View 1 Replieshere is the issue I am having: I have a button in my main movie and after it is pressed i want for it to open a pop up window right next to this button with some information in it. I have a email button so when you click on that button I want another window to open right next to this email button with my email address.
View 14 RepliesI am trying to mimic the basic mailto: href command you find in HTML in Flash AS3 but cannot figure it out.I simply have text in my flash project like "someone@someone.com" which i want to, when clicked, launch a new compose email with "someone@someone.com" in the to field of the users default email client.
View 2 Repliesi have a flash gallery .In this i need a email button ,when click on the mail button an email editor might be open ( outook ) with the currently selected image as its attachment .
View 3 RepliesI don't know if this is too much to ask but could someone give me a quick overview on how to create an email form that actually sends the information to my email? I have the form created, and I'll post the .fla file (I allow a laugh at my elementary flash movie. This is just a final project for an intro to flash class), and I understand I'll need the .asp file from GoDaddy setup on my hosted space.

I have a preloader that measures the size of the external swf, then goes to a frame with a 'launch site' button on it. When the button is clicked, I'd like a popup window to open that is the exact size of the swf file (1100x800), but I can't figure out how to do that. I know there is some combination of AS3 and javascript required. Has anyone done this? I cannot attach the preloader file that launches the external swf since this is my first post, but have it available if anyone wants it. I also have the site online for viewing as it is currently (just loads then opens in same window)
View 1 RepliesI want to launch another app, in a separate window - like Excel or something . I can predict a hard coded path to it - like "c:myappapp.exe".
View 2 RepliesI have a fullscreen flash .exe file. I want to be able to use the fscommand "execute" to launch an application "in front of" the fullscreen without escaping from the fullscreen. So it's like fullscreen with popups. I don't think it can be done, and some extensive research backs up my hunch, but I thought I'd run it by here and see if anyone has accomplished this.

View 1 RepliesI'm making an interactive cd in flash, I'm wondering how I can prompt the user with a way of saving video files (.mp4) to their computers.
Ideally they would click on a 'download video' button and then would be prompted with the usual window allowing them to choose where to save the file and name it.
Is there a way to do this within flash?
I've been using fscommand to launch files, can it be used to save files as well?
How can I send email to several email addresses by clicking the submit button one time. I am using Flash AS-2 .Shall be glad for any reference.
View 6 RepliesI want to make a button, when clicked, open a blank email in outlook express to an email, with a subject.i take it you would use:[code] just wanted to show you what i meant! that was just a random stab.
View 3 Replieshow to open a PDF in Flash CS5 that will launch into a popup browser window. In CS3/CS4 I used the "geturl" command and it worked perfect. In CS5, the geturl command always wants to open a url (ex. [URL]) instead of a local file on my drive. Is there any way around this to make it work like the older versions of Flash? Basically stop it from trying to launch the [URL]?
View 9 RepliesI found a great tutorial on launching a centered pop up window that kirupa posted and firefox won't execute it correctly or at all. I'm extremely frustrated because I need pop ups for my site to work and now it only functions in internet explorer or safari (mac). The url for the tutorial is [Url]
The way it works is that you have a frame action with the following function:

