Flash - Use CS4 To Build An AS2 Project That Uses The New FLVPlayback Component?
Aug 8, 2010
We have a huge project written in AS2 with the old FLVPlayback component which was responsible for progressive download playback of FLVs. I'd like to support MP4 files (which is now supported in Flash 9 and up with the updated FLVPlayback) but would like to not have to rewrite all of the project.I've seen in various posts on SO surmised that one could possibly use CS4 to open the AS2 project, replace the FLVPlayback component with newer one and build.
I was wondering if there was a way to get the sound from a FLVPlayback component and manipulate it with using a custom volume slider? Within my Actionscript I currently have this code which enables me to control the volume of a MP3:
import fl.events.SliderEvent; var mysong = new music(); var myChannel:SoundChannel = new SoundChannel(); var myTransform = new SoundTransform(); myChannel = mysong.play(0,10);
[Code]...
But Instead of using the MP3 for sound, is there a way to use an FLV's sound instead?
Currently we have a large project that was created in Flash and AS3. I know that you can't really compile or build fla's with ANT. I have seen all of the flex capabilities with ANT.We want to customize our final product so that we can swap out images and color schemes (other things too) on the command line.We want to use ANT to be able to build our project and control the command line.Basically end product, the user will just tell it where the images are and only take a couple minutes.Do we have to convert our project into Flex to do this?
I am developing a project with Flex, and I need to deploy my project in a form which can be used by developers who do not have access to Flash Builder. I've found references to plugins from Faratasystems, but it appears their sourceforge site is a little bit rusty. I could not find an up to date installation file that'd include FX2Ant plugin and work with my Flash Builder 4
One of the most annoying things when working with Flash/Flex projects is that it takes soo long to build the project. In a Flash game I am doing, it takes more than one minute to build it.
this is my first post on this board so go easy on me. i'm having big problems using loadMovie on a project - basically i'm trying to build a flash page that will run in full screen (as part of an exhibition) and will load up other swf files within itself. so there will maybe be a row of buttons along the bottom which load swfs into an area above them.
[Code]...
have spent all day on this with no progress so will be interested to hear your thoughts. when i have tried loading in other swfs into my blank clip much of the code in them as stopped working as well.
I have developed a video player using Flash 8 Professional and the FLVPlayback component. Recently I have been testing a few 720p .mov files converted to FLV by FFMPEG running on an encoding server. I am noticing that these files do not play back in my video player. It appears that they do not have any audio attached to them but when I play them in Adobe Media Player the audio is there.
Is this due to the FLVPlayback component in Flash 8 not supporting HD videos? When I test locally the video picture plays with no sound but when I run in a browser the video freezes and does not play. The progress bar appears to move as if the video is playing however.
Everything I've tried so far with a FLVPlayback component to seemlessly loop a progressively-downloaded 15 second video has failed. There's always a split-second pause when it's time to loop. For the scenario, embedding video in a flash project is not an option, and the split-second pause is unacceptable. I've tried setting autorewind to true and handling autorewind event fired by FLVplayback. I've tried watching the playhead of the flvplayer for when It gets upwards of 99.5 percent done and seeking to 0. My latest solution involves having two VideoPlayer instances with the same source behind the FLVPlayback component and toggling between them when it's time to loop, and there is still a seem between the end and beginning. I've tested the video in quicktime to make sure it's not an artifact of the video.
I'm trying to insert a player on a Facebook Page tab with FBML with fb:swf. I have the following:[code]I can see the video, no problem. It plays inside a FLVPlayback component, which uses a skin (referred by /player/skinName.swf, I tried also the absolute path here). This player works perfectly everywhere else (even on an iframe Facebook application, where it's not inserted using the fb:swf tag, but with object, of course). However, I can't see the skin on the Page tab.
I'm using a FLvPlayBack component and I have the skin setting set to none. I've dragged a PlayPauseButton from my library to my stage in a movieclip. The button pauses and plays the video, but now what i want to do is mimic the "autohide" feature in a normal skin.how i might accomplish this?
I'm using the same FLVPlayback component to play many page transition videos throughout a large flash site I'm building. On each transition, I'm setting the component's source using myFLVPlayback.source and listening for the fl.video.VideoEvent.READY event before proceeding with each page transition. This works fine as long as the transition between every pair of pages uses a different video.
Unfortunately, I'm running into a problem when the same page-to-page transition video needs to get invoked for two consecutive transitions. When playing the same video twice in a row, setting the source property of the component to the value it already has doesn't seem to do anything, meaning that my listeners for fl.video.VideoEvent.READY never fire. I could do something hackish like setting the source to a tiny, never-used-elsewhere FLV before setting it to the FLV that I'm actually using for the transition as a means of "resetting" the component, but I'd like to know what best practices are in a situation like this (insofar as best practices with something like the FLVPlaybackComponent can be discussed with a straight face).
I've perused the livedocs for the component but came up empty-handed, and manually using NetStream, NetConnection, and Video objects at this late stage isn't really an option.
I can see the video, no problem.
I am going to write a build commands for flex 4.5 project, which is only based on actionscript not with java. I am very new to both maven and ant.So can you people suggest which is more compatible and robust with Flex 4.5
In order to play a FMS stream (live or on demand), either an FLVPlayback component or the Video class is needed. And they require ActionScript 3 and Flash 8 or above.
As far as i know , Youtube, Dailymotion and Google Video stream their on demand videos from a FMS, and their players are compatible with Flash 7.
How can they achieve this? If Youtube, Google and Dailymotion do that, i deduce it's possible..
I tried to create a Flash 7 application that plays a video coming from FMS, using a MediaDisplay component, but it doesn't work well. Sometimes it shows the video, sometimes not.So i don't think youtube player uses MediaDisplay..
