I have an XMLList 'Keywords', which consists of about 30 elements. I want to count the number of unique keywords in the List, and how often they occur. Then display the top 3 most occuring keywords.

View 6 RepliesI try to load an swf in my flex 4 project using the following line of code: <mx:SWFLoader id="game_swf" source="demo.swf" complete="init()" /> the demo.swf file is another project i created using flex 4. the problem is that when i run the application i see only the loading bar of the demo.swf flash file and nothing else. if i try to load a different swf file (for a example a game i downloaded), it loads just fine.

Except, that I would like to add a Custom tag, like "randNum" so that the tag user could input some number, or rather, a flash movie could generate a tag with a number already put in...Basically, heres a really basic version of the idea.There is a Flash Movie.In the movie, you can input text into a textfield.Upon finishing your message, you click a button "save".
The flash movie then:
1. Comes up with a random number unique to the message.
2. Assigns that number to a variable... "randNum".
3. Saves message as a xml file to the server as "filename" + randNum.
4. Outputs into a textfield a generated HTML tag that a user can post on myspace and such so that it will load in the flash movie.
Except... in the tag, there will be a custom attribute. If the random number variable "randNum" was 00112233, the custom attribute will be 00112233.
EX:
<embed src = "somefile.swf" width = "550" height = "400" randNum = "00112233">
So when the movie opens, it retrieves that randNum from the tag and can use it inside flash. How can this be done? Sorry this post was so long, but I wanted everyone to understand the concept.

xmlList is alive and well in the xmlLoaded function. I need to access it in the loadMusic.fla.
difference between XML and XMLList in my example code? I am passing a node to the function and extracting the url of the file:

Why do I have to have 'current' as XML and not as XMLList? I thought XMLList's with length == 1 are handled as XML's anyway, aren't they?
I am trying to parse some XML i have retrieved via e4x in an HTTPService. The loop works and for each episode in the list it goes through the loop. However i get the following error when it is trying to append to an XMLList.TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.I am trying to query the local SQLite database and see if the episode exists (working) and if it does append to one xmllist and if not then append to the other xmllist.

View 2 RepliesMy Flash designer is reading an XML stream I'm sending back to the browser (I'm a C# dev). We have this working fine.
He is then selecting into an XMLList where a element has its id a certain value i.e. . This is also working just fine.
In this XmlList, are Events, that look a little something like this:
event
startdate
enddate
end event
I don't know how to use the formatting here - but each of those items is an element. startdate would have a value such as 04/02/2010 and enddate 6/30/2010.
Now, from this XmlList I do have of Events, I need to select all Events where a new variable myDate, falls in between the startdate and enddate.

I'm trying to loop through an XMLList and rather than giving me each item in the list as XML, it's just coming back with the positions as strings e.g.

It just alerts "0" or "1". If I inspect the 'item' variable, I see the same thing. But if I inspect 'myList' it looks like the XML. I've also tried myList.children() and strongly typing 'items' to 'XML' but nothing I do has worked.
What I want to do is loop through an xml file, and assign the contents of each node to a static variable with the same name. [code]...

The first time I change from state A to B it doesn't play the transition. After the first transition, the same state change does play the transition.
Before I let state B load, it parses an xml file and maps it to objects. When this is done, the state changes. Maybe it has to do with the parsing of the xml. But I can confirm that parsing is done, before it changes the state.[code]...
I would like to know what is the more practical way to embed many images using actionscript. Firstly, I don't want to download an image every time from the server, and then I would like to change the number of images and/or their names. What do you propose for these requirements? I have been alerted for the Embed tag but it seems a little inconvenient in its use as you have to declare a new class for each asset and instantiate the class separately.

I need to be able to find the name of the selected item when it is clicked in the tree.
For example:

The tags are all predefnied by me so I will know what they are, but I need to be able to know if the item a user has selected is "Object" and do something, or if they select "Action" do something else.
What is the syntax to get the names of these in flex4 and compare them?

I'm loading an xml file in AS3/Flex for an AIR app. When I save it, the indenting looks pretty, however all the tabs from the original file, are now spaces. Can I save to that the tabs remain?

I am working on a modular application. The problem is that scrolling doesn't work with datagrid and AdvancedDataGrid even in a non-modular application on FF and Chrome on Windows, works fine on IE. On mac, it works fine with FF 4.0 and chrome. how to get it working on FF and chrome on windows?
