I think I need to define the database field I'm wanting to display, but I'm unsure how to do this as TextInput fields don't support dataField or labelField properties. Is there another property I don't know about? How do i go about fixing this?
getting data from a database and displaying it in a Flex (Flash) swf. Currently I have some C# code that gets the data from the DB and saves it to an XML file on my site. Then the .swf reads that xml file.
Got a client that says that Flash ( a panel that is pulling information from a database and simply displaying it in text field.) is not working in IE7. I told them that this is impossible as Flash is completely crossbrowser compatible. Am I missing something?? Is it a possibility?
Actually my requirement is my application consists a button(submit_Btn) when we click on the button(submit_Btn), each time it must to database(through servlet) and brings the data from database and places it on the flash swf file.Here my problem is for the first time when we click on the button it goes to database and place the data(which was returned from database) on the swf file.Next when we click on the button for the second time(or anytime) it is not going and bringing the new data from database(if some data is modified in database or not),Infact it is showing the old data(the data that was collected from previous ClickListener) only on the swf file and it is also not showing any complile time or run time error.

I'm having some trouble getting around a security restriction of flex. Saving a file is apparently an action that can only be invoked upon user interaction. The problem is that after my user clicks on the save button, I need to perform a database query to get the data for the file I want to save.
Because Flex works asynchronous, I have to make the database call and then catch the ResultEvent in a different function. In that function, I no longer have the user's mouseclick event. How am I then supposed to save this file?
I have 5 text fields & 1 list box component. I have found lots of examples of databases passing data to Flash but not vice versa. I realized that unlike the text inputs I had to set a variable for the list box I call OnlineAdTypes. I feel like I am very close because I do now see undefined rather than a blank field
I have arrays of dynamic text field that took data from an XML file from the database. Everything went well, except for the part that, when I insert a <a> </a> tag inside the XML file, the dynamic text alignment and lines went all weird. I wonder what's the problem with that...

I have a TextInput field that should be restricted to either capital letters, lowercase letters, numbers and underscores. This is the code I'm trying to use to restrict characters:
restrict="A-Za-z˝-9 \_-"
I'm using MXML for this Textinput component.
Unfortunately this does not restrict the character, which is the last character I'd like to restrict.
How can I add the backslash to the list of restricted characters?
Im a bit of a novice with flash and have become stuck while trying to achieve what should be a simple task. I am trying to read in XML data and display the lables in a combo box and then display the corresponding data in a text field below. So that when for example "Vintage Red Wine" is selected in the combo box, the description for that wine will then be shown in the textfield below.Most of the code is functional. The combo box displays the information i want. The only thing that doesnt want to work is the text field which should show the wine decriptions.

I have an app where I am looking to make the enter key act like a tab key. I can easily capture the keypress event and setFocus to a textinput field. The problem is figuring out which textinput field to give focus to. I have this code

The code is in a controller class and "this.window" references an instance of a nativeWindow mxml file "TheWindow.mxml". The first trace works as expected, but the second one gives null.
Regarding the dateField, there is the TextInput and the Icon. I want the icon to appear on the left side of the TextInput instead of it appearing on the right side as it is in the default state.

I am working on a function to generate a form at runtime in Flex based on a call to the DB. In my Flex 4 application I have a spark text input. When the user pastes data from clipBoard it throws error if the clipBoard contains a different format (other than string). This is the error message I am getting. I am building an application in Flex Builder 3. Yes, I know that it has an auto-magic feature to build datasheet, but that will not work. I see many Flex controls, such as combo box, can take an array as a data source.
My question, therefore, is (1) How do I send the request from my action script to my PHP form to request a record set. (2) Presuming that my dataset is in a PHP assoc array, how do I format it to send it back to Action Script. (3) How do I take the data received from the recordset, and put it inot an actionscript array, suitable for use as a data source.
I can connect to my database in PHP, and query it just fine, so I don't need help with that. For consistency, and humor, lets presume that I have the following data in an assoc array that I pulled from a database.

Im building this AIR app on Flash CS5, and I have this TileList that loads its data (images and names) from a database. I want to do a query with the name any item of the Tilelist when its clicked, so i need to send the name of that item to a PHP file that will execute the query. I am thinking of a function that loads the item name to a variable when the item is clicked. How can I send it to the PHP file and how would I load it to the query? The query I want on the php file goes something like this: Select lat, lon from mapdata where name=theVariable;
I have a Facebook application that has a picture gallery. It's build in Flex 4. I want to allow users to link to a specific image. How can that be done?
The only way I see this being done is adding a GET var like &my_picture=asd.jpg in the Facebook page URL, but I don't know how to read that from the iFrame.

The echoed xml in the first code produces a url link that contains a link to an image in the database. The flash is supposed to display the image on a flash movie clip call movieobject. I am having problem getting the image displayed in flash.
I'm having a problem with my flash-php-sql integration, my text output in flash keeps on returning NaN even if the data in mysql has a valid number(double).
I have text being inserted into a textarea component dynamically from a MySQL database. The problem is getting characters like the ampersand (&) to show. Also the carriage returns are being processed twice (or the carriage return and newline characters are both being processed).