I am interested in creating a page on my website where visitors can download a pdf file. I have never done anything like this.good tutorial or website tat has info regarding the code necessary to make this work in Flash AS3.
View 3 RepliesI need to have a frame action launch a .html file (call it "time-crunched.html"), and then the flash window should close. That's it. It seems like it should be easy (and it WAS easy in previous versions).
I have already tried using the gotourl feature from AS2, but I keep being told that the functionality has been disabled in the current version.
I am on Windows XP, but I need the Windows projector file to work on XP, Vista, and 7, and the Mac projector file to work on 10.0 forward.
I'm trying to use ExternalInterface.Call to call a JavaScript function to launch a lightbox window. So far I have this:
AS3:
flash.external.ExternalInterface.call("launchLB", "" + aUrl + "");
JavaScript:
function launchLB(url) {
alert(url);
[Code]....
I get the alert but I can't get the lightbox window to display. When my as code makes the ExternalInterface call I get what looks like a page refresh and a blank browser window.
Why I am getting an extra blank browser window named "untitled" behind the main one, which pops up fine. I did test it on my remote server and it still had the same problem as from within flash itself?
var emailLink:URLRequest = new URLRequest("mailto:law@optonline.net");
email_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClick);
function onClick(MouseEvent):void {
navigateToURL(emailLink);
}
how to stop a browser window opening up when the email link is clicked? I'm using a button with this script:
on(release){
getURL("mailto: name@address.co.uk ");
}
I have an .fla created with a single key frame. In the frame I have a button instance (its own layer), a layer called "act" where my actionscript is entered, and an swf FLVPlayback instance (its own layer).
I simply want the button to show when launched, upon being clicked to launch my movie, and the button to disapear. My FLVPlayback points to an rmtp stream that works fine and is setup to autoplay = true.
currently I am using this code but the button doesn't disappear and the movie begins to play before the button is pressed. I have also switched the movie to autoplay = false but pressing the button does not play the movie.
the code on the "act" layer is (my_btn is the button and my_mc is the movie):
my_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, btnClicked);function btnClicked(e:MouseEvent):void{my_mc.play();}
I have a flash application in which there is a button. On clicking that button, a pps file should play. What I did is published the flash file in a projector format (.exe), created a folder named 'fscommand' and put the pps file inside that folder, and tried to launch the file lying inside that folder from this flash file by using following codes:
on (release) { fscommand ("exec", "file.pps"); }
Another way I tried which I found is:created a .bat file named launch.bat, put it in that folder & tried to launch the pps file via this .bat file using following codes:
Actionscript code:
on (release) { fscommand ("exec", "launch.bat"); }
'launch.bat' file code:
START "file.pps"
But still it's not working.
I'm looking to create a flash based popup window when a button is pressed within the flash movie. Not a javascript based html window or html browser window, but a window that is in the flash movie that is entirely flash based. I looked all over the internet and can't seem to find anything on this, and can't find anything on this board either. I am new to flash and actionscripting in general. I would also like to use the Tweener external class, or the flash tween class would work too.
View 1 RepliesSo I read through Kirupa's XML/Flash thumbnail gallery tutorial and have since modified some of its actionscripting to display my online design portfolio. How do I make it so that 'LAUNCH PROJECT' is a link? Here is the modified Actionscripting (I have one of each for the 3 sections):
Code:
function loadXML(loaded) {
if (loaded) {
xmlNode = this.firstChild;[code]....
As you can see at the bottom of the actionscript, I added a gotoURL action, hoping that simply by making <launch> read <launch action="gotoURL" variables="http:url...> that it would become a link. I, however, have had no such luck. Perhaps I have to add something more. How do I make it so that <launch></launch> has the ability to link to an URL?
How do you create an email link so that they click on the link and their send email (outlook or netscape) box pops up with the email addy specified in the send to box.

How to create a contact form within my flash that emails me when someone fills out the forms, including a very good step by step at VTC. What I have found is that most of these tutorials start with the assumption that you're creating the contact form on a blank flash canvas, which is reality, is not always the case. So while I am sometimes able to get the forms to work if I do it on a brand new Flash movie, the moment I try to recreate the form within my current flash file, it stops working. I have mostly tried to recreate the contact form as a seperate movie within my flash file on it's own layer and have tried placing the Submit button within the contact form movie and also outside of it - neither works of course. Using CS3 btw.
Here's the info:
So according the image, my contact form is called "mcForm" which is a movie clip within the larger .fla on its own layer. The actions that are associated with the 1st frame in the "actions" layer above are as the following:
Here is the code itself repasted:
stop();
var gatherForm:LoadVars = new LoadVars();
//Send form function
function sendForm():Void{
gatherForm.receipient = "my@email.com";

I am using one of the Adobe cookbooks to create an email form for my flash website. I am SO close to getting this rightI used the AS3 code below as well as the PHP code below in order to create the email form. Everything seems to be working fine, that is until I try to send an email using the form. When I input all of the text into the form, I get the actionscript default warning I wrote that states "Oh no! Something is wrong! Try again..." Hence the email will not send. What could be wrong with the script?Or does it matter where I file the PHP file, my swf file, html file, and my fla file? I tried several combinations of filing everything together, seperate,
ACTIONSCRIPT CODE USED:
