when the embedFonts is removed, it works perfectly as expect. Otherwise when an image is clicked, it selects the whole text around it.

did anyone come across this before? is there another way to make an image clickable inside a dynamically loaded xml text?Alternatively can anyone suggest a method to style dynamic textfields instead of using html?I've tried with many different fonts, and many different stylesheets, its still the same.

I have a TextField and I am trying to display embedded images using htmlText:

In this case the raftImg is in the Assets class. The problem is that the image does not align as it should (it always stays in upper left corner). If I load it using "../ blah/ img.gif" it works properly.

Similarly, change the font to something specific, like Verdana, and set it to use device fonts and it still embeds font data (We're talking about 3 or 4k) but doesn't list any glyphs. Occasionally though, by screwing around, it doesn't embed anything. Then nudge some text in some magical way and it's back to embedding redundant data.

I have a static textfield using Myriad Pro bold font that, when set to STATIC TEXT works absolutely fine, in the correct font.If I set it to DYNAMIC TEXT and test the SWF, the text shows up as a system font; not Myriad ProIf I set it to EMBED CHARACTERS the text doesn't show up at all on ANY system, whether the font is installed or not.
I have tried adding the font to the Library and using that "Family" for Properties>Character in my dynamic text box, but get the same results as when I don't set that to EMBED CHARACTGERS. I've tried selecting the font for the textfield as both the standard OS Font, as well as the one with the Asterisk next to it, but get the same results both ways.The library font is set to "export for actionscript" and "on frame 1".
I don't think it's an issue with the font not being available, as I'm able to see it when setting textfield to STATIC type, and I use the font in other CS4 products (Photoshop, etc.).

i have a textfield, i embedded fonts and assigned htmlText, i.e.
txt.embedFonts = true;
txt.htmlText = '<b>my text </b>';
but it doesnt aplly html tags because of embedFonts... i tried to make style using css but didnt work is there any way to accomplish this?

There's a site I'm working on I have the alpha on the navigation buttons set to 0.2 the text appears with full alpha as I want I have a nice Old English font I want to use but when I embed the font it takes on the alpha settings of the background.I set the alpha for the text field to 1 but the text remains at 0.2.n how to set the alpha of a container without affecting the embedded text in it or to set the alpha on the embedded text independently?

I used the proLoader that comes in Flash5.5 to load a swf which contains a tlf text with an embedded font. The proLoader works great but it doesn't display the font instead it displays a font that looks like Helvetica. I also tried 'merged into code' in RSL settings default linkage and the swf still does not display the font I want. It works fine in Classic Text.

I bought this template a while back ago and now I am going to use it, the thing is the contact form is not accepting some characters like "q,w,e,r,t,y,@" etc. I remeber I had this issue a while back ago and I embeded the fonts and that fixed the issue, but with this one, aint working, I embeded all the fonts the template uses and it is not working.When I export the movie I always get the message "Fonts should be embedded for any text that may be edited at runtime, other than text with the "Use Device Fonts" setting. Use the Text > Font Embedding command to embed fonts."I went to text> Font Embedding> I added pretty much all the characters for the fonts but I am still getting the message and still I am unable to add characters into the contact form.

I save my (embedded) fonts in an external file (fonts.swf) that gets loaded at runtime. Pretty standard. I also use a bunch of UI artwork generated in the Flash IDE. Some of this artwork contains static textfields (thus, not proper TextFields that can change. Just frozen glyphs). Here's the problem: if I use the same font in any static textfield and then embed that same font into my collection of runtime fonts, the runtime font will refuse to render. It's the same effect you get if you set a textfield with embeddedFonts=true to use a font that isn't embedded. If I change the static textfields to use a different font, the runtime fonts work just fine.

There is something that i have been trying to figure out for a while which is stumping me.I have a setup where an air app dynamically reads files, and throws the contents to an SWF inside of it. This SWF is a Flash 10 file and contains a textField where the contents are then displayed.
I want to display the text as htmlTest so i can have it formatted. However, without embedding fonts, the htmlText is jagged and unprofessional.
Though it is a pain to figure out, I am able to embed fonts and display regular dynamic textField text, however i have not been able to a) embed fonts and b) display htmlText without the text disappearing.

I am trying to play a wav @ sampleRate 11025, but it doesn't work. If I write the same sample 4 times, and try it again at 44100, it works. Also, the sound appears to keep playing (buzzing) after the sound finishes. (after it's run out of data)

How can I embed my custom font and it's bold variant (and it's faux italic variant, because there is not real italic version) and get the b and i tags working in a htmlText field?I can use the htmlText field with system fonts (with b and i tags working) ... or I can use 1 of the embedded fonts for the whole text.but I can't seem to get flash to understand the bold and italic variants are also embedded.

