Flash :: Display Multiple Attributes In Mx:Tree?

Is it possible to display multiple attributes in a mx:Tree component? The XML looks like this:
<item comment="blabla" author="user1" date="21.05.2011">
<item comment="blabla" author="user2" date="21.05.2011"/>
<item comment="blabla" author="user3" date="21.05.2011"/>
</item>
I want each node to display the comment, author and date, on separate lines.
I am planning to use this to display something like the facebook wall: someone writes a message and the other users can comment.

I'm trying to make a Flex Tree Component display the children of a sprite in a hierarchical way. Moreover, dragging the items on the FlexTree would resort and reparent the items. I have special Elements set as Folders. This would allow other elements to be added there as a children by dragging an element on the tree and dropping it there. I have a failed attempt which works, but breaks when I try to add folders. Basically, it fails at reparenting the items by dragging and resorting folders and that Does anyone know of a component or something which can do this, has anyone have created any of this or could anyone give me a clue?

I'm using an external XML file to populate a video playlist. So I'm parsing the attributes like this:
tileList.addItem({label:item.attribute("description"),
label:item.attribute("details").toXMLString(),
data:item.attribute("src").toXMLString(),
source:thumbnail});;
But the "details" attribute is not showing up. Is there something I'm doing wrong? The XML element that holds the attributes looks like this:

details="More detailed description."
src="movies/myMovie.flv"
thumbnail="thumbnails/myImage.jpg" />

How do I get a Flex tree to display only specific XML nodes?
A sample of the XML data is below. Only the Grouper and Product elements should be displayed as branch and leaf nodes respectively; the Name elements should not be displayed. I can't use XSL or e4x to modify the XML as the Name elements' text is used as the label for the Grouper and Product tree nodes. Also, I cannot move the Name element to be an attribute as it needs to include a CDATA section.
It looks like using a custom TreeDataDescriptor is the way forward but I cannot find any examples of using one with XML.

I've asked this question before but had no answers... so here I go again I have a structure of objects: Top object A has as children (addChild children that is...) one or more objects B_1 to B_n. The B_n may in turn have one (1) associated object A' (Same type as top object, not displayed to begin with). When I click a B_n two things may happen:
1. If it has as associated object a A', put it on the stage (as child to B_n).
2. Otherwise it is a leaf and it does other things.
If '2' happens I want to collapse the tree, that is remove the top and all children of same type from being displayed. I thought a recursive approach should work:

I'm trying to modifty the Flex Tree control to allow a user to select multiple items by just clicking each of the desired elements (ie I don't want them to have to press Ctrl or Shift). If the user clicks a selected item a 2nd time, it will deselect it.

I am dynamically creating a number of objects (movieclips) which all have a number of attributes.[code]and so on. i.e sub attributes. I don't think this is possible? Only sprite and movieclips can have dynamic attributes so unless atrbY is a movieclip (which it isn't, it's a string) it isn't allowed?Each object can have suboptions with further attributes associated with the chosen suboption.Later in the program I will manipulate, read and interact with the objects and they have text display behaviours dependent on the suboption chosen. That part (should) be straightforward! heh. One the object has the attributes attached in a usable format, accessing them should be simple.This will be for a store. i.e t-shirt1 has size small, price 10, size medium, price 12, size large, price 14. t-shirt2 has size medium, price 35, size large, price 40 and so on.[code]
This format of the XML can be adjusted if it would make the parsing easier.I am currently reading the XML in, stepping through, grabbing the individual parameter such as category and then adding it as an attribute of the object and it works fine. i.e. I end up with obj.category = 'catname'. However, on suboptions I am having a problem.Should I put all the suboptions in a multidimensional array and use nested loops to apply them to the object?I would still have the problem of objX.suboptionarray[Y].suboptionprice which isn't allowed? In the above XML case Y would be 0,1 and 2 giving 3 suboptions to objX and each suboptions would hold attributes such as pvid associated with that suboption.I could go down the horrible route, obj1.suboption1subptionprice ; obj1.suboption1suboptionpname; obj1.suboption1suboptionvalue; obj1.suboption2suboptionprice; obj1.suboption2suboptionpname and so on and so on for each suboption which could be five options (small,medium,large,x-large, xx-large) and which would "work" but would be bad programming and involve splicing names to get say, the "third" suboptions' price and pvid e.t.c
Going down the route of mutidimensional arrays sounds good except that on say 50 objects I would have stacks of arrays which I'm guessing isn't great in terms of resources?.Just to add, the number of suboptions varies between object, every object has a minimum of one suboption (default option) but can have as many as needed (unlikely to be more than 5 but should be scalable). i.e some t-shirts only come in medium whereas some have many sizes.I have a fair amount of leeway on the format of the XML which I generate from the database so the formatting of that could change to make the parsing easier.

