So I've got a couple questions, first of all, is it possible to create a text box that when the submit button is pressed, goes to another frame "results" that displays the results, each preferably a link to yet another slide "info" that displays the full entry info?
I already know all the PHP for this, just wondering how to integrate it with flash, and show the results and entries inside flash.

Aug 9, 2010I am trying to create a search bar within flash which will generate links to frames within my flash project based off of given text. I have found a flash project online which does almost exactly what I need, but it only allows for searching a single word rarther than a full term or sentence. It also gives no error message when no word match is found. I am not very good at actionscript or I would be able to midify myself.

The idea is to allow the user (even not connected) to make searches live on the CD. There will also be a up-to-date version of the data on internet so if the user is connected, the application will prioritary load the online data.I was thinking at using ACTIONSCRIPT and XML.My questions are:1- Is ActionScript + XML a good choice?2- Is it possible to think at PHP + XML (so how to embed PHP on a CD without a sever?)

May 9, 2010my virtual keyboard is up and running. I am on the last leg of this project and what I need is, I am assuming complicated. Senario... the user types the department, suite number, or name of a particular person, the typing ends up in an input text field, with an instance name of "dirsearch". then the user clicks the button "Enter" and in theory the input text field, searches a file, and retrieves information which will be displayed above the keyboard. Most likey a bio sheet of what ever the user typed. But I need it to be flexable on the spelling of what the user typed into the input text field.

On registering your website, they give you a HTML code, which you put inside the variables of the search field. When information is entered into the field and the Search button is clicked, a movie clip containing a Datagrid will display resulting the Page name (clickable) and a few lines of text in the page.
I'm building this against a WP database using Flash8 / PHP / MySQL.
I'm experienced at developing Flash / PHP / MySQL websites (not using XML) that display MySQL results so I'm not a newby in this area, however, I'm new to having Flash input information and retreive results in a DataGrid
I already have a PHP script displaying the results from a search that works and now I need to complete the Flash frontend
Actionscript 3.0 :: Create A Sort Of Search Relevancy Within Flash?
Aug 19, 2009I'm trying to create a sort of search relevancy within flash and actionscript 3. The goal is to have a person's search return results that match the most user input search terms. For example, if a person searches for "apple pie", I don't want pictures of just apples, and just pies to show up first. I have, what I believe is a good system so far. I basically go through each item in an XMLList (consider it to be all the items that will be searched), and see how many of the terms return true. I add this number to a variable I called "relevance", and then push it to an array.
So now I have my XMLList and matching relevancy array. My big question: Is there a way to sort my relevancy array numerically, and have the XMLList(or a temporary copy of it) sort to match the relevancy array? In other words, when my relevance array sorts itself, I want the xml list to copy the resorting.