I've been asked to write a standalone slideshow app which supports images (jpg, etc), video (divx, avi) and webpages (embedded html, rss).
I've done some digging and it looks like flash with flash air could be used to produce a standalone app which would run on both windows and Linux.
Before I start this long (and difficult) process, are my assumptions correct?

I have an html text field that I want to use as an ongoing chat field (dynamic) and since flash has alignment issues with images inside text, I thought I'd embed a nice picturesque font and then just code them apart
e.g <p><font face='_sans' size='12'>Hello </font><font size='21'> there</font></p>
The embedded font is the default font for the textbox, so only the non graphical text needs to have a font face. So in that example "Hello" would be in text and "there" would be the graphical font.
Problem is, after much trouble even getting the font to embed and appear, that the sans text never appears.Also, Iam constranied in that I have to publish as flash 6.

I'm having huge issues with Flash CS5 11.0.2.489 (even to see the version, I had to open the dialog box several times in order to see the version, WTFFF...). I'm working on Mac OS 10.6.6 64 bits. Sometimes Flash freezes (very often) and I have to reboot. Sometimes it goes down on its own.... And when I'm working on my Macboo pro, it just go down 10 or 20 times a day !!!! Sometimes, when I double click on a movieclip and come back to the scene, there is no movieclip left... They have all disappeared. Have to reboot.... And as this F*** software is a piece of ***, I try to save every 5 minutes, but saving takes a loooong time. And in a day, it can be a matter of 1 hour lost..... On the previous versions, I had no real problem.
Flash CS5 is just a pre-alpha version or what? The bug report site should have so much report that mines are surely not read. So I'm here to beg Adobe to do something quickly. This is just not a software made for production.

My dropdown menus work fine with tthe swf and xml file offline, but once I upoload them to my domain the dropdowns are all buggy and get stuck and don't drop down fully. I'm not sure what the problem is, does anybody have a possible solution.[URL]..

I made a .swf that loads a .xml file from a directory called "xml".That file lists the images that are to be loaded into the .swf.The .swf is embedded into an html file.The issue we are seeing is that if you don't include "www" in the url, the images don't get loaded (??!).But the .swf is running, and all the html and css works.If you use "www" in the url, everything works perfectly.[code]

I'm in the middle of the painful transition to AS3, and have encountered a stonewall. In AS2 you could export any font for actionscript and use its identifier (for example "Font 1") in htmlText:
my_text.htmlText = <font face="Font 1" size="20">"+Some text+"</font>"
But what's the procedure in AS3, as fonts doesn't have identifiers, only a class name?

I am dynamically loading rss description into it and would like to have first character and characters unsupported by other font be in that first font. i limited the range of char of that second font so all unsupported chars and first char should be in that first font.

When you use funky/weird fonts in a fla are they embedded automatically like a PDF file? So if the viewer doesn't have that font they can still see it?

Using Flash CS3, I have created a class that when called will
1.) Create a Dynamic text field,
2.) Import external HTML into it,
3.) Apply an external CSS style sheet to it, and
4.) Place it on the stage
So far it works great, but now I'd like to be able to specify an embedded font from the css file. I followed the basic procedure for making a library symbol of the font, setting its linkage to Export for Actionscript on the first frame, and gave it a unique name "myFont"
In my style sheet, I tried using:
font-family: "myFont";
or
font-family: myFont;
but neither way seems to work.
I also found numerous tutorials on how to make it work in AS2, but nothing in AS3. When I specify embedFonts=true in the before-mentioned class, it will not display any of the text, though it does draw the box and any image contents from the html file.

If I use a wierd or obscure font in my flash project, then I dont have to worry about the user having the same font installed, because it gets embedded in the SWF, correct? Or does it depend on something? If so, what?
Also, what about fonts getting embedded in the FLA file? If I use a wierd or obscure font in a flash project I'm working on, and then I pass off the FLA to a friend to finish the project, does he need the font installed? Or is it in the FLA file already? how this stuff worked but I sent the FLA to a friend and now hes asking for the font. I was sure it would be embedded.what is a good way to test that the fonts get embedded in the SWF? Do I have to uninstall the font inquestion and view the SWF and see if its still using the font?

- Created a seperate swf with 2 fonts in the library, linkage "_Arial" and "_ArialBold". "_ArialBold" has the style set to "bold". On the first frame I have:
Font.registerFont(_Arial);
Font.registerFont(_ArialBold);
When I load the swf in my main application and itterate through the list of available fonts the 2 new fonts are returned, but fontName outputs "Arial" in both cases not the linkage name.
textformat.font = "Arial";
This works fine, but I can't figure out how to assign the embedded font "_ArialBold" to a textfield. How is this done?
