Flash :: Text Based Health If Object Hit Then - 20 ActionsScript 3.0
Sep 20, 2011
I am create a little game just to get more experience in Action Script 3.0. What I want is: If you shoot. And the bullet hits. Than the text above should -20.. Say It has 100(health). And we hit. It will display 80. Second hit 60 etc. This is what I am having but it does not seem to work out.
Im making a shooter. I want my player to have health. Its similar to galaga. The player instance is PlayerShip and the shot from the alien is AlienShotT i want 100 health and -10 health per alien shot.
Is there an event listener to use to detect whenever I am leaving a particular frame on my timeline? If I am correct, Event.FRAME_EXIT only works on the newer versions of Flash. Is that correct? (I am working with CS3.)
I already solved the healthbar problem. Now what I want to know is if there's a way to set a max number for my health. For example, when I click "heal", it goes way over the max HP which is 100. Is there a way to set the max number to 100?
I am trying to control movement of an object in one frame based on timing. I have the movement working correctly. What I need assistance on is determining when it should move.I tried using timer() mod 1000 but am having no luck. What is a way that I can implement this portion?
i got a working flash text editor. It loads up a text file from a database and displays it in a dynamic textbox and allows you to edit it however you want and save it by sending variables to a php script which than saves the changes to the text file. It works great and when i download the tect file from the database it displays what i/anyone has saved. Only issue is when i refresh the page the text box is displaying what the text file used to say. i checked the database and thats not what the text file contains. =/ I have NO idea what would be causing this, as it loads the text file directly when the page is refreshed so it SHOULD display what the text files most recent contents are. any ideas? test it out at Simmpole(dot)com/flips/testtextsaver/tophp.swf
edit : i also tried making a button that forced flash to reload the text file and no luck.i also tried throwing the code that loads the text file in a ENTER_FRAME event and still no luck.
I am interested in saving the text content of flash based chat in a text file or xml. The repetition of the recorded words is very much correlated to the social , and psychological monitoring research I need to accomplish. The web based chat is not my own, so i don't have any administrative privileges over the server.
I've done my fair bit of HTML coding and work fairly well with CSS but i've never ever done a mouseover in flash.. Now, the website's text, all of it, is simply located on a text.txt file that the flash file reads and incorporates onto the website.. All text and images come from this text file. This is what I want to do.
Click on Enter site, then when it loads, click on the "Selling" tab at the top of the site. On the "My Listings" section is where I want to have the mouseover text and the "Market Analytics" section (which we'll be renaming) is where we'd like the image to actually appear. My question to you is can this be done within this environment and how so?
I can edit JavaScript somewhat, though its been a while.
I couldn't find a good, clear question and answer for this in StackExchange, so I'll pose this as clearly as I can and hopefully get a clear, concise answer.Suppose I have a .txt* file with variables for a bunch of objects of one type that I was to load into an ActionScript 3 program. I can use an import statement such as:
[Embed(source="test.txt",mimeType="application/octet-stream")] private var testFile:Class;
for some of the places where I need to do this, but I also need to know how it's different for files chosen by the user from their local hard drive.n code, how can I convert this file, testFile:Class into an array, result:Array, of strings?*: If you have a solution using .xml or another format, please also include a sample of what the file's contents would look like and how you would get them into variables within AS3Edit: Below is a quick example file I threw together, test.txt:
is it possible in flash that from an xml, a hexadecimal value of a certain color is passed to flash and be displayed as a background or text color. This colors are set by the users and it's just that the colors are passed into flash and i will display it in my movie as a background color or text color?is that possible in flash?if yes, how would i do this? please give me some samples or sites where i could see some samples. If not, is there any workaround for this? -- i'm thinkin by css but that's too troublesome..
I'm building a website where I hook people up so that they can anonymously vent to strangers. You either choose to be a listener, or a talker, and then you get catapulted into a one-on-one chat room. The reason for the app's construction is because you often can't vent to friends, because your deepest vulnerabilities can often be leveraged against you later on. (Like it or not, this is a part of human nature. Sad.)
I'm looking for some insight into how I should architect everything. I found this neat tutorial, [URL], which suggests using python & stackless + flash. Someone else suggested I should try using p2p sockets, but I don't even know where to begin to look for info on that.
I want to programmatically insert formatted text at the current cursor position in a Flex 4 (Spark) RichEditableText control. I could just modify the .text property But that doesn't allow me to insert formatted text. So I believe I need to interact with either .textFlow or .textFlow.interactionManager somehow? However, TLF is quite complex and I can't find a simple way to do what I want.
