I created a list control at runtime as following:

//Where myDataArray is an ArrayCollection consisting of my Custom ValueObjects. When i execute the code it displays my list with custom item renderer, which is fine. But when bring my mouse over it, it doesn't give any colour highlight which means it is not selecting. Secondly, when i click on any of the list item, it doesn't dispatch any change event. I tried a lot but couldn't understand it.

Flex 3 List control had a itemRollOver event. Flex 4 List doesn't have it. Is there an equivalent or a workaround for this issue?

If you have a DateChooser control next to a text control and you left click your mouse to select the text then continue holding down the mouse button and letting the mouse button up while over the datechooser control, the selectedDate value changes to the date you are hovering over. I have users that are having issues with this and it happens unintentionally because of the proximity of the two controls. I cannot find a way to stop this effect. Basically I would want the selectedDate to only change if the user actually clicks the calendar control ie. mouseDown or click. Calling functions in those events do not change this behavior. I need a way to disable the control from changing the date on the mouseUpEvent (I think).

When a user selects a category from the first drop down box then i want the 2nd drop down to be updated based on the selection of the first drop down. I have created multiple ArrayCollections whose names are set to the "data" values of the first drop down, for instance:

I want to create a custom list in Flex for an interface prototype. The list is supposed to have an image and 3 text fields. This is what I have done so far, the control displayed is what I want. But, when I click on one of the items, the item does not appear (visually) to be selected. I was not sure how I would implement this.

How do I disable the rollover, selection & focus colors in a list? I tried setting them to "{null}" but that just makes them black:

I have a problem with my AdvancedDataGrid which has inside it colums of radiobuttons.The problem is when I click on a cell in the Grid, the Radiobuttons selection become instable, some of the radio buttons of other colums become selected.The behavior I want is that when the selects the RadioButtons(the circle or its label), it become selected and not all the Cell in which the radioButton is.Here my code:

I have an issue with Spark Lists whereby I am trying to ensure that an item is always selected and ensure that the GUI displays this to the user.
The application (full code below) creates a List, a Label and a Button. The Label states what is selected in the List. The button removes the selected item. Changing the selection, updates the text in the Label. Important: The List has "requireSelection" set to true to ensure that an item is always selected.
If I select the first item in the List, the selection is correctly reflected in the label. Clicking "Remove" removes the item and the next item is selected. This is all working correctly.[code]...

In a spark list I could use the change event to find out which item has been selected or deselected. The dispatched IndexChangeEvent object has the properties newIndex and oldIndex holding this information.
But with multiple selection allowed this doesn't work anymore because newIndex and oldIndex could refer to indices of still selected elements.
A solution would be to copy the selectedIndices vector to another variable and compare this variable with selectedIndices after a change in selection, but this seems to be somewhat complex.
Does anyone know if there is an easy way two get the index/item a user is deselecting while other elements are still selected?

I have a spark List defined as:
<s:List id="symbolList" dataProvider="{symbolListCollection}" change="symbolNameChangeHandler(event)"></s:List>
With the change handler defined like this:

symbolList.validateProperties();
changeSymbolView(symbolList.selectedItem);

and symbolListCollection as an ArrayList filled with Strings.
At first, the change event works fine, and I get what I expect.
However, if I Ctrl-click on the selected item, to de-select it, i am unable to ever select an item again.
When I click on something to try to select it, the change event DOES fire, however, the ItemChangeEvent has both oldIndex and newIndex set to -1

Now I have added my tree just below the list and I have saved counting from 10 to 19 in one.xml, 20 to 29 in two.xml and so on in different XML file. I have no clue how to connect the XML containing counting from 10 to 19 as the single node in tree at the selection of label one in list

I'm creating a mobile app in which I need to show a calendar with months at the top. The months are part of a component that extends from SkinnableDataContainer (and has some custom scrolling/behaviour - which is why I did'nt use a spark list). I need the months to be shown as a 'trapezium' shaped tab and so I'm using a png image as a mask in the item renderer for the component.
When the mask is not applied, it all works well - the months render, the list/data container selection works when I click on a month and so on.When the mask is applied, it renders well, scrolling and everything else seems to work well - but when I click on a month, nothing happens visually. And from the trace statements in my code, it appears list item selection is not changing. Looks like mouse clicks are not working.

I am having this very weird behavior with a mx:List control not scrolling properly.Here is a snippet:
<mx:List itemRenderer="customerRender" x="19" y="257" height="68" width="290" id="orderStatusHistoryList" color="#CCCCCC" rowHeight="35" ></mx:List>
The custom render creates a vBox that is 35 pixels high with some labels in it.Now, my dataProvider, set in the script block,is returning 3 items for the list (say item1, item2 and item3). Because of the height of the list control, only 2 are shown initially.Now for the weird part, when I scroll down the list to see the next item it is all messed up.
Initial display:
Item 1
Item 2
Display after clicking the scroll down button:
Item 2 (expected)
Item 1 (What the ?, this should be item 3)
Display after click the scroll down button one more time:
Item 1 (all wrong)
Now, if I increase the height of the list control,so it has enough room to display all three items, it displays fine.Also,I put a trace statement is the item render and flex is rendering all three items with the correct data.

In Flex 4 (beta 2), I have a list control populated from an XMLListCollection. What I would like to do is when an item is selected in the list, use a custom item renderer on the selected item as well as the item that appears just prior to the selected item in the list.
I am using a spark list control, but I am open to alternate components if the solution makes sense.Here is the strucutre of the xml used to populate the XMLListCollection

In an application I have created (web) I need to list out my facebook friends within a canvas (or any container) along with their profile pictures.
I am using Flash Builder 4.5. I have also managed to set up AIR app (using the samples) so I am not sure if I am on the right track.
The requirement is :
When each user logs into the site his/her friends list should appear in the frame along with the friend's profile pictures.

I am learning Adobe Air and want to get the current selected item in the spinner list I have created, however every time I use selectedItem I keep getting the same value over and over, no matter what option I select. I am trying to make an application for the Playbook and this this my SpinnerList code:

I want to add scripting functionality to my Adobe Flex application. I know it's possible to use the Browser control, and add the script packaged as a HTML file to the Browser control, and expose Flex objects. However I'd like to if it is possible to execute JavaScript without using the Browser control.UPDATE: I guess my question hasn't been clear enough. I'll explain what I'm trying to do.I want to make my application customizable using JavaScript ie., add scripting/plugins to my application dynamically.I realize that it's possible to dynamically execute Javascript by inserting the JS code into the HTMLLoader control. I am trying to implement a drag and drop function between a list control and a columnchart in Flex3. List items should, when dragged and dropped on the chart, be displayed raphically in the columnchart.Alas, dropping the listitems on the chart does not seem to result in a proper graph.Here my code till so far with regard to the drop part:

I have a s:List where I've defined my own itemRenderer, and would like to insert a horizontal line separating items, similar to the way the mx:LinkBar works. I don't want to have a line at the top or bottom of the list, so I can't just include an upper or lower border in the itemRenderer. I was hoping the itemRenderer could be made aware of its index in the list, but I don't see how.
