaying the same line height that before i updated?????
I compared the same exact SWF made under Tiger and those made under Snow Leopard and the two arent identical, lines are misaligned regarding line height!
Whenever i try to open any kind of file in Flash CS4 (version 10.0.2) , it instantly crashes, and i get the error message "Flash has quit unexpectedly."This problem has only started to happen since I recently upgraded my brand new macbook pro to Snow Leopard (mac osx 10.6.1).All other CS4 programs run fine
I hate to start a new thread but I didn't see one pertaining to this issue. I hope I am not alone. I recently bought a new iMac and it came with Snow Leopard OS. I ported over my Web Premium Creative Suite and all of my applications work great except for Flash CS4. I open the app to the intro screen but as soon as I try to open an existing project file or even to create a new project file, the app crashes immediately. I tried calling Adobe Support but they only turn me away, saying I need to purchase a $175 Support Plan for help. I just want my Flash to open. The same app works fine on my Macbook Pro (running Leopard). It seems adobe should be willing to help seeing as how the specifications say it is supposed to be compatible with Snow Leopard.Anyway, I have tried installing all updates and Deactivating/Uninstalling and Reinstalling.
I've just switched over to Mac OS 10.6 and found that the line spacing has changed in my files. Basically it seems to have increased the line spacing so the static text fields take up more space. I've updated Flash and I'm now on 10.6.1 but the problem remains. It doesn't do this on 10.5.8 or in InDesign and SL (but it does do a similar thing in Quark 7.5). It doesn't seem to matter what font it is either. Does anyone have any suggestions?
We have noticed Fonts shift down in our layouts. Our files are very messed up. One particular font that is doing this is TheMix. Anyone else have this happening? The same file opens and displays just fine under Leopard.
My version of Flash CS5 has recently become very slow to start up, taking well over a minute sometimes. It appears to stall for the longest time during a loading process called "Loading Accelerators" (yes, very ironic).Mac Pro running Mac OSX 10.6.7 (Snow Leopard) and 14Gb RAM.
I just upgraded from a Macbook that was using OS X Tiger to a new Macbook with OS X Snow Leopard. Now, when I open my flash files on the new computer, they are rendering the fonts slightly differently and off position. I am using the same software (Flash CS4) and the same font library.
I've been experimenting with this and I haven't been able to come up with an adequate solution. Hoping one of you Mathletes can point me in the right direction. I'm building a Snow Globe in ActionScript 3 and I need to come up with a set of equations to control two level of snowflakes - one level random, and the other interactive where a user can click on them. For the random snow, I need to have it create certain number of random x/y positions at the bottom of the globe, which is a circle with a radius of around 300. Then when the shake action occurs, They should randomly float toward the top, then fall back to a random position at the bottom of the circle again.
For the interactive snow, I need it to randomly layout, but I don't want flakes to overlap so that its easier to interact with them.
Today one of our artists started experiencing a crash in Flash CS4 Professional when scrolling the workspace around in one of his .fla files. All he has to do is hold down the spacebar and scroll around with the mouse; or use the scrollbars to scroll around. It has crashed about 10 times in the last hour, and we copied the file over to another machine and saw the crash there as well. We've only seen it occur with one particular file.
The machines are both Intel Core i7 machines with 8GB of RAM and two different video cards, one running Windows 7 and the other running Vista; and the crashes cause the Adobe "let me report this crash to the mothership" dialog box, so I don't think it's video card driver related; I think it's just a bug in Flash Professional. We're running version 10.0.2 with no updates available to Flash Professional when choosing "Updates..." from menu.
opening included templates in Flash CS5 and then telling the program to test the movie within the environment shows Flash trying to export an SWF file and then crashes. the program will alllow the movie to be played inside the environment, however.
debugging yields the same crash:
Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: Flash.exe Application Version: 11.0.0.485 Application Timestamp: 4badda9d
[code]....
DW opens and using one of its templates, no problems so far.Read about <supposedly> certain .Wacom tablet drivers and flash...don't have any such device installed, but stopped the generic windows tablet service....no change in the problem.
I recently installed the CS5 Master Collection on my MacPro for work. I need to use Flash CS5 in order to work on some projects in the office, however I'm encountering several issues that make it near impossible for me to use the software. First of all, when I start the program and select "New..." and select any type of new file, I'm greeted by nearly every button being greyed out, to where I cannot select them. I've found out that I can make these buttons usable by changing my workspace in Flash.
The issue that's causing me trouble is that whenever I select any sort of "Drawing" tool, Flash CS5 crashes immediately. Whenever I click on the line, pen, circle, rectangle, pencil, or brush tools, CS5 freezes briefly (about 2-3 seconds) and then immediately closes. I can still use tools such as the Pan tool, zoom, text, and selection tool. Also, whenever I select the Spray Can tool, I get the following error: Unable to load the script. The file <filepath>/ProScripts/sprayBrush.jsx does not exist.
I have already tried updating my system, updating every Adobe product on this machine, reinstalling, and even using a seperate installation CD, but everything thus far has yielded the same results. Info on my system: MacPro running OS X V. 10.6 2 x 2.26 GHx quad-core proocessors 12 GB DDR3
Flash CS4 frequently crashes after trying to test my movie. I have a MacBook Pro OS 10.5.8. I have updated Flash CS4 as well. Here are the problem details in the crash report.
I've logged this bug but wanted to post it to the boards in case anyone else is having this same problem. It's been going on since I purchased Flash CS3 pro and has been really crippling my development workflow because I can only get the debugger to work maybe 1 in 4 times.
