Professional :: Incorporate Playback Controls To A Embedded Video That Plays With The Timeline?
Mar 24, 2010
My question is how do I incorporate playback controls to a Embedded Video that plays with the timeline? I saw how easy it was to add playback components when you import video externally. I figured that I probably need to start by creating my play back components, but then I need code to tell the swf what to do?
I took a .flv and placed it in a .swf in Flash Professional CS5 (for smoother playback on my website), and I used Dreamweaver to embed the .swf on one of my webpages. The video plays back fine, but there are no playback controls. In Dreamweaver, I set "PLAY" and "LOOP" to false, so in order to play my video, I have to right-click it and press "Play." That seems odd and possibly confusing/inconvenient for anyone viewing my website (particular potential employers, because this is my online portfolio). how to add playback controls? I don't want to use any external players (like Flowplayer), as I am trying hard to avoid watermarks and having to pay for anything extra.
Interesting note: when I used Dreamweaver to insert the .flv, I had the option to select from a list of playback controls. However, the .flv did not play smoothly on my website, and I found the solution to place the .flv in an .swf for nicer playback.
I'm porting in an .flv to Flash for the first time. I created the .flv from an .MP4 using Media Encoder CS5, and then opened a new Actionscript 3 .fla in Flash Professional CS5, clicked File > Import > Import Video. Then selected 'Load external video with playback component'. Everything seems to have imported fine, but when I publish the SWF and import it via Dreamweaver CS5 and preview the page, the video is there, but the controls are not. There's just a white box where the controls should be. Also, the video is out of sync with the audio, which I believe is a problem with Media Encoder, not Flash.
Here are some links:

I'm trying to create a flash video that will incorporate powerpoint-like slides along with video footage. So for instance I will have slide 1 (graphic) - slide 2 (video clip) - slide 3 (text). I have used CS4 before for one of my classes but that was a little while ago, and I feel like I'm starting over again. When I import the first graphic (.png), is there an option to have it resize to fit the stage?
I have trouble in choosing between external video with playback component and embedded video . I have tried adding video to dynamic page and everything is perfect .This video I have imported using the option File ->import video -> external video with playback component. If I try to execute flv on another system , the video is not playing eventhough it is in library.
So, I have imported video using the option of embedded video and this worked fine on another systems as it embeds video. The video plays for only 2 min 54 sec. I have compressed the bit rate to how much ever I can in premier pro. It resulted in reducing the size of the file but still I see the video occupying more than 3500 frames in the timeline. I feel this is not optimal.
Is there any way I can create a slider on my desktop to access some of the controls of the YouTube Video player like volume, pause, play, playback speed? I know it is a flash player, but would this involve accessing the YouTube API or something else? For example, I'd like to program something similar to what's provided by the Enounce MySpeed application (control over play back speed).
I have successfully embedded the youtube video in my flash code with: //create area to put youtube video on screen this.createEmptyMovieClip("reason1_video", 10000); reason1_video._xscale = 60; reason1_video._yscale = 60; this.reason1_video.loadMovie("[URL]");
However, the video plays with black bars on top and bottom even though it plays without those directly from youtube: [URL]. Even if I take off the scaling, it still has the black bars. How do I get rid of them? It seems like youtube uses a different player than flash. [URL]. Click on #1 and you will see the video I am talking about.
I have a flvPlayback component in this url as you can see the controls are at the bottom so you can pause/play, adjust volune, etc. I've embedded the first url in a post at this site everything works fine there except the control bar is missing
When I play my animation in the Flash working file, the animation stops at the end of the timeline, as it should. But when I test the movie, or export it to any movie format, it will play an instance of a movie clip symbol that I used within the animation. There are no extra frames in the timeline beyond what should be considered the last frame. Is there a setting or something I have overlooked that might cause that instance of the symbol to play at the end of the animation, without appearing in the main timeline?
I'm working on a project where an flv will be embedded into the flash timeline and graphics will be animated overtop. My video is going to be around 3 minutes long, what's the best way to load this with out the view sitting idle while the entire piece loads?
I'm new to Flash and I'm pretty sure this a dumb question that has been asked many times - but go easy on me as I have searched and searched through and just can't find the answer.
