I'm currently looking to use Flash to pull in two separate media files and to play them at the same time. From what I know about Flash, it's certainly possible to play two files, but is it possible to play files without embedding them in the Flash file?
View 3 RepliesHere's my problem. I currently have a Flash banner on my website that displays artwork I have made. However, it currently just shows jpegs that are embedded into the Flash file. Is there a way that I can set up a directory in my domain and just have the flash file pull these external images, at random to display? Also, it should be noted that it shouldn't pull the same image twice. That would look silly I would make the files all the correct resolution and size, so resizing is not an issue. I know you can do this sort of thing with javascript, but I want more control and a more stylish appearance.

I made another different script that republish that stream in localhost using NetConnection.publish(localhost/sameapplication). It works properly. But I would like to be able of managing it in the other way.
As titled, what is the way to record video/audio files using Flash Meida Server through rmtp, and allow users to access the recorded files through http?What I am trying to do, is to record a user's microphone's input and save it to the server.fterwards, I would like other users to be able to access the recorded files and mainuplating the audio data, by computeSpectrum(), to do some visualization of the audio. As I know computeSpectrum() cannot work on streaming files, so I think I need to access the recorded files using http instead of rmtp. Is that true?

I don't recognize the language. I have no idea what I am working with. I have CS3 so I have Flash CS3. I have FTPed what I have and the URL I feel like I am out of my element.

And here is what is happening: I have a preloader on the first frame and after everything is loaded it goes to the second frame and begins playing. If I just preview the movie in flash (Ctrl + Enter) then everything works fine; the music plays my text field is created (the time counts correctly), and the start/stop button works fine. If I then go up to "Simulate Download" to test the preloader and everything, when it loads and goes to the second frame, the music will sometimes play (and cut out), the text field isn't created, the start/stop button doesn't work, and I don't know what the problem is.
I think I have pinned it down to my my_sound.onLoad() function (that I don't think is getting run in the simulated download), but I can't figure out why it would work with a live preview, and not a simulated download.
I made web banners with the intent that the shell being the initial swf, could pull an external swf file from a remote site. View here: [URL]. The main .swf file has to be under 30k, which it is. now the other .swf files load when you rollover the buttons. this method fulfills the 30k requirement on the advertisers side - also allows the creative to have higher res images/swf files hosted on our site/side. In testing it locally, it all works great. But when I moved the .swf file to [URL] to test it - the files hang up when you mouse over the buttons - is there a chance you could check out my source? I have been encoding 1920x1080i mov files (h.264/aac) to 1280x720p (vp6/mp3) flvs.However, when I add older HD content into the AMC que, content with non-standard presets, the program hangs.I tried to import about 15 files last night and the program just sat there all night in a 'NOT RESPONDING' state.The video's have different audio and video settings and it's little difficult to pinpoint exactly what they were.Some are 1440x1080, some are 1280x900, some have PCM audio some of mp3.Now I temporarily resolved this issue by simply using cs4 master on my mac pro which worked great.However I have noticed a huge speed increase in CS5 64bit AMC.It takes 2-3 hours to encode 1 flash video on my mac pro (dual quad core xeon 2.9Ghz/32GB ram) with CS4.It takes ~20 minutes on my windows 7 station (single core 2 quad 3Ghz/8GB ram) with CS5.
If I drop a single file into the AMC CS5 que, regardless of the resolution, frame rate, or sound codec; it will import.If I then add another file with a different resolution AMC will hang and become non-responsive.It never crashed but I can't wait 12+ hours to see if it accepted a job or not.As I said before this problem was not observed on CS4 for mac it worked flawlessly, albeit a little slow.[code]

I'm having trouble importing an external .swf into my .fla. file. The only AS that is working gor me is-

However, once the swf shows, it replaces the background interface. I assume I have to add a _level into the code but how?
I've been requested to create a flash project in which all images are external references.Images (mostly png) are created and can be modified anytime by artists, fla files and actionscript are created by developers. When opening a fla file, images should be automatically updated with the latest ones on the server and be visible in the fla file.Technical requirements are as follow : Actionscript 2.0 and Flash player 9 max.I tried to use the Loader component, it seems to be what I want (with Autoload function enabled), but unfortunately ActionScript 2.0 component doesn't allow png files, and doesn't work anymore when embedded inside a movieclip or a button (image became totally invisible).A simpler solution should be to automatically run the "Update" button on every image in the library but I don't think Flash to be able to do such a thing.

