Actionscript 3 :: Auto-scroll In A Dynamic Text Box?
Jan 10, 2012
I have a dynamic text box called logtxt. I add text to this whenever i click on my box object.(this works fine) I have a UIScrollBar attached to the text box(still works). But I need it to automatically scroll to the bottom whenever I add text.
I like to know an easy way to create a text autoscroll (vertical) that worked when the text was loaded from another text file. it can use for news/site update. see the attachment.
I want to get my text to auto scroll vertically it is for a news section for one of my customers... I am loading the text from an external txt file. I have got everything to work but can figure out how to make it auto scroll itself.
I have a text document which is several pages long and will use scrolling capabilities. This text document will be contained in an external swf. There will be 6 buttons on the main timeline which will all load the external swf with the text document but I would like the text to autoscroll to a specific postion/part of document that relates to that topic/button. Also, i would like the scrollbar to move in relation to position/part of document in case the user stays in the external swf and reads and scrolls through the document. Is this possible? I have searched for a tutorial on this but have found nothing. I have tried different things but nothing has worked.
to make a single-line text box auto-scroll a text string horizontally with a way to detect new words on the x-axis.I'm trying to make a rhythm practice game for ESL students at my college, but I'm a linguistics major, not a programmer.I want something that is similar to the vocal part in Rock Band (minus the pitch, for now)So for a simplified, proof-of-concept version I just need it to detect when a new word has collided with a defined region of say "100 < x < 50".I know how to implement the microphone using activityLevel to detect when the user is speaking into the mic, but just not how to use activityLevel alongside the region detect of the new word in the text box.
I'm having trouble figuring out how I should go about making an auto scroll functionality for a text area in Flex.
What I have is a text area that loads text from an XML file at startup, and displays it in a text area. There is also an audio track that is plays along with the text. As the words from the audio file is read out, the corresponding word in the text area is highlighted red. What I want to happen is that if the highlighted word is below the visible range of the text area I want to scroll the scroll bar to adjust accordingly to the selection.
I know something about this was posted on the forums but I don't find the specific post.I need to have the scroll panel to auto-scroll until you roll over and I need to have this panel to scroll continuously to right or left.[code]
I have a dynamic text box that I'm loading data into from a PHP file using loadVariablesNum("data.php", 0);
The PHP runs a SQL query that fetches data from MySQL. The data in the MySQL database changes frequently, and I want to update the dynamic text box with the latest info.
How do you do that? Or is it possible? I assume you use setInterval.
Currently, it only updates the field if I visit the PHP file and refresh the data. Otherwise, the dynamic text box just displays the data from the last SQL query.
I have a series of dynamically created text fields that form a grid and I want people to be able to auto tab through each field in the grid. I want them to be able to enter in 1 character and then have the focus move to the next field in the grid.All of the TextFields are named "inputBox" with an ID number added to the end using the name property of the TextField class. So they are named as follows inputBox0, inputBox1, inputBox2, etc.Now for the code I am using to change focus to the next textfield:
stage.addEventListener(KeyBoardEvent.KEY_UP, checkTextField); function checkTextField(e:KeyboardEvent):void{ var instanceName = e.target.name;
I have a library MovieClip the I am putting into the Scroll Pane. Inside this MovieClip is a Dynamic Text field that I fill with data. I have the ScrollPane on my stage and have used the source, refreshPain and update to try and get the new information from the dynamic text field into the Scroll Pain. To no avail all I get is the orginal text that was in the box when it started.
I created a flash that's loading dynamic text from an external txt file. It's ON AIR flash that you can see on top right on [URL]
Now the thing is that I WANT THIS TXT CONTENT TO REFRESH AUTOMATICALLY... because I am actually loading txt file that's getting updated every few minutes, but flash content does not update, so the visitor must refresh page on go to some other page so the content will change again.
How do I make this work so that dynamic text in flash change whenever external txt file content change, without refreshing or changing the page.

I've struck with this issue for a long time now.I have one dynamic textbox that'll read a text file written in Thai language.The text shows fine, but when it have to go to new lines it'll go likeFor word: "Thai Language"Desired result:Thai LanguageMy program:Thai LanguageIs there a way to make dynamic textbox do an auto format with Thai/any language that will prevent this behavior?
I have dynamic text field that must be a fixed width and height. The actual text that will populate the dynamic text field is variable. What I would like to do is to reduce the font size if the text does not completely display within the text field's dimensions. How I can accurately perform this? Also, I am using AS 2.

I'm trying to have a dynamic text field with a black background. I want the text to be of fixed width, but expandable height, and for the background to grow with the text field depending on the input. I looked at the "autoSize" property for TextField, but it looks like that only adjusts the width.
Some "pseudocode" for your consideration: rolloverInfoBox.infoTextTitle.text="Title"; rolloverInfoBox.infoTextBody.text="Text body..."; rolloverInfoBox.infoTextBody.autoSize=true; // doesn't work; just for reference rolloverInfoBox.expandableBackground.height=rollov erInfoBox.infoTextBody.height;

Im supposed to make a marquee that has curved dynamic text scrolling through it. I used the displacement map filter for this and it almost works. the only problem is that when the dynamic text field gets to a certain x position, the filter stalls, but the text continues to scroll. Im really at a loss. heres what I got so far: [URL]
I'm working on an A.S 2 document that loads chunks of text from an xml file and places them in different dynamic text boxes. The amount of text in each section differs but each one has to appear one after the other regardless of the size.At the minute I'm trying to position the second one beneath the first by making its y value 10 + the height of the first one. however the height that i keep getting is the original one and not the re-sized one.
I want to make auto width text area. Using xml to pull the data, I would like to expand as data comes in. menu_item_group["menu_item" + i].item_label = nodes i].attributes.item_label; For example: enlarged according to the context menus in this example, the background [URL]

I have an issue with font scaling of a dynamic text box.
Currently i have one input box named input_1 with a variable attached to it named "choc_1".
Also, i have a dynamic text box named dynamic_1 with variable "choc_1".
When the user types something on the input box then the dynamic box changes instantly and displays what the user has written.
auto scale-size the fonts to a smaller size if the user types many letters.
The input_1 box has a 13 character limit. My initial font size is 200, i want to scale down so when the user types 10 letters they fit the box and they don't go out of screen. I want to use one line, so wrap or multiline is not possible.
here's a code that i'm trying to fix but i can't get the dynamic box to change:
There's a scroll bar that controls the dynamic text, but the bar somehow blocks before it reaches the end (bottom). I don't want to make the bar bigger because that way scrolls very very fast. So I want to figure out the issue so I can make the bar as long as I want, according to the quantity of text, to scroll correctly.