I just discovered impure.com and was very impressed by what can be achieved in terms of visualizing data using their workspace. Although the platform is free to use, but not open source yet. This causes a few problems because the API section works with .com sites for eg. for ebay, so I cannot visualize ebay listings for regional sites such as ebay.in because the link to ebay.com is hardcoded.I searched around, but didn't find other projects that offer a similar way to work with site APIs and other data sources with the kind of user interface and detail that impure.com does in a realtime way within a browser window. This brings me to the questions:
-What technologies would be involved in creating a similar kind of project
-What are the open source tools that can help develop a fullscreen UI to render the workspace. Are there any alternatives to flash for this, and how do they compare
The goal would be to use standard python data structures, python scripts to do some processing on these data structures, scripts to gather data from csv, json and API sources such as google yahoo, wikipedia and flickr, and scripts to render graphs, tag clouds, network visualizations etc. Then bring them all together into a visual interface that supports drag drop and simple type checking. How would the python backend integrate with the UI.
I have an input text box (txtInput) and a dynamic text box (dynTxt). I want the dynamic text to stay black but highlight a segment of that text in yellow depending on certain characters.
Alright, so after some work and a lot of mistakes, I made a health bar for my game. (This is in Actionscript 2) Basically, the code is on my main character's .as file, there is var maxHealth : Number = 100; var health : Number = 100; and further down the line... _root.healthBar._width = (health/maxHealth) * 200;.As a result, when I change the var health number lower, the health bar goes lower. Sweet! It works! Now I was wondering if any of you guys could help me code it so an enemy can inflict damage upon the main character. I have tried many codes but they have all failed. if(this.hitTest(_root.Monster)) { } What would I put in the brackets?
How do you create a simple Health Bar for Actionscript 3.0? I have been searching for this for a while, and all I ever find are AS2 tutorials. AS2 dates back to about 900 B.C. ; it is an archaic language and it needs to be left alone, FOR GOOD.
-Snivvle -------------------------- "AS2 is for dinosaurs" - Snivvle, 2008 "AS2 is for people who are afraid to evolve" - Snivvle, 2009 "AS2 is for people I want to punch" - Snivvle, 2009
i am a newbie in AS3 or should i say a total noob in actionscripts and flash itself.Currently i need help on how to make a health bar.Basically i need to make a health that decrease over time when the mouse clicks on it. Meaning:Example when there are like 4 objects, A,B,C,D A and B are objects that help that player score points and C and D are objects that make the health bar goes down. By using mouse event, i must make it able to detect the clicking when the object is being clicked.
i have an apple and the character the character can walk over and touch the apple when he touches it he gets 30 random health but then if he health is already 100 the apple will give him 130. ??? is their any way to make it so his health doesnt go past 100
heres the code on the apple
PHP Code:
onClipEvent (enterFrame) { } if (this.hitTest(_root.char)) {
I need help with a health bar that I am trying to create for my game, Nerd Wars. I have 2 health bar, the players health bar that changes from weapon choice and an enemy bar which shows the enemy health when the players weapon choice is on.
Between the change animation I have put a few second for the enemy/player health bar to go down in. The health bars should be going down by a certain random amount between 40 and 60 and this is where I think the problem is. post code that would generate a random number between 40 and 60 and assign it to a variable. I think that would be a good place to start.
Here is my code on a button, when you click the button it takes you to a certain frame and plays, it is meant to add 10 health. When I have it it 52 health, it doesnt go to 62 it goes to 92. When It is at 30 it doesnt go to 40 it goes to 100. why? please help.
on (release) { onEnterFrame = function () { if (_root.health <=90) { gotoAndPlay("use"); _root.health += 10; // I have tried it so this bit of code is in the frame ("use") so it adds 10 health when it lands on that frame, didnt work. } ////////////// only pay attention to the above.////////////// if (_root.health<=100)
EDIT: I already solved the healthbar problem. Now what I want to know is if there's a way to set a max number for my health. For example, when I click "heal", it goes way over the max HP which is 100. Is there a way to set the max number to 100?
I'm making a game with a health bar and I am trying to make a health bar that is curved.Currently I have a lineBar that has 20 segments that looks like this at the bottom left of the screen. What I'd like to do is write a function that goes through and modifies the scaleY of each to get a curved bar.I can easily scale them down in a straight line. So that it looks triangle ish
I am trying to create a health bar at the top of my game screen. I have gotten it to go down when the characters get hurt but no matter what i try i cant get the file to go to the next scene when health= 0.
