I have text from an XML file that dynamically loads into a scrollpane.
The text appears in the scroll pane, and scrolls just fine --- but it doesn't show the full length of the dynamic XML text.
How can I make the length of a dynamic text area VARIABLE --- so that it expands to fill the length of the XML document?

I have an application that has a dynamic text area that pulls in XML content and i would like to have the text area grow, rather than use a scrollbar and i am wondering if anyone has done this or can point me in the right direction? I have dont quite a few searches and only find examples on how to do this in AS3, and i am using AS2 and CS3.

It's simple menu that contains one MC at start that works as button, u can edit size of the menu from external .txt file by changing the value of menu length. All that works fine , my problem is that every new duplicated mc contains dynamic text area as a label. Labels are also loaded from that .txt file , but that works only for the 1st mc because the newly created text areas in mc's dont have Instance Name set. How can i assign them from as?

the focus on it is see if the "titulo" is longer than 26 characters, if it's true the just "cut" it on the 26 and then add "..." to the text.

2) How can I make the scroller refresh to allow for new text in the dynamic text area. The content changes alright, but the scroller stays in the same position and if it wasn't needed initially, the scroller disappears and doesn't return on new text.

View 1 RepliesI have 20 squares, each one has a different number(1, 2, 3, etc.) The number is in a dynamic text box which is centered above the square( the square is a Sprite object called "MySquare".) I would like to make the squares drag and droppable. When I test the movie, the arrow cursor becomes a vertical line when over the number. I can click on the edge of the square but then the cursor automatically goes to the center and the compiler returns the error: property StopDrag not found on flash.text.textField.

The following script does not generates compiler errors, each function seems to be executed yet the file is not displayed. When trying the same code with myCV.txt and myCV_TA.text = (loader1.data) the text file is displayed OK. Flash MX and actionscript 2.0 had handled that differently but with success?

I just got the trial of Flash Cs5 and haven't used Flash since MX back in 04-06. Having an issue with buttons now in context of a scrolling text area. My code is set up as such:

Where up is the button to scroll upwards and down is...(you guessed it). Maintext is the movieclip in which my text is which each frame being the text "scrolled" further. My issue IS: This was working just fine UNTIL I added "Over", "Down", and "Hit" frames into my buttons (whereas previously they were just single frame arrows), and then when previewing my flash the cursor doesn't even recognize the buttons as such, and nothing happens if you click on either... If I got back and delete the over, down, and hit frames, BOOM, problem goes away. This seems very strange to me, I never had a problem like this in MX.

View 1 RepliesI would like to first add the xml to my flash. Fine I can do this.But I have a number of buttons, where when I click say CW1, i get the information from the XML file with a node of CW1. I have all the xml set up fine.As I have about eight different postcode types.
ST, CW, CH, TF, WV, WS, DE, SK, SY, and each of these may have numbers that follow, i.e ST1, ST2, ST3 and so forth.

I've a PDF / Word document with arabic copy when I try pasting that text in flash all the joined letters start appearing as individual letters.I've tried the dynamic text box solution in which you create a dynamic text box and assign the text to its variable that doesn't work. But strangely when you write arabic in dynamic text box (with out assigning the text to the variable) and double click to select the text box and its content the text starts appearing fine .. but when published its again all individual letter.
