Actionscript 3 :: Spark - Manually Scrolling A Element Wrapped Inside A Scroller Window

The answer to my question is possibly easy, yet I haven't found an example of solving it in the web, nor have I found a solution reading ActionScript reference. My problem is the following: I have a big UIComponent derivate element inside a Scroller (spark.components.Scroller) window. The Scroller class is great because when my canvas element, that changes size dynamically, exceeds its boundaries, scrollbars appear automatically and handle scrolling of my UIComponent inside it. However, I'd like not just to be able to Scroll using these automatically appeared scroll bars, but also by using a pan tool that I will myself implement (similar to the hand tool in Adobe software, for example). The thing is that I am not able to modify correctly the element's position inside the Scroller window.
I tried, as a first approach, accessing to my elements' 'x' and 'y' properties, however, when changing them, I dont get the resulkts wanted. The code for it is the following (in which, for symplifying reasons, I used a text label as my 'inside' element, and two buttons as an external scroll controller, instead of a hand tool)

I found this example [URL].. which works great but only if you have the focussable elements in a VGroup.
However I have a Form inside the VGroup which means that the focussable elements are in FormItems of the Form. The Form can't be added directly into the Scroller and doesn't have a layout property.
I could use form.getElementIndex(formItem) and then do some math using the formItem y position but that's very ugly. Anyone have an idea how to get this working in a clean way like the above example?

I am working on a drag and drop feature for the sparkScroller. This is sort of how my layout looks:

</mx:Canvas>
So when you hold your finger over a row in the items Scroller for more than a 30 seconds, the touchView becomes visible so does the dummyRow. The dummyRow gets populated to look like the row which you held your finger over.
So the touchView has the event handlers for moving your fingers and places the dummyRow where your finger is. The problem I am having is even though the touchView is reacting to my move events, the scroller still keeps reacting to my move events as well even though it's a sub layer. Because I started on the scroller it still keeps track!
How can I remove focus / tracking from the scroller?

I have a spark List with an item renderer and a tile layout. If I scroll by clicking with the mouse on the scroll bar and trying to scroll with the mouse wheel after that, there is a problem: The interval of the scrolling is oversized, instead of scrolling one item down (or up) the List scrolls 4 items down (or up).

I have two columns: the left one is a Canvas containing an mx:Tree and the right one is a Canvas containing a Canvas (to allow for scrolling) of some custom Sprites that go along with the tree nodes on the left. I made the right Canvas scrollable (horizontal and vertical) and I want the vertical scroll to also scroll the left Canvas so that the tree nodes line up with their representations on the right. The scrolling portion works fine and when I embed with wmode="window" there are no problems. Unfortunately, the customer requires dynamic HTML to overlap the Flash at times and when using wmode="opaque" or "transparent", there are issues. The scrolling still works, per se, but Flash does not seem to redraw either Canvas appropriately. The Canvases become out of sync and artifacts often remain on the right side.I catch a scroll event on the right column and update the scroll position on the left column like so:

I know that there is no such function as getElementByName in Flex but I also now that you can do this["object_id"] to get the element of the application u're in.What about getting an element inside another element?I've tried making element["id"] ? But in my try-catch it always runs the "catch" part..how do I get an element inside another element just having it's id in dynamically created string form?

I'm using the following mxml code for displaying a list of some data. I built a custom renderer which can have variable height. Each time a new data arrives, the scroller should go to the end of the list. I registered to the events which triggers an array change.
It's working fine if the height of items is the same. But if this is not happening, the scroller is going a little bit above the end.
If the height of an item from the middle of the list is bigger, then the last items are not visible.

I have a list component with a (row oriented) tile layout in a group that sits in the main Application. I want the list to be centred vertically when there are not enough items in to fill the application window height, so verticalCenter="0". However, when there are more items than can fit vertically on screen, the list expands beyond the application window height and the scrollbar doesn't kick in. I can remedy this if setting the list height to 100%, but that means it's not vertically centred when it contains less items. The ideal solution would be maxHeight="100%", but of course maxHeight doesn't work with percentages. How would I go about achieving this behaviour?

