Actionscript :: Set [Embed] Attribute Value Dynamically

Mar 19, 2012

Is there any possibility to set the source attribute value dynamically at run time?
for e.g in the code Embed(source="assets/images/image.pdf",mimeType="application/octet-stream");

I need to set source="set pdf file name using a variable or reading from config xml"

Actionscript 3 :: Access The Width Attribute Of The Embed Object From Within Application Swf?

Apr 4, 2012

I have a flex 3 project with a root mx:Application. The width and the height are set to pct values, because the application has several sizes that can be chosen by the user, so the correct size is set on the embed's width attribute.

how to access the value in that attribute. I read in several places that this.root.loaderInfo.width should give me that value, but it always returns 500, which I am guessing comes from the default application container width [URL].

I realize I could pass it as a flashvar, but that is not a good solution in this case due to the nature of the project. I've also tried pplication.application.width, stage.width, and stage.stageWidth, to name a few. I can't depend on any of those values, since they change based on the browser zoom level.

Html :: Wmode="transparent" Attribute Required In Both The <object Tag As Well As The <embed Tag?

Apr 3, 2012

To get flash to sit behind html elements on a page I read that I have to add this inside the object tag:

<param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param>

And this to the embed tag:

wmode="transparent"

Is it necessary to add both? Because in FF I got it to work with just the second, just wondering if that may cause issues in other browsers and devices.

AS2 :: Flash - Dynamically Embed A Logo?

Dec 27, 2011

My problem is this: I have 16 x different sizes of flash files. (banners) That's 1 set. Now I have to make another 20 different sets with 20 different logo's in them.(320 banners total) So the long and harse way to do this is open all 320 banners and then replacing the logo in them one by one.

My solution was to make 1 set and load a logo dynamically using the AS2 loadMovie function. But if I do that I have to have a logo image file in the same directory. My client doesn't accept this. He only wants flash files.

So, how do I embed a image dynamically on publish. So that if i'm finished with publishing banners I can just throw the image away because it's in the flash file loaded already.

dynamically images loading in AS2 but not dynamically embedding a image in AS2.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Load/embed Fonts Dynamically With XML?

Sep 22, 2011

I was wondering is it possible to load or embed dynamically new fonts?

In my current project the option would be needed. Situation is, I don't know what is the font and what would be the address of the font. So is there a way to bring new type faces in dynamically?

Here's my opinion which obviously isn't quite correct:

ActionScript Code:
var fontPath:String = "C:/WINDOWS/Fonts/BirchStd.otf";
var fontFace:String = "arial";
function setFontFace():void{

[Code].....

I get errors: 'fontPath' does not have a recognized extension, and a mimeType was not provided and Unable to transcode fontAddress.

Putting there for mimetype: mimeType="application/x-font-truetype" I get rid of the first one, but second error still exist

Actionscript 3 :: Embed Versus Dynamically Loading Sounds?

Jun 4, 2011

It's got 5 tabs, and will give the user the options to play about 10 sounds per tab.I have initially been loading the sounds on runtime, so whenever the user clicked a button to play that sound, I would do something like:

var sound:Sound = new Sound(new URLRequest("assets/hello.mp3"));
sound.play();

I'm not sure, but I don't think this is very good, since I would be loading that sound over and over again if the user pressed the button too many times.

I then thought about embedding the sound in each of the views (I have one view per tab), so would embed the sounds whenever the view was loaded. I think this is a better options, but still am a bit unsure about how the embed works exactly.

[Embed('assets/hello.mp3')] private var hello_mp3:Class;

I suppose it simply embeds the mp3 files when the swf is compiled (making it bigger), but they would not be loaded anymore once the app starts, or once that view is initialized again.

JQuery :: Dynamically Filled SRC In Embed Tag Not Showing Flash

Dec 6, 2011

This code here works if the src is filled with my videolink
<object width="620" height="348">
<param name="allowfullscreen" value="true"/>
<param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"/>
<embed src="myvideolink...." type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" width="620" height="348"/>
</object>

Now my next step is to fill it via javascript
$('a.videolink, a.videobutton, a.articlevideobutton').click(function(event){
event.preventDefault();
$('.video object embed').attr('src', $(this).attr('href'));
});

But this isn't working... empty flash is displayed. But the generated source code seems ok. The href of the link is in the src attribute of the ebmed tag. Source code is correct again but still not playing my video
$('a.videolink, a.videobutton, a.articlevideobutton').click(function(event){
event.preventDefault();
$('.video').append('<object width="620" height="348"><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true"/>

<embed src="'+$(this).attr('href')+'" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" width="620" height="348"/></object>');

Javascript :: Dynamically Add Wmode=opaque To Already Displaying Embed Elements?