I have some dynamic text I want to change the attributes of. For instance, I would like the first few words of each paragraph to be BOLD and to be a different color. But when I select those words and change it to bold it makes ALL the text in the text box change to BOLD.

I am using several instances of the same custom component on the same SWF. The component is essentially just a textfield with special sizing requirements. I also have another "wrapper" component that deals with the info from the textfield components. I was initially planning on using the stage index to associate the data with the textfield component it came from. This became more complicated than I anticipated. When I trace from the wrapper i can't get the index of the textfield components. So I got it in the component code and sent it with the info to the wrapper via a custom event. The problem there is that i can't tell which component is which because they are indexed identically. I can also see the component shim as well as the textfield.I'm just really confused about how programmatic components work on the display list.
My main Question. Is there a better way to associate the info with the proper component? I guess that's my only question. Please point me in the right direction.
EDIT2: I created a dummy place-holder component that just draws a rectangle then at runtime replaces it with programmatically generated textfield component.

I've got four swf containing AS3, I want them to display in a row on full-screen mode. I can do this in AS2 bij loading them (other swf's with AS2) in timelines and fullscreen with fscommands. But I've tried searching for an AS3 solution the net a few days and looked for onEnterFrame and loadMovie etc. I just can't manage it.I can load one swf with:

I have a intro to a picture of a tree which has buttons on it. The intro is an embedded flv video (not using the FLV component). The video starts on frame one and runs to frame 2. The tree is on frame 3.When I click a button on the tree, it runs the respective frames then returns to the tree. When the tree appears, the sound of the video is playing in the background.How can I make this stop?

I've tried many different ways of accessing the name of an attribute, but just can't get it working.The current Function:

I have tried the name, I've tried searching it as an Object, I looked for solutions on stackoverflow.. nothing has worked for me so far. Originally I had the properties node as such: fearing that Flash was interpretting incorrectly.
edit: It seems like the XML was interpretted rather than printed out..

This is my first post on this forum, so sorry If Im posting in the wrong spot or asking stupid questions. I've been programing for several years, but I'm kinda new to using XML in flash. I'm making an xml menu system and I would like to know if it is possible to filter without a defining the parent node. For example I would like to do this... var whatIwantToFind = myXML..(@name == 'munkinugget'); Unfortunately this throws a syntax error. It tells me that its expecting a double colon before the semicolon.

AS3 I'm trying to load content from an XML Document into a Flash Presentation. My AS is in the top layer. This layer spand the entire document. Layer two is set up with keyframes every 10 frames. Each keyframe has a text box on it. I am trying to load the xml into each of these frames. Here is what I have in the AS Layer.

The content shows in the first text box on the first frame, When the playhead hits the second keyframe at frame 10 the xml isn't loaded in that text box. The text box instance names reflect what is in the code. When I put both text boxes on frame 1, the content shows..! What do I need to do to get the content to load in each text box?

When I create an instance of a MovieClip from my library:

trying to swap various children or change their index in the display list, and I think I might have painted myself into a corner (get ready, this one should blow your skirt up).I've got the following sequence of events:1. A pre-loader.swf (the parent) loads main.swf and about.swf, then adds main.swf to the stage.2. When main.swf is added to the stage, it displays all its content, including various buttons.3. When the "about" button is clicked, main.swf calls a function in pre-loader.swf that instructs pre-loader.swf to add about.swf to the stage.4. When about.swf is added to the stage, it displays all its content, including a text field.
At this point everything *looks* fine, but unfortunately the buttons in main.swf no longer work. They're visible, but they're no longer responding to mouse over/out/click events. I think maybe the buttons are being "covered" by about.swf (or its text field), so I'd like to place the text field below the buttons in the display list. However, since the objects are in different SWFs, I'm having all sorts of problems accessing them.