I've created my first animation using a set of digital Jpeg photos and I've figured out the code for inserting this into my web page. It works perfectly and I'm very impressed with the quality of the animation and how small the file is. Now I want to add a simple control bar underneath with Stop, Play, Rewind - the usual stuff you get on YouTube, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it.
I have tried to loop a video. Though in the SWF, the video plays only once. Can someone see something wrong in the AS3 code below (relevant info tagged like this --->) (FLV instance is called "Film_mc")
Is there a way to hide the controls on a flash video (flv) until the user scrolls over the video? So the page opens, the video starts playing (still no controls visable) and then when a user scrolls over the video, you then see the controls for the first time. I have searched high and low.
I need to access and stream flash video stored on a US server. I do so from one of three PCs - all running Windows 7, all with same updates and same version of Flash. Two of them show a given video fine. The third runs the same video but it is clearly truncated on the right and bottom - that is, only part (top left two thirds?) of the video is visible. And two show timecode and the third...doesn't (or its hidden by the truncation). But how can this be? And more importantly, what can I do to make the third PC play streaming video correctly?
I'm very new to AS3 and have not really worked much since AS1 and a little with AS2.I have a video that I set a cue point named "getURL". It was imported into flash as Load enternal video with playback componet. The instance name for that video is "gunny".The code written is suppose to detect that cue point then forward to another html document. The video runs fine but never forwards to another web page.
I import the video manually from the File Tab. I change the stage size to match video (I want it full screen because I have "liquid layout" AS3 code in order to match browser window) I center the video on the stage.I make the video an Object (MovieClip)
And that's it.
The video play well, matching the full brower window and resizing accordingly.
My questions are :
1 - I am making the video a movie clip but is it necessary. I have tried without and it still works!! The only thing I find weird is that the "publishing" doesnt work when the video is not made a MovieClip. (I struggle to center the SWF in the HTML page)
2 - I don't know about the Netstream class. My server is a normal FTP (with PHP MYSQL) but not a streaming server. Would it be appropriate (better) to call the video through AS3 using the Netstream class ? (actually I am not sure of what the Netstream class is for)
3 - I have tried to loop the video using the classic AS3 code (that can be found anywhere). What is funny is that the code works when the movie is not converted to an object. But when it is, the looping doesnt work at all. Do you see a reason why ? (Maybe because the video is imported manually and not an instance created from the Video MovieClip Object ??)
I am using the FLVPlayback component to play a flash video. Currently, the input video I am using is a H.264 encoded .mp4 file. My question is regarding the type of video input which the component supports. In the sense, I understand the kind of videos which the playback component supports(h.264, sorenson spark encoded videos and the like). I specifically wanted to know whether there is a provision to play a video which has chapters and is there any skin to support such a feature?
Background Info: I am using Flash Professional CS 5 and the language is AS3. I am using flash on an embedded platform.
I have made my site and now the protocols of Flash wont allow the internet to playback the video, I dont know if you understand me but this is the message I am getting every time I try to open my finished SWF Project."The following local aplication on your computer is trying to communicate with this Internet-enabled location: my site IP" I looked for the location to allow the settings yet I cant find it.
I am running Windows 7/64 and Master Collection. I've created a clip of DV NTSC footage to test F4V publishing. Done this many times with CS3 and flv files but this has me stumped. I can successfully view the video and web page locally in IE and Netscape but on upload to my server I have the menu and placement right but no video appears. I created the clip in Premiere Pro CS5 and exported to F4V/FLV best quality. Opened an Actionscript Media DV NTSC template in Flash Pro CS5 and imported the video which I had pre-placed in my root web folder locally. I then exported the swf and saved the fla. All files were then in my root folder and the scrpts in the scripts folder. In Live View in Dreamweaver CS5 all looked fine. In each browser locally the video played as expected. Once all files were uploaded the video was not visible.
Embedded a few FLV movies in my flash SWF and they appear ok and play back properly when I test the movie from within flash (CNTRL + ENTER) or just run the generated SWF file i can see the playback controls fine.
But when i put that flash movie into a HTML file and preview it, the playback controls are nowhere to be seen. I have a strong feeling it has something to do with the location of the playback skin in relation to the movie or html file (but i have copied the skins like 10 times and pasted them into every level of my website and I still cannot see the playback controls!
