I configured the httpd.conf as mentioned in d6093a7e2f8312a374a1bde-8000.html but when i call a streaming url e.g. http://<IP>/hls-live/livepkgr/_definst_/liveevent/livestream.m3u8 the request is still handled by the old apache, not by the FMS
View 9 RepliesI configured my FMS for listening on port 80 and redirect non-FMS requests to apache on port 8080 in the same server machine. It works well, but I've noticed several tcp connections from fmsedge to apache in Established status (it is simple to see through "netstat -nap | grep 8080" command) that stay forever (until FMS stop or restart). With a sniffer capture I seen that sometime the fmsedge requests to apache a tcp connection but it (fmsedge) doesn't use this connection. Then the apache server send a syn,ack tcp request and always fmsedge send a dup ack tcp response. So, the connection is active but not used, then apache doesn't close it.The kind of requests for apache are http get to js or php files. I don't understand why fmsedge create these connections.
View 2 RepliesFMS 4.5.1 Windows 2008 SP2 (64bit).We are deploying Adobe Flash Media Server 4.5.1 on a new server but Apache does not work (does not serve html files or stream Quicktime H.264 files).Assorted Problems & Error messages:
1. The webroot/index.html page loads locally, but the HLS/HDS streams result in a 2032 error.
2. The webroot/index.html page does not load from external locations:[URL] (does not load externally).[URL] (our old server, FMS 4.0 and Windows 2003). Everything on this server works, the 2 major differences being that it is running FMS 4.x on Windows 2003.
Some RTMP streaming works externally and internally (f4v files):[URL]FMS does not stream Quicktime H.264 files even though f4v files work.New server (does not work): [URL]Old server (Quicktime/H.264 file works):[URL]Apache does not serve Quicktime/H.264 files: I made sure that Apache had all of the correct mime types specified.
Error messages and attempted solutions:Apache's erro_log file: a. httpd.exe: Could not determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using 127.0.0.1 for ServerName
2. FMS master.log file
a. FMSHttpd -k start returned 1: [URL]1a: Edited httpd.conf file to include ServerName 63.116.232.5
1b: The presence of this error message also indicates that Apache httpd was unable to obtain a fully-qualified hostname by doing a reverse lookup on your server's IP address.
In order for the server to accept external connections a reverse DNS lookup needs to be created. I created a reverse DNS lookup and edited the /etc/hosts file to include the IPaddress, Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN), shortname.

View 5 RepliesWhen using DVR with RTMP streaming the stream could/would be saved as single big file on the server, but when using HTTP streaming the stream will consist of numerous chuncked files; in this case how will the stream get saved, will FMS 4 assemble the chunks? unlikely, will the chunks of stream get saved? in this case I wonder which tool could be used to access it and make VODs of it. What is the exact behaviour of FMS4 when dealing with storage of DVR HTTP streaming?

View 2 RepliesI am a video producer for a Non-Profit and in the next couple of weeks we are launching an online training, half of which requires watching multiple different video clips for this particular training around 50 deferent online videos. I'm a bit experienced with encoding video for the web (FLV, H.264) but would love to know more about HTTP Dynamic Streaming. As of now we just use a progressive download type of playing.
We recently hired a web dev and knows servers a bit but didn't seem like he knew anything about HTTP Dynamic Streaming said maybe we should search the internet for an auto detecting flash player? Anyways, is this something that I should be looking into for our organization if we do a lot of online video? If we purchased Flash Media Server would this be all we need? Is there like a Dummies book on this subject?
We recently purchased FMS4 and I'm in the midst of setting it up. However, not that it's a HUGE deal, but....
I see conflicting answers in the forums about whether or not it is possible to stream media in the HTML5 <video> tag (going back to early 2010).
Ideally, I'd like to stream (most of the time using flash), but for the specific browsers that support it, (chrome, ff, IE9, and select iOS devices) HTML5 video tags.
So, can FMS 4 do that?

If so, how? I gave it a shot using the above code (minus the "blah, blah, blah" ), and the video doesn't play - if all it is, is a syntax error, then please be so kind as to provide the correct syntax.
However, if it isn't possible unless you download something else, like the File Packager for HTTP Streaming or the Origin module for HTTP Dynamic Streaming..
Will the use of HTTP Dynamic Streaming in place of the RTMP protocol aleviate the connectivity problems experienced by users who are sitting behind restrictive corporate firewalls?