I had been using Flash CS5 as a trial for the past 6 days without issues. Yesterday, I made a change to a file, and went to preview it, as I had several times before. This time, when I slected preview movie, Flash crashed umexpectedly. When I launched it again, it came up looking very corrupted - window as messed up, and any an all attempts to load any of the workspaces resulted in Flash crashes. I had to completely uninstall it including all prefs to get it to work again. I am hesitant to try a preview movie again.
I have a really really annoying problem with Flash CS5 (11.0.2.489) on winXP.Everytime I place a bitmap (jpg, png..) on stage, Flash crashes. It occurs with existing fla, as well as with new documents, but only as3!(with as2 new documents, it seems ok!)I tried deleting preferences (reg key and AppData folder), nothing changes. Rebooting does nothing.
I was working on a large website in Flash CS 5.5 on my hard drive Mac Pro V10.6.8, 6GB of memory. 176.78 GB of space left on the drive. I had set up the project in the Flash projects panel. I was opening files with"File open" and working on them. I have my fla files in a src folder and my classes in a com folder. This was the setup of my com folder. I was working in Flash and it crashed, when it started up again. It didn't offer me a temp file and all the files in the com folder have been deleted except for the greensock folder. But even the greensock folder was missing files. I went to the recent files when I click a file name I got this error.
I have searched my hard drive by name for the files and can't find them. They are not in the Trash. I have talked to three different Adobe tech support people in India they all tell me the files can't be recovered and they don't know why it has happened and don't even seem to care that their program has deleted hours of work. I am waiting on yet another tech support person to call me back. Does anyone know why this has happened? I have been working in Flash for 11 years and never had it delete 186 files when it has crashed.
I made a flash movie with snow falling from the sky in Flash 8 (actionscript 2.0). However, the snow I made differs from the original. The original is here: [URL]. I put mine here: [URL]. You will notice that my snow only falls downward: there is no randomness for the flakes to go left or right. There is no movement. Where in the script below can I change that so that there's more movement for the flakes?
I use the following script for the snow itself: onClipEvent (load) { //specifies the size of the movie stage movieWidth = 300; movieHeight = 200; //variables that will modify the falling snow [Code] .....
And on the first frame of my movie I put the following: for (k=0; k<50; k++) { duplicateMovieClip(this.snow, "snow"+k, k); }
I have an instance of the flvPlayBack component on my stage called myVideo a list of links down the lhs is used to pop in the required video. If a user gets say 1/3 of the way into a video and the presses a different link for a different video then: the new video pops up but the seek bar is still some way into the new video there is a pause of around 1 sec the seek bar goes back to the start.I want to speed up the return of the seek bar to the start of the new video.
Here's some code:
Code:
function clickHandler(event:MouseEvent):void { this.myVideo.alpha=1; if (linkType !="http"){
[code]....
This might be wrong but do I need to somehow remove the reference to the "old" video before I set the source to the new one?If that's junk - and it probably is ...How can I speed the return of the seek bar to the start of the new video?
Has any one experienced a crash when using "test movie" in Flash CS4 on Windows 7?For me, it started when I began working on an Actionscript 2.0 project. It happens every time I test a movie, then minimize the window.I have tried re-installing Flash, but the problem still remains. The weird thing is, it waits until I minimize the window. No other time.
Test movie --> Close it --> Minimize Flash --> Wait a second or two --> Crash
This is the first time I have used a FLV with cuepoints. I have a flv which loads into my swf which I have added cuepoints to on import. I have a series of buttons over the flv and when you rollover these you skip to various points in the flv. This works in principal but in reality it is a little slow, especially when it first loads. I am assuming this is because the FLV is still loading (although I am testing this locally and it will never be used on the web). If this is the case I think I need to make sure the entire flv is loaded before i show it. Secondly, is this the reason the rollover animations are slow to start or is this an inherent problem when using FLV? Is there anything else I can do to make it more responsive?
Flash Player 10.2.153.1and Flash Player 10.2.159.1 are crashing my standalone application. Later with version 10.1 the application run ok, never crashes but was taking more than 90% CPU. The new Flash Player solve the problem of resources, and drop down CPU to 30%, but the application crashes always after a while, unespectly, or if I open the window of other application.
In the other hand when I disable the harware acceleration at the swf settings, the application goes crazy and start to make rapid flashes, and frame rate goes down to 8. [URL]. Right click on the Flash logo, Settings, then UNcheck the hardware acceleration in Display Settings.)
I'm on a Mac Mini Core 2 Duo with Mac OS X 10.6.7 (the last Snow Leopard these days). The graphical card is Nvidia GeForce 9400M.
I did test the application at a Mac Book Pro core i5, Mac OS X 10.6.7, graphica card Nvidia GeForce GT 330M and the application is more stable but finally crashes too.
Finally if I export my application with GPU Hardware acceleration at Publish Settings, my application crashes almost inmediatly after I open it in each of the computers.
My guess is that the new Flash Version is using my graphical proccesor in a corrupted way.
I am experiencing no scrolling below a certain scroll velocity on both mouse and trackpad on my Macbook in Safari 4.I have the mouse wheel events working on my mac through the javascript bridge from http:[url]..... I also have normalized the delta in my actionscript to be -2 if below 0, and +2 if above 0. Testing the delta on the javascript side, the mouse wheel at the slowest I can scroll it reads well above or below 0, and the trackpad reads around .025 to -.025... so I'm wondering why is it that Safari doesn't see this until higher speeds?Scrolling works, I just have to give the wheel some speed before it kicks in. It works perfectly in Firefox.
