May 27, 2009I have tried putting fs command for full screen for my Flash site, but that only works if I open the SWF on its own.
If I try opening the Flash website thru my browser, a warning pops up that Flash is trying to comunicate with the browser.
I would like it when a person goes to the website, that the website will automatially open up as a full screen website. No tool bars, address, navigation etc., like a DVD movie. Just the whole screen covered by my Flash site and it does not rescale. The Flash site is the same size as if there is no full screen.
Full Text Search On Flash Website?
Oct 20, 2010i have a site entirely built on flash. its basically an e-magazine with lots of textual data. i need to implement a full text search where the user enters search terms in a text field and i need to highlight the occurrence of this search term within the textual contents inside this e-magazine
in a way its similar to what you do within a browser search or pdf search where after typing your search term they highlight all occurrences of this search term within the webpage / pdf document
what is the best way to do this? any ready component / solution / code available?

Apr 27, 2005I've decided to finally make my own full flash site. I've got more than enough Flash and ActionScript (and XML) knowledge to pull it off nicely, but I was wondering if people who have already done this have any advice for me in terms of organizing the whole thing, so it's easy to upgrade and follow through during the time you build it. I was thinking a standard layout, maybe an intro and a first preloader, then a menu that choses sub-sections and each has an intro and outro transition? Oh, and for seperate sub-sections, do you put the preloaders in the main movie or do you include the preloaders seperately in each of the subsection swfs?

Jan 30, 2007I have a question on Flash structure "best practices". I am wondering which is the best way to go about designing a full website in Flash.I have seen the tutorials provided by Kirupa and others, but nothing answers the question I have. My question is this: How do I combine what I can do in actionscript and use the Flash timeline also? Or should I even try to combine both?
Ideally, I know we should use actionscript to design Flash pages, using CreateEmptyMovieClip, etc. That way the pages are truly dynamic using external images and xml files, and the entire Flash movie is only 4-5 keyframes. However, I cannot accomplish all the tasks in actionscript.I can do many things using Actionscript, write functions, tweens, filters, etc. But obviously I cannot do everything. Many things I want to do are easier using the Flash timeline. For example, a navigation bar which slides in from the outside once the entire page loads. I know the AS to make the nav bar slide in and out, but I cannot use AS to draw the nav bar in the way I want it (two layers of buttons with a line in the middle).
What is the best way to go about designing a site in this manner? Should I use the first few keyframes for the things I can do in AS, such as loading global variables, loading external data, etc. Then use regular Flash animation tools (keyframes & timelines) for the rest?

There is a line in the header which will scale full browser.k the attached rough layout. Red border will be removed. Now it is a guide of flash movie. Aug 7, 2009I'm working on a Flash video slideshow (which you can preview here).
I would like to be able to make it so you can click a button (I've got one made in the doc already) that will make just the video on each "slide" go full screen, similar to how you can do so with other videos on sites like YouTube and others.
While what I've linked to above is just a template I'm messing with, I'd like to be able to have a video on the right, let's say, with text on the left, and then be able to click a button (perhaps under the video that says "full screen) and have the video that is there fill the whole window and play. And then, hitting escape would bring you back.
I've seen plenty of tutorials for making Flash go fullscreen, but nothing out there yet for just the FLV contained on the page go full screen.

- the images are also called externally with the help of 'loader' component
- i have added a preloader at the beginning of my file
but still when i loaded it on the server....the images and the content is coming slowly....
load the whole file completely at the time of loading (including the external content)...?

Nov 11, 2005I'm looking at making some PHP Flash shortly to replace my current website, http://www.mathsnotes.com. I was thinking about allowing users to download a standalone version, i.e. the SWF file or an EXE file. My question is: Will the PHP still work, or is it parsed by another entity, e.g. the users browser?
Also, I wanted to add a live news feed - So is it possible to have flash check every frame ( like a _root.onEnterFrame() = Fucntion{ ... ) the mysql database to look for anything with a timestamp less than say, 5mins, and then display it? Or does PHP require a user to do something like "Update News"?
