Jan 26, 2012I am working on a drag and drop feature for the sparkScroller. This is sort of how my layout looks:

So when you hold your finger over a row in the items Scroller for more than a 30 seconds, the touchView becomes visible so does the dummyRow. The dummyRow gets populated to look like the row which you held your finger over.
So the touchView has the event handlers for moving your fingers and places the dummyRow where your finger is. The problem I am having is even though the touchView is reacting to my move events, the scroller still keeps reacting to my move events as well even though it's a sub layer. Because I started on the scroller it still keeps track!
How can I remove focus / tracking from the scroller?
Actionscript 3 :: Flex Spark ComboBox In A MX AdvancedDataGrid?
Sep 17, 2010I would like to use a combobox as the itemEditor for one of the columns of an AdvancedDataGrid. I looked around and decided to use Spark ComboBox components - they're slick and seem to natively support a lot of neat stuff including auto-completing strings when types in the textInput. After some tinkering I managed to add a spark ComboBox to my ADG, setup its data provider in order for it to expand as the user adds new items, and hook it all up. The result seems promising, but as always, a few details have been impossible to overcome for me (indeed I'm not a flex pro quite yet) and was hoping that someone could point me in the right direction. The code is pasted below and uses the tricks described here to use a spark component as an itemEditor for an mx grid.
If you play with the (super simple) app you will notice that if you click (a couple of times) on the last column to the right and open the ComboBox you can pick a value from the list, click on a different cell, and the selected value will appear in the cell you just left. However, and here starts the list of annoying things:
if you start typing in the ComboBox and press enter when the desired item comes up the ComboBox will remain emptyif you type a new item in the ComboBox and press enter the item gets added to the data provider (correct behavior) but the ComboBox still remains empty when you first click on a cell its current value also disappears I debugged the first two annoying scenarios and it seems that pressing Enter leads to advanceddatagrid1_itemEditEndHandler being called before myCB_changeHandler, which means that myRetVal is never set when the dataGrid does its update on its cells. The opposite happens if one selects from the list, i.e.

Flex :: Spark DropDownList As ItemEditor Within AdvancedDataGrid?
Mar 11, 2011I'm trying to use the Spark DropDownList as itemEditor in an AdvancedDataGrid. Howerver, I've stumbled onto two issues:Clicking on a item in the DropDownList changes the selected row in the ADG. You can see this behavior by compiling the code from below and executing the following steps.The value changes from "A" to "C" and Row 3 is the selected row in the ADG. It looks like the mouse click in the DropDownList is also handled by the ADG itself which changes the selected row accordingly. I couldn't figure out a way to prevent this. The expected behavior would be that row 1 is still selected after the DropDownList has been closed.Clicking on the scrollbar of the DropDownList closes the DropDownList. Sep 21, 2010I'm using the following mxml code for displaying a list of some data. I built a custom renderer which can have variable height. Each time a new data arrives, the scroller should go to the end of the list. I registered to the events which triggers an array change.
It's working fine if the height of items is the same. But if this is not happening, the scroller is going a little bit above the end.
If the height of an item from the middle of the list is bigger, then the last items are not visible.

Jun 21, 2011The answer to my question is possibly easy, yet I haven't found an example of solving it in the web, nor have I found a solution reading ActionScript reference. My problem is the following: I have a big UIComponent derivate element inside a Scroller (spark.components.Scroller) window. The Scroller class is great because when my canvas element, that changes size dynamically, exceeds its boundaries, scrollbars appear automatically and handle scrolling of my UIComponent inside it. However, I'd like not just to be able to Scroll using these automatically appeared scroll bars, but also by using a pan tool that I will myself implement (similar to the hand tool in Adobe software, for example). The thing is that I am not able to modify correctly the element's position inside the Scroller window.
I tried, as a first approach, accessing to my elements' 'x' and 'y' properties, however, when changing them, I dont get the resulkts wanted. The code for it is the following (in which, for symplifying reasons, I used a text label as my 'inside' element, and two buttons as an external scroll controller, instead of a hand tool)

Dec 14, 2010I would like to add new row on the fly (runtime) to my AdvancedDataGrid.I can add it to the data model, but couldn't find a way to make the table render and show the new row.What i am seeking for is to create an effect of expandable item, where clicking on row will show "additional information" (like a drawer) and clicking on row expand button will reveal it's children.I saw examples of this for dataGrid (http:url...), but not for AdavancedDataGrid.Only way I found to do this is to add a new child and use openItem, but this cause the other children to be visible as well.

Jul 7, 2009I've got a subclass of AdvancedDataGrid showing a tree-like data structure. How can I, given the index returned by calculateDropIndex, get the item at that index? After reading through reams of code, it seems like the least terrible way is:

The other option seems to be tinkering around with the iterator property... But, judging by the way I've seen it used, that will get pretty harry pretty quickly too. So, how can I get the item at a particular index in an advanced datagrid without going insane?

If I use a renderer provider I lose the the arrow for the tree dropdown. I want to keep the tree functionality and change the display of the column.(and not just the folder image)