I would like to be able to play my flash video on top of my website, and then disappear once its finished. Just like on the apple website, with the macbook air. This is probably very simple, but I am not sure what it is called!
I am trying to embedded an flv into a flash movie timeline that runs at 12fps.My source avi is 60 seconds in duration. However using cs3 video encoder with the frame rate set to 12 fps results in an flv that uses up 1440 frames of my timeline. In fact any frame rate selected always results in an flv of this frame length? Assuming that I need the flv to be 720 frames total (60 seconds * 12 frames), and not twice that duration as that would still have to be played at 24 fps. I undertand that there is a relationship to the original fps the movie was shot in (in this case 24fps) but will/does the encoder not produce an flv with the frame rate altered to match my timeline fps? or do you basically have to use a camera that shoots the original avi at 12fpsto get it to play in 12 fps timeline??
I am loading a h.264 mp4 video (quite big, 2048 x 768) into a flv player. When I test it inside flash (Ctrl + Enter), the video runs really smooth. However, when I publish my .exe (or even a .swf, although I need the .exe),
I want to import a video for optional playback into a flash animation. Now, the animation is a loop and replays after 120 frames or so. I noticed when I exported my moviemaker video and imported it into flash, it automatically asked me if i wanted it to arrange it to fit or not. the thing is, i don't want the video to automatically play like flash does for default. What i want is to be able to have it look like how a video looks in youtube 'before' you play it..you know how it has that 'arrow' sitting on it with a black screen showing
you that it's ready to be played if you want it to? well, that's what i want. so, if someone stumbles upon my animation loop on the web, they will see a little video in the upper corner that has the ability to play but it doesn't start
playing right when they get to the page. Also, when they play the video, the length is obviously longer than the loop of my animation, but I obviously don't want it cutting off when my loops ends and restarts, so is there a way to code where it will keep playing on it's own timeline apart from what the flash animation loop is doing? (it should be able to play all the way through, end, and be able to be played again no matter how many loops the animation goes through)second thing i want, is the video to be small..like maybe 220 X 180 in size.
when i exported in Moviemaker, I actually got a video size that I liked but the quality looked poor and sounded poor (I went with the Pocket PC export 148kbps or something like that). Now, was the quality poor just because Flash had to cut it off because of the animation loop restarting or is it going to be poor just cuz PocketPC export is a bad choice? In other words, what export choice should I go with in Moviemaker to get the desired results i want (with the desired width + height I want as well)?
Do you have to code to make it be a video that's got the arrow/blk bkgrd i.e. not playable til a user clicks...or do you just have to export it a certain way in Moviemaker to make it's format that way?
So for the first time I imported a video clip into Flash 8, used the wizard and even found a tutorial that basically walked me through the steps of the flash wizard.I imported a clip from my computer, progressive download from web server, tried both encodings of flash 7 and 8 medium,SteelOverAll skinning, the let flash do its thing, set my publish settings, published, tried it out and played SWF, looked fine, then uploaded the SWF, FLA, HTML and FLV on my web site but all it does is "waiting for .... .com", my website.I double checked in different browsers, Internetexplorer, Mozialla, Chrome, all having Flash Player 10 latest version and the FLV file is only 1.2MB big, yet after 10 minutes still nothing playing back online........did I overlook something here?
I have an FLV Playback component in a website that I'm working on and for some odd reason the controls do not work. The video loads and plays fine and the controls appear but you cant click on anything like you can when you assign the skin in the parameters. It is a default Flash skin. At first I thought it was due to the video layer being under a mask, so I moved it on top and it didnt change anything.
I've imported a Quicktime video clip into my scene. I want to slide this video clip in from off screen and have it stop at center stage using keyframes. When I use keyframes to move a video clip - the playback of the clip resets to it's first frame at every keyframe. Is it possible to move a rolling video clip using keyframes without altering the playback of the clip?
Recently any flash videos I watch keep freezing even when the video is fully buffered. The sound continues to play but the picture stops. It can jerk into life after a few seconds but then it'll freeze again and keep doing this for the duration of the video. I have no problems on my Windows PCs on the same web connection.[code]...
