May 21, 2010I have text from an XML file that dynamically loads into a scrollpane.
The text appears in the scroll pane, and scrolls just fine --- but it doesn't show the full length of the dynamic XML text.
How can I make the length of a dynamic text area VARIABLE --- so that it expands to fill the length of the XML document?

Nov 23, 2011I've seen similar threads but couldn't find one with the exact same issue. I've a PDF / Word document with arabic copy when I try pasting that text in flash all the joined letters start appearing as individual letters.I've tried the dynamic text box solution in which you create a dynamic text box and assign the text to its variable that doesn't work. But strangely when you write arabic in dynamic text box (with out assigning the text to the variable) and double click to select the text box and its content the text starts appearing fine .. but when published its again all individual letter.

Jan 20, 2009I have been making a memory game, where words are shown to the user. Once they have memorised the words they go to the next screen where the words that they have memorised are shown. They then have to drag each word into a "correct" place and a "wrong" place. I now want to edit it so that I can use two arrays one for correct words and one for wrong words. I want to generate random words from each of these arrays. I have sort of worked out how this is possible to do but using dynamic text, but am I correct in thinking that the whole dragging the words thing is not possible with dynamic text. (I may be wrong though, I am quite new to flash).

May 4, 2011What im looking to do is dynamically create TextFields based on my array.length. So if I have 3 strings in my array then 3 TextFields with the array text needs to be created.
I've managed to actually create TextFields based on the array.length - however afterwards I dont know how to reference them individually, to lets say re-position x, y for array[1]. I've tried saving the Textfields in another array by .push method, but can't seem to reference them correctly.

CS3 Dynamic Text - Change Colors Based On Data
Aug 25, 2009I'm building a project for a gaming website and i have an interesting dilemma. How do i make the font color change based on the data loaded from the external .txt file.
Example:
In text files i could have... yes yes yes no no maybe yes no. If the text says yes i would like for the font to change to green, if no to red, or maybe to orange/yellowish.
So basically if i went in and changed the No to a Yes on a .txt file, the next time i viewed that flash section the yes text would be in green instead of the default set by the flash core itself.
I hope i am making sense. I don't even know how to go about starting and i stared at the actionscript list for awhile to no avail.

The number of dynamic text boxes that need to have their value set to "Ready" is based on the variable "myVar1". Which dynamic text box to begin with is based on the variable "myVar2". In the scenario below mytextbox4, mytextbox5, and mytextbox6 should all be displaying "Ready" when done.

Jul 22, 2009I have an interface that will have a variable amount of buttons in it and the text on each button can be anywhere from 10 characters to 30 characters. What I'd like to do is to have my buttons auto-size width wise based on the length of the text. I don't think that will be too difficult but I'd also like to have rounded corners on the top of the buttons so that they'll look like tabs and from my experience when you change the width of these buttons that have rounded corners they start looking a bit odd since they won't retain their original radius

Mar 16, 2009I'm trying to make an xml based tracklist for a music mix on a website. The code loads the info from the XML file, and displays it in the text field, and I have a UIScrollbar component as well. When I test movie, everything seems to be working fine. However, the swf file is 14.1 MB. The .FLA is only 690kb... so where the hell is the size coming from? I only have text in the xml file, and the code is pretty compact. Why is the swf so big?[code];If anyone knows how this could be done so I can create one shell swf file, and load the xml file in the html/php code.

May 26, 2010I'm using a tweening engine and I need to be able to base the _yscale % of a movie clip off the height of a dynamic text field that is slightly smaller contained within the movie clip. 52 pixels smaller to be exact.I'm very poor at math but I'm guessing so far that some variable needs to be declared to factor the percentage based off the height of the dynamic text field. And I just can't think of how to do that.What I know so far:movie clip height at 100% _yscale = 396 the 'buffer' space above and below the dynamic field = 52.So if my dynamic text field height = 0, my movie clip would be 52 pixels in height. And that percentage in _yscale is 13.1%.I just can't figure out the math for this and how to translate it into ActionScript.

I have three text fields sitting right next to each other, to create a row. Some times the text is longer than the width of the text field, I don't want to widen the the text field to make it fit, I just want to fade the last 20 - 50 pixels of the text out.
Is this possible to do without using an object above it, such as a gradient?