I'm now working on a flash website, i need to play a youtube video inside my flash movie. In this Flash file i have a FLVPlayback component and i tried to link the youtube video into this but did'nt work.
I've setup an FLVPlayback 2.5 component with no skin. Then I've added all the UI components and assigned them to the FLVPlayback instance. I'm using a PlayPauseButton, a SeekBar, a MuteButton, a VolumeBar and a FullScreenButton. All of the components had their graphics customized. Extra care was taken not to rename or delete any movieclips.
If I try the custom components by publishing the movie, everything works fine. The problem arises when I dynamically load this SWF into another one. The parent SWF loads the playback controls and instantiates everything and starts the video playerback.
What doesn't work is the SeekBar's and VolumeBar's Handle. It just doesn't appear. If I put a trace() in those MovieClips, they never appear on the console, as if they are never created.
I have an instance of an flvplayback component on a frame (not the first frame) on a timeline in a flash AS3 flash app file. I would like to stop the movie when i exit that frame, either via gotoAndStop() or whatever else.s there a listener for this? Or any solution that people know of?
Is there anyway to have a projector ALWAYS fullscreen, and use an flvplayback component with fullscreen button at the same time? It seems that they're somehow incompatible. If I have multiple instances of an flvplayback component on different scenes, when the projector is fullscreen, jumping to a scene with an flvplayback on it, leads to having a black screen only!
I have an .SWC library with a style.css file inside. The .SWC file is added to my project and the style.css is used this way: <fx:Style source="assets/style/style.css" /> If I want to build my project with an ANT-script it says that "the external stylesheet couldn't be found". In ANT you need to write the path for assets with an leading "/". So this would work: <fx:Style source="/assets/style/style.css" /> But in this case it isn't possible to retrieve the style.css from the .swc as the compiler says that "the external stylesheet couldn't be found". Is there any way to use the style.css inside the .swc AND use ANT to build the project?
I am dead meat, I have until monday to have a working rough draft. I have everything at 90%. My brain wont work, I am locked and cant think og the best way to bring in a Chat box to my project. I want to put it as a hover page in the presentation area of the APP.
Please Pm me for a link as my post count is too low to put it here, I have been lurking here fr some time but didn't ever fell I could better answer questions so I stayed in lurk mode. If anyone can push me in the right direction or is willing to look at what I have and offer some advise, I would be greatly in your debt!. I look forward to some ideas from some very smart people, as I seem to be not one of them!
I'm building a Flex App for a Media Development course and one of our requirements for this sprint is to implement a simple P2P chat into the interface. I created one from a tutorial that served my needs and altered it appropriately, but it exists as a separate Flex Project and not within the Main App.
I know I can export the Chat as an fxp project file, but I'm not sure how I can use it in my main app. I was trying to create a Custom Component, but the process isn't very clear and Adobe's help files on the subject didn't seem to relate to what I specifically wanted to do. I get the feeling that there's a very simple fix for my goal, but hopefully someone would able to point me in the right direction as I've been working on this app for a good 6 hours and need a break.
Can a html webpage load multiple flash simultaneously which uses FLVplayback component ? Because I am trying to create a webpage then loads and play multiple videos in flv format simultaneously and was thinking of using 3 or more flash file to play the videos.
I tried to built a project with AS3 only in Flex. When I run the project in flex, everything looks fine, but when I export the release build, the images that are supposed to be added are gone.
Flex stylesheets are parsed by the compiler and bundled with their assets (graphics, usually) into a swf file, which can then be loaded at runtime. I've got a project with a fixed number of styles (currently 4: old corporate style, new corporate style, and high contrast versions of both). Using Flash Builder (Eclipse with Flex IDE plugin) I'm able to have all .css files compiled to .swf files alongside the primary project artifact .swf file. This is also possible with ant scripts.
My current understanding is that Maven wants to only create one artifact per project (POM file), but may have some additional ones added (like zip packaging). For scalability reasons - I've got a complex setup of many library and module projects, several of them having their own individual stylesheets - it would be very impractical to split up the projects into the 'main' project and copies for each stylesheet. At least on the Eclipse project side, having some subfolders with POM files in each, all refered by a master pom file and referring the same src/ location (and being inside one Eclipse project) would probably work. Though that's ugly and needs individual artifactIds for each, and still need to be assembled somehow.
The important thing is to be able to have a final assembly which contains the (Eclipse) projects main swf file and each stylesheets swf file (and some static files like localized texts to be loaded at runtime). This will be part of a large assembly of several of those projects which I've described in a separate question.
I'm using Eclipse 3.6.1 (Helios) with Flash Builder Plugin (i.e. Flex4), targetting Flex SDK 3.5 (FlashPlayer 10.0). I've installed Maven 3.0.2, using Sonatypes flexmojos-maven-plugin 3.7.1 (as it seems more active than the one from Servebox). I've manually created pom files for my projects and they work (though only compiling one swf artifact file, depending on whether I specify the main .as or one of the .css files as sourceFile)
I've tried for some days now to understand "The Maven Way" (which seems to be tailored for Java and not fitting perfectly for Flex), but couldn't get this to work so that I have a single project, or at least a single assembly with everything in it.
Can anyone enlighten me on how I can use the Flex mx.charts component in my Flash Project? I am using Flash Professional CS4 Are there any tutourials on the subject.
I am ASP.NET developer & wright now I am working on Silverlight project. SinceSilverlight has few drawbacks like we can get Clipboard IMAGE data using silverlight application(however we can access Clipboard TEXT data from Silverlight), but this is not an issue with flash. We can access to clipboard image as well as text data using flash.