View 4 RepliesJust installed Windows 7 RC (7100), and got the latest Flash player for IE8 and Opera. My site [URL] has a music player I created that plays (streams) MP3s from a Flash Comm Server I run. The player works fine with Flash Player version 10.0.22.87 on other platforms, but not in Windows 7. Once you pick a song, it should start immediately. Even clicking the play button doesn't work. The symptoms make me think there's a problem establishing the netconnection for streaming.
I've read Microsoft added streaming of some kind in Windows Media Player for Windows 7, could it be interfering?
I have installed the FMS 3.5 Server on a separate IP from our main Apache Server: The server is running Redhat Linux 2.6.18-128.1.10.el5
FMS 3.5 running on ***.***.**.138 using ports 1935, 8080 (Admin Server using port 1111)
Apache 2 running on ***.***.**.139 using port 80, 443. (several sites setup on this IP)
However, when accessing the fms_adminConsole.htm in the root directory of one of the domains on ***.***.**.139, all login attempts fail. I am connecting to localhost and using the assigned user and password set up in fms.ini. Using either IP fails as well. The FMS server is set up to listen to all hosts as no specific IPs were set.
/var/log/messages show that FMS and the Admin Server are up an running and listening:

All other settings for FMS are default. This is my first time setting up FMS as a fresh install on a new unknown server and I am at a loss as to what settings to check or which files I may need to modify to get it to connect properly. It is a managed server is hosted by rackspace.com if that makes any difference.
Right now I do not have "server". Example: I do not have anything like windows sever 2000, 2003 etc. but I have and running IIS server on the same Windows XP Pro. On this very same machine I installed FMS server with the Apache that came with the FMS. I have read and followed the instructions time and time again in deferent ways to deploy my video on the server but no idea I used is working so my clients could view my videos. Looking forward to have site like "hulu" / "You Tube".
View 1 RepliesI have installed FMS 3.5 on a Linux root server with openSUSE 10.3 without included Apache 2.2. That is why the webserver is already installed and running. Now I should know next steps to configure both FMS and Apache to make it work for streaming recorded .flv files via HTTP and the VOD application. Starting Apache manually after FMS server is running always ends up in failure and error message: 'Address already in use. Could not bind to address [::]:80. If I start Apache first and then FMS server everything is running. But I guess this is not correct because the manual mentioned first starting FMS server.

View 4 RepliesI have a virtual directory (Storage Area Network) in 'C' drive as well as in "webroot" folder in Flash Streaming Server. What do I need to do to make RTMP videos work from SAN directory on Flash Streaming Server. It works fine for http. RTMP from vod -> application folder works fine. I have done a lot of research and found out that we can use virtual directories for streaming videos. I am unable to find steps on how to use it..
View 4 RepliesThe company I work for installed FMS on a server running Centos for a customer who needed streaming media capabilities. It worked fine for 3 months until today the customer called us and informed us that their client program can no longer connect to the streaming media server. No one has done anything to the server to cause this to happen. When attempting to access the admin console to diagnose the program, the streaming server returned a 500 Internal Server Error. So I tried another page. Same result. Reboots of both the hardware server and the FMS have changed nothing.

So can anyone helps me about comparing this two versions: Flash Media Streaming Server and Flash Media Interactive server, like if I use Flash Media Streaming Server, some function like NetStream.pause() may not work or something like that? I'm not sure if this is a foolish question but please let me know.

As I know computeSpectrum() cannot work on streaming files, so I think I need to access the recorded files using http instead of rmtp. Is that true?
View 1 RepliesAs of Flash 10.1, they have added the ability to add bytes into the NetStream object via the appendBytes method URL...The main reason for this addition is that Adobe is finally supporting HTTP streaming of video. This is great, but it seems that you need to use the Adobe Media Streaming Server (URL...) to create the correct video chunks from your existing video to allow for smooth streaming.I have tried to do a hacked version of HTTP streaming in the past where I swap out the NetStream objects (URL...), but there is always a momentary pause between the chunks. With the new appendBytes, I tried to do a quick mock up with the two sections of video from the preceding site, but even then, the skip still remains.Does anyone know how the two consecutive .FLV files needs to be formated in order for the appendBytes method on the NetStream object to create a nice smooth video without a noticeable skip between the segments?
View 6 RepliesI'm running Flash Media Streaming Server and have only been serving VOD up until now. I had my network administrator open up port 1935 to the outside world during the setup process and now I can't remember if that was actually required for streaming VOD to clients. Most documentation I've read says that this port should be open, but I seem to recall reading something at one point that suggested it wasn't necessary.
I've just started messing around with publishing live streams using Flash Media Live Encoder to the Flash Media Streaming Server. I have that working without issue but was surprised to find that no authentication is required before a client running the live encoder can publish a stream to the Flash Media Streaming Server. An authentication module is available however it only works with Flash Media Interactive Server and Flash Media Development Server.
If I leave port 1935 open to the outside world, there would be nothing to stop anybody anywhere from streaming video via my server. Anyone else running a default install of Flash Media Streaming Server and with port 1935 open to the outside should see that this is true of their setup as well. I'm wondering if I can safely close port 1935 without limiting the functionality of the server or if there's some way I can require authentication prior to publishing a live stream even though I'm not on the four-and-a-half-times-more-expensive edition of the product.
We (the university I work for) want to add an IP camera to the top of a building (so it has to be IP, we can't put a machine up there, so USB is out of the question) to stream a live view of the quad. The problem is, I can't find a way to stream any IP Cameras through the flash live encoder. I tried a camera by Axis, but their capture driver only supported MJPEG which the live encoder does not.