Need to play an FLV video or swf that has que points that grab someone's name from a database and puts that in a dynamic text field and at the end of video sends out a code back that tells the server that the video has been complete. My code guy knows PHP MySQL and Javascript if that will help.

Is there any simple way you can access a very short sound file in flash without having to play it in an flv player. its just a ding sound to play when the user hits a button in the presentation.Also is it possible to access an external pic file and then convert it in to a symbol to be used within my presentation.I just don't want to store these files to keep my main swf small.

We purchased FMIS and we are encoding large 15+ hour MP4 recordings using flash media encoder. When opening these large files for playback, which have not been opened recently the player displays the loading indicator for up to 4 minutes! Once it has apparently been cached on the server it opens immediately from any browser even after clearing local browser cache. So a few questions for the experts
1. Why is it taking so long to load the file. Is it because the MP4 metadata is in the wrong format and the file is so huge? I read somewhere that Media Encoder records with incorrect MP4 metadata is that still the case?
2. Once its cached on the server, exactly how much of it is cached. Some of these files are larger than 500mb.
3. What fms settings do you suggest I change. FMIS is running on windows server R2 64 bit, but FMIS itself is 32 bit. We have not upgraded to the 64 bit version. We have 8GB of ram. Is it OK to set FMS cache to 3GB. And would that only have enough room for 3-4 large files, because we have hundreds of them.
I am using flash media server 4.5 for video streaming and genrate log files. In log file i have found the user publish point name in "x-sname" filed but this filed contains blank values in many events.This fileds contains value only in "PUBLISH,UN_PUBLISH,RECORD and PUBLISH_CONTONUE" event and other then these 4 events all events are not user related event.?I like to fetch the user bandwidth detials using these log files which user used how many bandwidth.I also like to know I can see serval files on flash log folder name "access.00.log,access001.log and admin.00.log,admin.001.log" Any one please explain what is the name convation for this filed how can i identifiy which files contains information for which date.?
View 1 RepliesI have a drop down menu whereby the clicking of a button causes it to move to a specific keyframe in the timeline. I also have multiple buttons which load external swf files.The problem is when i navigate to the drop down menu the loaded external files keep dissapering because they are not on the keyframe where the drop down menu is actuated. Is there any way of coding it so that which ever swf file is loaded remains there whilst the drop down menu moves to its specific stage in the timeline?

I have a movieclip that loads an array of external swf files. I thought making the next button would be as simple as changing just a select few things to the previous button.However, that's not working. When I try that, the movieclip doesn't even load the swf files. Below is my AS2 code for my file. I bolded the part at the end that is for the previous button. I have two external swf files which I need to load to the main page of the website, one is the about page which consist mostly of text, the other is an image gallery.Both of them have the same intro animation at the beginning.
My problem is, while testing the main page using bandwidth profiler, the about page loads beautifully, while the image gallery plays its animation first before it even finalizes to load the whole page.
I'd like my application to be pretty light so it loads quickly. So i'd like to place all my assets (XML files, graphics, etc) outside from the main Air file and when the main Air file is loaded into memory, I'd like it to load in the asset files at runtimeSo how do I go about telling Flash builder to save my asset files locally when it packages my Air Application and also ensure I can access these files while debudding my application?

In my main.fla, I have a code which loads the other two files. If i will click the "unload" button in the file1.swf, I would like the main.fla to unload the file1.swf and load the other file, file2.swf. Here is the code to load the file1.swf:

I installed Flash CS4 Professional trial version for school use. It wouldn't install successfully. I deleted the font files the troubleshooting guide said to, tried again, but gave up. (I'm afraid to run regedit and mess up everything else I have loaded.) (I previously had the Fireworks CS4 trial version loaded, then uninstalled it.) My problem is this- I have it running, but it saves files and then they can't be opened, even if I use the save function often- it's worse when I create the file, test the movie and then save.If I try to open it again, it says "cannot open file." Once it opened a copy I had saved, and it appeared blank, even though it was 544 kb file size. I only need it for a few more days, one more assignment and I'm afraid my previous files are corrupt. I have Windows Vista Home Edition.
View 4 RepliesI have masked the video clip. The masked clip is working fine. But the Actionscript 3, which contains 2 more SWF external movie clips not loading those files. Once I remove the mask they start working.