Mar 17, 2012

How to dynamically add wmode="opaque" to already displaying embed elements? Without reloading the elements, the embedded content should not lose its state.

Just setting the wmode attribute with javascript doesn't work.

Removing the element and then adding it again makes wmode take effect, but the flash element loses its state, among other problems. E.g if it's a video player its position/playback status resets. So that solution is no good.

Any other way of displaying content over the embedded element is acceptable as well.

(I'm doing this trough a content script in a Chrome extension if that is of any help.)

This is not a duplicated of How to dynamically add wmode=transparent to Youtube embed code? as there the parameter is added to a frame and not directly to the element it self.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Flash Attribute Tags - Add In Custom Attribute Tags That Flash Can Recover?

Dec 15, 2006

I have been trying to figure out how you could add in custom attribute tags that flash can recover.

EX:
<param name = "movie" value = "somefile.swf">
<embed src = "somefile.swf" width = "550" height = "400">

Except, that I would like to add a Custom tag, like "randNum" so that the tag user could input some number, or rather, a flash movie could generate a tag with a number already put in...Basically, heres a really basic version of the idea.There is a Flash Movie.In the movie, you can input text into a textfield.Upon finishing your message, you click a button "save".

The flash movie then:

1. Comes up with a random number unique to the message.

2. Assigns that number to a variable... "randNum".

3. Saves message as a xml file to the server as "filename" + randNum.

4. Outputs into a textfield a generated HTML tag that a user can post on myspace and such so that it will load in the flash movie.

Except... in the tag, there will be a custom attribute. If the random number variable "randNum" was 00112233, the custom attribute will be 00112233.

EX:
<embed src = "somefile.swf" width = "550" height = "400" randNum = "00112233">

So when the movie opens, it retrieves that randNum from the tag and can use it inside flash. How can this be done? Sorry this post was so long, but I wanted everyone to understand the concept.

Actionscript 3 :: Embed Dynamic Audio File(s) / Use Variables In Embed?

Making a piano/keyboard application and trying to figure out the best way to set this up .I plan on having a directory of sounds for each 'instrument' in my assets folder (piano1/C4.mp3,piano1/D4.mpg,...)Is there a way to import/embed all of these as an array? Also is there a way I can pass a variable to this class to indicate which folder I want to import these from? Something that would be ideal

var type = "piano2"; //passed from class being called by
foreach(notes as note){
[Embed(source = 'assets/sounds/'+type +'/'+note+'.mp3')] private const C3:Class;
public var c3:Sfx = new Sfx(C3);
}

Or would it be a better idea to have a class for each of these "types" that pulls all notes?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Embed Fonts Using The Embed Button In "Properties"?

Apr 8, 2009

Is there any solution to dynamic fonts yet. I have tried to write classes and followed so much stuff on various blogs but none of them is working. For example, i'm using a font(which is not installed in most machines) say "abc" on my Input and other TextFields/Combos/Radio etc. Now no matter whatever i do, it uses some default font instead of "abc" if accessed from a PC in which this font isn't installed.

One (bad)solution is to embed fonts using the Embed button in "Properties" FOR EACH TEXT FIELd seperately and increase the file size? Still this way wouldn't work for Combos and radio Btns.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Get XML By Value Of Attribute?

I'm updating an old AS2 project and have a question about XML. This thing I'm working on uses two xml files, pics.xml and lang.xml. The last one of the two contains translations for the flash file and looks like this:

PHP Code:

<lang>    <trans lang="sv">        <nextPic>Nsta bild</nextPic>            <prevPic>Fregende bild</prevPic>        <showMap>Visa karta</showMap>    </trans>    <trans lang="en">        <nextPic>Next picture</nextPic>            <prevPic>Previous picture</prevPic>        <showMap>Show Map</showMap>    </trans></lang>

and in the pics.xml you choose what language to display by setting an xml attribute to either "sv" or "en".My question is, how do I tell the function that parses lang.xml to only parse the node with the right language. If "sv" is set in pics.xml I only want to parse the first bit om lang.xml there, you se what I mean? I don't what to use something like: this.firstChild.childNodes[0].blahblah cos most likely the users of this will ad more languages...
