I've been asked to write a standalone slideshow app which supports images (jpg, etc), video (divx, avi) and webpages (embedded html, rss).
I've done some digging and it looks like flash with flash air could be used to produce a standalone app which would run on both windows and Linux.
Before I start this long (and difficult) process, are my assumptions correct?
I want to create a slideshow of 5 images, with black fade effect in between. So from black to image to black to the next image and so on. Then it stops on the last image. I dont want any buttons or any interactions.

I want the background of the slideshow to be white and images to be placed into this box for the user to be able to manually go through the images.
View 1 RepliesI'm in the middle of building a simple flash slideshow, using alpha fades between images. I have three layers, the first one being text, on the timeline for each layer/image. The other two layers are images, small footprint (sized and optimized in photoshop, each less than 100k). When I hit the Enter key it will play on timeline but the preview and fla file just won't start, hung up on the first frame.

By pushing I mean having an image come in from the left (or right) and place itself on top of the other (or pushing the other out of view). Like a slide show of three images scrolling along but one stops for a brief period before the other image comes into view.

Some are directly embedded in web pages so that we can see the source and can save them. But how to save images loaded using any other method? You can see what I am talking about here. Is there any solution to save images from this site's gallery?
View 3 RepliesI have used this slideshow for few projects and all I've done in the past is import new images (about 100k) and publish. The image are bit map of type (png) not big about 100k size.
Without saving the file I do a "test movie". Instead of doing the slideshow it displays the first image but doesn't loop through the rest.
I'm at a bit at a lost here. The path to the image in bitmap properties on the origanal file in imported is relative but when I select a new image its full path.
I made a .swf that loads a .xml file from a directory called "xml".That file lists the images that are to be loaded into the .swf.The .swf is embedded into an html file.The issue we are seeing is that if you don't include "www" in the url, the images don't get loaded (??!).But the .swf is running, and all the html and css works.If you use "www" in the url, everything works perfectly.[code]

View 3 RepliesI have an flv video file that I've imported into Flash CS5 project as an embedded movie, because graphic and movie clip both produced still images. I want to embed the final product onto my website, and have the video autostart in the beginning, play all the way through, and then go back to frame 40 or so and loop continuosly from there. I've tried selecting the final frame and applying the instancename.gotoandplay (40); code but it isn't working. I read that this only works on keyframes, so I tried making the final frame a keyframe but because it is an flv file for some reason it isn't allowing me to do that.

I have a video that I've embedded into a project by means of linking it from my server, where it lives (not embedding it into the actual project) and I cant for the life of me find a way to get the video to continually loop when it finishes. Any looping meathod I've found so far using AS3 only loops the basic animations in the movie, not the video.
View 1 RepliesI have a website in Flash CS4. When testing the movie, my swf file plays. When I access another menu button, the movie still plays and you still hear the sound. I have the skin where the user can stop the movie before going to other pages in the site but my Question is: How can I get the movie to stop playing if another menu button is clicked? I ask because when I go to another page and come back, the video is not showing but I still hear the audio.
View 7 RepliesI embedded a video flv to use as part of the animation but its breaking apart the rest of the animations. Started well then suddenly flash stopped the flv at certain points and then actions to other parts of the slideshow started to look like a fast forward and jumping transitions. No errors on the output panel.
View 11 RepliesI have this site I'm doing in Flash with an embedded video.The site has background music that is loading automatically, but when the embedded movie loads, the volume on that is mixed in witht he sites music.If you mute the sites background music, it mutes the video sound as well. Make sense?How can I seperate them out or make the sites background music not load on that particular page.

One way is to create separate swf files for the web pages and load them when the web page is requested. Another way is to put the pages in separate frames in the same swf file or to use scenes and use gotoAndPlay(). Another possible way is to create separate movie clips for the web pages.

Time location of playback head (so I can display the current time in the browser extension via HTML5/JavaScript) Frames (so I can make capture them to an image file, save it and display image in browser extension) Original Dimensions in pixels (so I can display the original video dimensions via JS/HTML5 in browser extension)
Is this possible by using Javascript and HTML5 from a browser extension?

I am loading an external swf file into my swf file in CS4 with AS2. The reason I am doing this is that the external swf file contains a sequence of images and I tried to convert it to flv video but using many tricks and software out there (like converting to AVI and then to FLV) but there was always LOSS in quality. My question is! Is there a SWF player component much like FLV player component, because I need to give the user the ability to stop, pause, rewind etc.... the loaded external swf file?

View 5 RepliesI have trouble in choosing between external video with playback component and embedded video . I have tried adding video to dynamic page and everything is perfect .This video I have imported using the option File ->import video -> external video with playback component. If I try to execute flv on another system , the video is not playing eventhough it is in library.
So, I have imported video using the option of embedded video and this worked fine on another systems as it embeds video. The video plays for only 2 min 54 sec. I have compressed the bit rate to how much ever I can in premier pro. It resulted in reducing the size of the file but still I see the video occupying more than 3500 frames in the timeline. I feel this is not optimal.
