Actionscript 3 :: Flex Compiler Get Confused When Property Name Matches A Class Type

This is more of a rant than a question; but I am curious to know if anyone has some insight for me. The application I am working on deals with a C# .NET backend; communication is achieved via a socket over which we push AMF objects. The AMF object class definitions are generated by the server side team and I just have to use registerClassAlias on the flash side to link them up - pretty standard; the only difference being that as they come from a C# background they prefer to use UpperCammelCasing instead of lowerCamelCasing for property names.
Today I got a bunch of updated AMF objects which I dropped into the project; but I noticed that after updating my project would no longer compile [code]...
I'm coding an AS3 web app which needs to access the webcam. The webcam code works fine apart from my initial attempt to detect whether a webcam is plugged into the pc. I'm trying to use Camera.isSupported as specified in the Adobe docs but I get a compiler error telling me 1119: Access of possibly undefined property isSupported through a reference with static type Class. BriefingScreen.as /ADAPT_PSA/src line 147 Flex Problem I can get around this by compiling without strict checking but this seems a little clumsy...
I narrowed the causes of an AS3 compiler error 1119 down to code that looks similar to this:
var test_inst:Number = 2.953; trace(test_inst); trace(test_inst.constructor);
I get the error "1119: Access of possibly undefined property constructor through a reference with static type Number." Now if I omit the variable's type, I don't get that error:

So what's the deal? I like explicitly typing variables, so is there any way to solve this error other than not providing the variable's type?

Why does it think that cPicker is static? Or that cPicker.hexValue is undefined? Also it seems that even after importing the ColorPicker library in the code using the import keyword, I somehow have to import it on the commandline for building as well. Is that correct?

Here's what's happening in the code. I'm trying to create a User class that is instantiated at the start of my app. I want the User class to have properties like mainStatus, with helper methods like setStatus etc. Pretty simple.
so on my HardDisk I have my flash_working folder with all my flash projects. I created my class file/package under the directory com.mypackage

If I try to access the public var mainStatus through user.mainStatus that gives a similar error saying:
Error: Access of undefined property mainStatus through reference with a static type Class.
So I have a movieclip named runman_mc and I'm just trying to make it so when I press the up arrow, his y will decrease. I keep getting an error code 1119 If there's anymore info you need, I'd be more than glad to post it. EDIT: I just had to name the class runman_mc and everything worked

Lately i discovered MATE (for Flex development) and was wondering: how do i bind a property in a view (actually a navigatorcontent component) to another property in a class so that they stay in synchronization (meaning that whenever the property in the class changes the property in the view also changes).
So if we have a view called Target.mxml and a property targertProp how do we bind it to the class called SourceClass with property SourceProp?
I have a site with ScrollPanes, that are calling a Class on what to display. (so the movieclip that I want displayed in the ScrollPane has a Class name.) My animation is a initial photo that turns around and becomes a black backgroud (were I'll add some text), now what I want is that the photo won't animate until I do a click in it. I used a Layer with a transparent image and converted it to a button and the export name is buti. The other to layers were converted to movie clips named preto and foto.

so far so simple right? But now i get the 1119 error Access of undefined property BUTTON_CLICKED though a refernece with static type Class. Here's the odd part- I can use the class as normal, and access any of its public methods/properties. If i move the RichButton.as from my shared code folder into my project folder (alonside my swf and flashDevelop project files) it works fine. I have exactly the same (as fr as i can tell) structure running in another project and it works perfectly. I've tried cutting and pasting across and trying to find what i;ve done differently but no luck.
working on an actionscript project to try and make an interactive drag and drop document. Currently everything has been working fine until I recieved this error after adding in another object to drag and drop. I've only added in one additional one so far, making the total of object in my script as two. I'm not sure why this error is coming up or what it means. I created my own FLV player skin and then wanted to know how to pass variables to flash via HTML so I could make my progressive download FLV player dynamic. I found a helpful tutorial on passing variables and just tried this tutorial out. I am following a code example in a book and have the final fla and as files, so I know the project works when fully coded.In the book, it tells me I can test the movie to make sure that it is working so far. When I do that, I get the error 1120: Access of undefined property.
The "property" is a component instance. If I take the example completed code and remove everything up to the point I am at, I receive the same errors, so I know it's not a spelling/syntax mistake.I have a feeling it is the Compiler in Strict Mode. But, when I change it to Standard Mode, then I get error 5001: The name of package 'com.foundastionAS3.ch12' does not reflect the location of this file. etc.

I have a main application(app.swf) which loads a module(profiles.swf) and the profiles module loads another module(member_profile.swf). In member_profile I get member data from the server side where an object of type Member is returned. The object returned contains an array called Jobs holding objects of type MemberJob. In the member_profile module there's a function that takes a parameter of type MemberJob to display the job details. I have a loop that goes through the array returned and calls the function for each array item like this:

I am getting an error at the addJob line: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert components.classes::MemberJob@19107d81 to components.classes.MemberJob.
And I receive this error always on the second loading of the member_profile module. I mean this module gets loaded when I click a member's name from the profiles module which passes this name as the parameter for the sub module to load the profile of that member including his jobs. So if I chose to see the profile of member "X" the profile is loaded without any errors but if I then click on member "Y" (which causes the sub module to be reloaded with the new parameter) then I get the type coercion error. And if I did the opposite click on "Y" first then "X" the same happens, error in the second load.
