Sorry if my code is terrible formatted, I am self taught using Adobe Help.This is what I need help on.I have a program installed on a game server (CoD4) that outputs the server information including player(s) info and would like to be able to make it so that there is a flash document on the website displaying the information for each player. I wanted the program to build the information automatically and so far I have been able to make it work but the formatting of the output is terrible.To make things simple, the only real information I need from each player is their name and guid. I've been working on a silly little flash chat program, and was just wondering, how would I put the server program on the web?I mean, it has to be running to accept connections, and I don't have my own web server, just 10MB from my isp.The server uses crappy old java, so could i put it in an applet, and then when a user logs on, it runs.....But each time a user logs on, wouldn't that create a new server instance? Would I actually have to have access to the web server machine to run a chat server?

As far as i know, the request should be return as a plain text, although Content-type, might be needed as well.I've tried using the following:[URL] and although it listens to the port and accepts connections, it doesn't reply with the specified xml upon request.I wrote a simple C# web server which listens to port 843, and serves the aforementioned policy - it worked out just fine, however, when using a SecureSocket connection for a secure connection (i.e opening a socket to a HTTPS/SSL protocol) - the request that is sent is encrypted using the hosts certificate. As far as i know, there's no way of listening or acquiring the servers certificate and decrypting the data via an external app hence, the only way is to somehow 'teach' Apache to respond with the crossdomain policy after a proper request is sent via an appropriate port.
Another idea i have is to read the server's certificate file stored in the Apache directory regardless of what happens on the server itself, though imo it's an overkill.
Is it possible with server-side scripting for FMS to call an external program once a stream has been unpublished?

What I want to do: -Have flash send a string (or number) from a website to a server running a C++ program -The C++ program will receive the data and do something with it -After that, the C++ program would send back a response -Flash would then accept the response My goal is to make a simple MMO, but I can't start it without a server program to handle the players. I don't need a super-complicated example, just something simple, kinda secure and coded in AS3 and C++.

2.I plan to use PayPal Express Checkout for Digital Goods (EC/DG) as my pay facility on the Flash webpage. My videos will play to a cuepoint and then jump to a PayPal button which executes (EC/DG) .I'm having trouble integrating PayPal with my Flash webpage. There's a lot of online help, but most solutions involve PHP. I bought the e-book, "Adobe Dreamweaver CS5 for PHP" which recommends downloading the XAMPP platform which contains Apache, PHP, MySQL etc.
(a) If I use the XAMPP software, as recommended in the Dreamweaver book, do I have to first uninstall the Apache that comes with FMS? I assume you can't have two Apache's running at the same time.
(b) Is FMS the Server or is Apache the server in the FMS installation?
(c) Does the Apache software installed with FMS include PHP and MySQL, which seems to be required for any server-side coding?
I want to use FMS with Amazon Web Services to implement my Streaming Video Project, but I'm not sure I can do it with all the problems I'm encountering.Two final questions:

I'm attempting to make it so that when a person fails to fill in blank textboxes in another app that someone else made and I have nothing to do with but affects the XML node Path, my flash file will look instead at DefaultPath if it can't load whatever is in Path..

Is the code I've been trying to use but it won't do what I want. I keep getting this error:

The XML is being properly loaded. Everything else is working. I just need to know that when something is blank it will look at the DefaultPath. I don't seem to be able to get it to do that.
I've spent a lot of time in the past couple of weeks learning Flash. I developed a Flash (swf) file that plays a Flash video (flv) with cue points. It all works very nicely locally, but when I put it on the server and try to access the html file, the Flash control is white (nothing visible) and a popup error message comes up with this error.I've looked all over the web (including non-English sites), tried playing with all the Publish settings I could think of (version check, local/network access, omit trace, enable debugging) and tried adding error handling code to the swf file itself. I've also tried changing the path for the flv file to be relative, absolute and somewhere in between, but nothing works.Does anybody know what can cause this error?

I'm using the RTMFP protocol to publish and play video and audio, but i'm with a little problem. I installed the FMS 4 Development Server in a Windows Server machine located in our local network and it works perfectly. In order to deploy our application, we have a remote server with a fresh install of the Ubuntu 10.04 Server, and the FMS 4 installed in this server. In other server we have the Java and Flex application, which will be used in the client browser.
The problem is that when trying to change the NetConnection url to the remote FMS server, which is the Ubuntu server, the netconnection can't connect to it. When changing to the RTMP protocol it connects, but with the RTMFP don't. I can't find any information in the log files or anything else.
I managed to make a local streaming (connection) to the server,by seting the FME at rtmp://localhost(or my IP)/live.But now i want to make a non local streaming.
View 2 RepliesLooking through our windows event viewer application logs, I've noticed alot of these warning listed. What would cause they messages to generated? Anything to be concerned about? It seems they're all created in between live event streams - after a live stream has stopped published and before the next live event stream begins, about a 20 minute break.

i have coded my first xml gallery, it loads jpgs and swf files.the swf files have each a video component on stage that controls the related FLV file.Testing the gallery locally I had no problem at all, but when uploaded to the server the jpgs works fine while the swf files (containing the videos) keep trhowing this error:

I heard about Flash Remoting MX, but it is a request / response mechanism. I could always request something and wait for asynchronous notifications from server. Since the script on the server side takes a LOOOONG time (it could take even more than a hour) i would like to drop the connection between my air application and server when a button is clicked. Don't know why but calling HTTPService.disconnect() is totally useless... No tcp connection drops and script keeps on running on server side. No HTTPService.cancel() nor set HTTPService var to null worked.
