I know this is really subjective, but I can not stand what Adobe has done to Flash's interface (propertys panel to the side, etc). It seems you can only manually modify it so much. Is there like, say, a third party plugin that fixes this?

I installed the Adobe Flash Builder 4.5 which includes the eclipse plugin.I want 2 use my existing eclipse, so I copied the contents of plugin and features folder to existing eclipse folder.I see the Flex features in Eclipse, but trying to open the Flex Builder Path causes eclipse to crash. Error Message is :
"Please uninstall and reinstall the product
If this problem still occurs, please contact Adobe technical support for help, and mention the error code shown at the bottom of this screen.[code]...
I'm running out of ideas on what I can do to fix this issue, so I'm coming here for assistance. For the past few weeks, I have been having ongoing issues with the Adobe Flash plugin crashing consistently. This happens on every flash playing website, including YouTube. I experience the following symptoms when playing flash video:Mozilla Firefox
- Sometimes the movie will start, and then I will get the flash plugin has crashed message and the option to send a crash report.
- Sometimes the movie won't start at all and I'm immediately presented with the crash.
- Refreshing the window sometimes will succeed, but again sometimes I get the crash immediately and other times I get it part way through the movie.
Internet Explorer:
- Whenever the plugin crashes, it actually crashes the entire tab of Internet Explorer. No refresh page fix for this one folks.
I have performed the following:
- Ensured that both Firefox and IE are updated... they are.
- Ensuring that the flash plugin is the most up to date version... it is.
- Uninstalled, and reinstalled the flash plugin from Add / Remove Programs
- Uninstalled Flash using the flash uninstaller from the website, and then installing ver 10.0... still crashed.
- Updating from 10.0 to 10.1... still crashed.
I don't recall installing anything additional on my computer besides Call of Duty: Black Ops, and Civilization V within recent months. I'm running Windows 7 Professional which is constantly up to date, and the protection I have on here is Microsoft Security Essentials. I can't think of any application that would interfere with Flash enough to crash it.

Im the new kid on the block so I apologyze if I'm not doing very well.Everything works fine till the moment in which I set the wmode param of the flash movie to transparent, then the movie completely disappears (it loads, as I can listen at the sounds) but it doesn't show.I would like to have a full background image with the transparent flash movie over it, that's all, if somebody can tell me how to fix this or even a new way to do it, it will be so good!!Here is my code, so simple, by the way:

an answer here opening swf files using WebKit framework says the following about running SWF movies inside WebView inside Cocoa application: "because the Flash plug-in is not garbage-collection supported, the plug-in won't work if your application uses garbage collection".
Meanwhile, an answer here Flash AS3 animation in Mac vs Windows discusses Flash garbage collection on Mac (likely in Safari) and says that it sucks but it does exist.
So is the first claim about no garbage collection in WebView false or is the WebView plugin distinct from Safari plugin?

View 4 RepliesI have been trying for days to write my own custom NCManager class that allows us to connect to a Limelight stream. We have to issue a NetCOnnect.call() that has the command "FCSubscribe" and the stream name. I've written a 100% custom player(url...) (have to register!) but what I want to to resolve that player with the video-on-demand player(url...) into a single Flash project.I want to allow our Graphics guys (aka Flash developers) to be able to use the standard Adobe FLVPlayback components and skins and also be able to p lay back files, streaming content and Limelight content. To this end I thought that writing a custom NCManager class would be the way to go.
I have 99.9% succeeded: my class gets the connectToURL(),connects to Limelight, subscribes and all is well but I am really really stuck now on how to tell the FLVPlayback component that it .can start playing back now that the stream is connected.FLVPlayback and VideoPlayer parts appear to be AS2 and I cannot call the rtmpStatusInfo() function on the VideoPlayer part to tell it that it is good to go.I am so close I can taste it: If I create a NetStream object and play() it, I can hear the content to I know that if I could only get the FLVPlayback / VideoPlayer dynamic duo to playback then the job would be done.
I have attached the code, warts and all in the hope that either somebody has done this before or can tell me what I have misunderstood about the internal state-machine / FSM logistics that VideoPlayer et al implement.By reading the source code and my debugging statements I can see that I have maneuvered it towards the ultimate goal of playback but I don't know how to make that final step.
PS: I *know* that reconnect() is non-functional but if I uncomment the call all it does is go around the loop again; the real problem is I cannot tell the VideoPlayer that it can play (via rtmpStatusInfo) the data etc
PPS: The meta-data related stuff *only* gets called if I uncomment the NetStream code; this was to check that I had a valid playback stream, which I do at that point.
Well I'm having some interface issues and i can't figure out how to cope with them. In the simple example of Skype, the OS returns control to the Flex app when Skype exits. But what about native applications which have their own event model and wants to communicate with the Flex event model. For example, a Face detection system which shows "Hello" on a Flex app when the camera detects a face. Can this be done in the current Flex framework?

I am working on a having external swfs get loaded into the main swf one by one from an array.I can get the first one to load, but it just keeps on playing the first item in the array over and over, instead of loading the next movie. I have a container on my stage, cleverly named "container" and I am using AS2 and loadMovie.
I am guessing my conditon on my if statement is off, but I am not sure how to tell the onEnterFrame to check the currentframe of the loaded swf and not the container itself. I might be way off, but in my mind I feel like this mostly makes sense, but knowing Flash it is probably not nearly enough coding.I might also add this won't be running on the web, so I don't need to worry about preloading swfs since it will be running directly off a PC onto a screen in our office.Here is my code:

I've got the standard scene 1 with three frames on it. the first frame has a movie clip with about a 70 frame timeline. the second frame has a movie clip with about a 20 frame timeline. the third frame is black with a stop action. i'm trying to make a leaderboard banner, and i need each clip to play one after the other.
right now, when ctrl+enter it plays nothing. i actually have to rewind it to have it play the first clip. then it just repeats the first clip and completely skips the second. in the first clip's timeline, I have a parent.gotoAndPlay(2); on the last frame.

In my machine I have installed only Adobe Flash CS5 proffesional trial version. Now this installation is not supporting adobe.utils.Extension class in this version. I have tried with all latest updates from adobe site. My doubt is does adobe.utils.Extension class is available in licensed version of Adobe Flash CS5 proffesional?

we have a plugin for quark that we use for our catalog that automatically changes the price as we make new catalogs. now we are making an online catalog, i am using flash for parts of it in places that are to be interactive. but i dont want to go through and change all of them as the prices change. is there a plugin like the one for quark but for flash? if not, i'm just going to leave the prices out and let the customer go to the webpage to get the price.

View 1 RepliesI am rather new to Flash but have been in software/web development for more than 20 years.I have a project which I have to provide specs on which entails updating over 5000 SWF files from Flash 6 to Flash 9 on about 1000 classroom PCs that do not have internet connectivity.
Currently, I am simply just trying to setup one test machine but I can't seem to find the Flash 9 plugin to download and install. All I seem to find, even with a google search is Flash 10. someone direct me to where I can download the Flash 9 plugin and how to install it on my test machine?
I own Flash CS3 Pro so if there is some way to just copy components from it to the target machine,