I am developing an application with Flex for the GUI and Restlet for the webservices. I have a strange problem. I put my XML as a property on a generic object, and send it as part of a POST request. But in the Restlet webservice, this XML is irretrievable. How do I retrieve it? I tried initialising the received Representation object to a DomRepresentation, but thats not working. If I put the received Representation object into a Form object, then getFirstValue is returning that XML as a string! I noticed that the contentType of the HTTPService was application/www-form-encoded so I set it to application/xml and its not helping either. I am using a scroller component within a custom skin for a SkinnableDataContainer. I am running into an issue in that the thumbbar of the scroller stops at about the 50% point, however this is actually the end of the scrollable area. In actuality, the thumbbar should be at the bottom of the scroll track. Here's the code for the scroller:

[code]When I hover the upper (red) part of the List (I would like to have the List scroll downward, the higher the mouse position is, the faster it should scroll). Similarly, If the mouse hovers over the bottom (red) part, the List scrolls upwards, and the lower the mouse is hovered, the faster the list would scroll. I created an AnimateProperty, but that works well only if I would like to scroll to a selectedIndex, In this case, I would like the scroller to keep scrolling linearly as the mouse is hovered to a particular red area, and increase in speed when I scroll to either extremity.The Objective: While the mouse is over the Bottom (red part )of the List, the verticalScrollPosition scrolls faster as it gets farther than the center of the ticket list... yet there is jumping effect going on, I suppose due to the EnterFrame. the Same with Upper Part... the higher the cursor is, the faster the List should scroll.I feel this is a common problem to Flash CSx developers.

What I've got is a fla with some window resize code in it, and another fla that is linked to from the window resize fla, so basically when the window is resized the loaded swf eases back to the center. This works fine if all the content of the loaded swf stays within the boundries of the swf... BUT... if I place a scroller in the loaded swf then when the window is resized the loaded swf moves upwards and to the right (Not in the center!!).

I have several horizontal scrolling lists with differing item widths stacked inside a Vertical Group. On an item click all any selected item from the other lists will be cleared. When any of the lists are scrolled all the other lists should scroll exactly the same amount in the same direction, simalar to [URL]
The synced scrolling is throwing an undefined error and has crashed the adl(it is a mobile app) on one occasion. This happens only when I add more than 2 synced scrolling lists via event listeners.
So my question is: Can anyone see why this errors or is there a better way to achieve this type of horizontal scrolling multi-list, possibly a really wide data-grid or group of buttons inside a scroller?

I have an Application displaying a spark.List. Every item of my list must be visible (no vertical scroll).
I need my Application to be scrollable in a web browser, so I've add a Scroller containing all my components. When the browser window is too small to contain all my application, scrollBar appears.
My application looks like that :

When I scroll with my mouse cursor outside of the List, everythink works fine. When I scroll with my mouse cursor over the List, nothing happends.
It looks like the mousewheel event is stopped by the List, even if the List does not have a scrollbar.

How do you scroll an editable TextArea (Flex Hero) on a touch device? I am referring to the situation where the text does not fit in the TextArea height.When I try to tap and drag the text gets selected and not scrolled... Am I missing a something here? I have researched the infamous 'Flash hogging keyboard focus' issue, but I believe our issue may involve a workaround that someone else has already come across. I've tried the various solutions I've found on stackoverflow and other sites, which I summarize below.We have a web app, and a particular interface loads several divs that we are using as "tabs". When a user clicks one of the tabs, we hide the current div and un-hide the new one. Our main tab (which is loaded when the page loads) embeds a document from Scribd, which is loaded as a Flash movie. When a user clicks on the Flash movie, they scroll with the mouse/keyboard like normal, and when they click outside of the document control returns as expected.When they navigate to another tab and then return to the original tab and click on the embedded Flash to navigate within it, the embedded Flash steals control of the mouse scroll and won't let it go. The user can click in this document and scroll with the arrow keys and then click out of the document and scroll the parent window with the arrow keys, but mouse scrolling is still bound to the embedded Flash movie. The only remedy is a hard page refresh.[code]This doesn't work -- I can confirm that the element is removed from the DOM, but when it is returned to the DOM it hogs mouse scrolling when clicked just like before.I also tried a similar solution, but instead of removing the element I called [code]
