I need to sort a Flash DataGrid column (not Flex) by date. I have tried giving the date column a sort function like below:[code]But this still seems to attempt to sort the column alphabetically.

I have a DataGrid set up and have the XML data nice and cozy inside of it, but I have a bit of a snag. The data I'm importing comes from a few separate files but the DataGrid ends up displaying all of them, so the rows are a bit of a jumble initially. Is there a way to tell the DataGrid, AFTER it has all of it's data, to sort itself out alphabetically based on it's first column?
View 3 RepliesI have a datagrid. I add a row to the datagrid using an ADD button. Once I add, I sort the datagrid based on a column. I also provide the serial numbers i.e. row numbers as first column to the datagrid. But, the serial number function does not apply after sorting. Hence, a new row added for e.g. row 5, based on sorting should be row 1, the serial number displayed is still row 5. The UI looks bad as numbers are not in correct order. the code is:[code]

However, I'd like to create a radio button called 'loadedRadioButton' and when it's click on, I'd like to sort the array on the loaded value first(any items with loaded=true should be at the top, sorted alphabetically), then afterwards, any other items with loaded=false, sorted alphabetically should follow afterwards, how can I do it?

The problem with this is I want to monitor the actual physical day change so if someone accessed the application at 11:59 PM and then came back 5 minutes later this would register as a 1 day difference (a new day), this current script requires atleast 12 hours to have passed between two dates for it to register as a new day.
I have thought about using the date number etc, but because months and years are so different it is quite a complex route, there must be something simpler.
Is it possible to ensure valid dates within flash without using the Date components?I am making a form where the user defines both their date of birth and a reservation dateSadly, I have been told that my database spits nuts and bolts if you give it an invalid date. When I get a collection back from the service tier, I create an ArrayCollection and apply a sort. When I add an item to the collection later on, the sort is still in place? It seems to be the case. I thought I was only sorting it once, not applying a sort that will stick??Here is the method for adding an item:

I want the top 3 voted items to be displayed in different colors, so i have a 2nd Array - sortArray.
Then when i diplay the results i plan on using the data from sort array to find out what color the voteArray data should have. The data from voteArray should be in correct order by ID.[code]...

For example, I use 'click to flash', but sites that use SiFR to render text are littered with "click to flash" buttons, which is getting very annoying. I don't use SiFR in my designs for this reason. But if I could spot wether there's a flash blocking plugin installed, I would simply not call the SiFR function.

I have been tasked with loading data into flash from a text file that is not properly set up for flash. it is structured like this:

Is it possible to make this work with flash? As far as I know, the file has to at least start with something like Variablename=string for me to even load the entire thing as a string which I would then attempt to split into useful pieces.
I'm trying to create a sort of search relevancy within flash and actionscript 3. The goal is to have a person's search return results that match the most user input search terms. For example, if a person searches for "apple pie", I don't want pictures of just apples, and just pies to show up first. I have, what I believe is a good system so far. I basically go through each item in an XMLList (consider it to be all the items that will be searched), and see how many of the terms return true. I add this number to a variable I called "relevance", and then push it to an array.
So now I have my XMLList and matching relevancy array. My big question: Is there a way to sort my relevancy array numerically, and have the XMLList(or a temporary copy of it) sort to match the relevancy array? In other words, when my relevance array sorts itself, I want the xml list to copy the resorting.
